  • I've been packing and packing and packing and now I have empty and clean kitchen cupboards (well some of them anyway) and the pile of boxes in the lounge is becoming a MOUNTAIN!!!

I started going grey at 18. I dyed it for many years, but stopped about 10 years ago, I reacted to dyes and lost hair. I have patchy grey, mostly at the front, but had been ok with it. Now though, it isn't matching who I feel like I am. My body is better than when I was 25, my face is decidedly better, but my hair still puts me at least 10 years older than even my age. As my colleague jokingly said, if it wasn't for my grey hair, I'd look about 12! :rotfl: If I was 50 or 60 I'd feel differently, but I feel like many people my age don't even have any grey yet.

We will see. It's vanity only, but what the heck, if it's not nasty chemicals and it looks good, maybe I'll do it.

I was going to stop dying mine, but Mr LW doesn't want me to - he says he'll continue to assist me with the task; so it looks like I'll carry on for at least a couple more years. When I hit 60, we'll probably re-evaluate then.

I can see my grey roots at the moment (had to cancel my hair appointment for a funeral, and my hairdresser is now on holiday so I dread to think what they'll be like by the time I'm back from holiday and I finally see her...). Mostly I'm not bothered about them, but they're at the stage where they make me look scruffy and I need to look professional for work. So I'll keep having my hair coloured for as long as is appropriate - I'm lucky with my hairdresser who is adapting my colour as I age and working to make sure that the roots are less obvious by changing the base colour. Apparently your skin tone also changes as you age, so sticking with your original colour doesn't always work.

I was going to grow old gracefully so didn't dye my hair for about a year, but with the wedding coming up it looked patchy so I've started dying it again. So glad, as I look much younger in the wedding photos than in photos taken a year ago.

I dye - and will continue to do so for some years, I reckon. I wear make up too. I don't do it for anyone except myself - I feel better without grey hair and with make up.

In awe of those who don't want to though - you save more money than me.

In the Eurostar Terminal at the Gare Du Nord. It is pleasantly fresh and sunny in Paris.

Well the rowing wasnt quite what I expected! All I wanted to do was to learn to row my little 9ft tender but this was to join a cutter rowing club! One oar per person and big long ones (felt like a galley slave lol) I did my best and tried to match the experienced person for stroke, very windy and a bit tough going but when the going gets tough........ upshot is they've asked me to join!! Noooooooo!
Rang the hairdressers when I'd finished and she fitted me in 15 mins later so all re-shorn. Back home now to minister tea and food for DH

SS I like your white streak your hair is lovely. Even on a very still day my hair blows all over the place as soon as I put my head out of the door.

Wow we have rain. it has just started. It's very windy. I shall have to go out though the milk has gone off. It was only bought Thursday and I have not used half.

I let my dye grow out as soon as I retired 12 years ago. DD kept telling me off for dying it too light. In the end I told her it was my natural colour white. My skin is very very pale they don't make foundations light enough so I gave up of makeup too.

I hate to see really old women with very dark foundation, badly applies bright red lipstick and a line round their chin. They look quite grotesque. My hair is really thin and breaks off. It's very fine like babies hair. Can't do a thing with it. I sometimes wish it would all come out and I could wear a wig or a scarf.

DD told me young women pay a fortune to get hair my colour. I often get stopped in the street by young women admiring the colour.

Lyn you will soon be falling over the boxes. You must be reaching the stage where you suddenly find you need something that is packed.

Fuddle I love your saying. It's so true.

It's stopped raining already. That did not last long.
