VJSmum I challenge you to change half a bed.

Monna We have more green than dead looking on our grass. Most of it is dandelions or clover. I don't think it has ever been a lawn.

We have not had much sun the last few days. It's a very pale watery sun today and very cloudy. That woman upstairs seems to do all the cleaning with a battering ram. She's been banging on the floor since 6 am. It will get much worse when all the kids are home all day they break up either tomorrow or Friday.

I will get a few days respite as DD is coming to stay for a few days. It will be just her and DGS, really looking forward to seeing them.

Any positive thoughts you lovely lot can muster would be very much appreciated, my DSIL is having an op today to remove a nasty old lump from her bowel. She is scheduled to go into theatre around midday. Thank you in advance x

It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Sending much love LaineyT, everything is crossed for her.

FurryBeastOz, you needn't worry too much about the sun here. I'm so pale I'm almost transparent, but have only managed to pink a couple of times. It's set up here in many places that there is shade, you avoid going certain places during high UV alert times and most locals cover up (long sleeves, long pants, collars and hats). So, come along with Humphrey if you like, he'll need a travel handler... that is if he can be coaxed away from Monna and all the frolicking (I didn't know camels were even capable of a good frolic).

We had dinner out tonight thanks to a voucher (I'm working 6 days this week and am a bit tired already). Two for one main meals meant 200g steak for 2, with a variety of veg, cost about 11 quid. I can't see them making much on that! We drank water and came home for a whisky ;)

Lainey - very positive vibes coming your way for you and DSiL xx
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Thoughts and prayers with and for all of you my friend, go and see Lu and have some meaningful time grooming her, it's the most therapeutic thing I can think of while you wait for that phone call, chin up, Lyn xxx.
  • Oooohhh exciting times! the estate agent has just rung and our buyer is off to sign contracts this week and the people we're buying from have suggested the 15th August as a possible moving day. Many things to still tie up but we could make that without too much bother and it will be really nice to have everything done, dusted and over with sooner rather than later. I'm not counting eggs before they're hatched but if it did happen that quickly I'd be a happy bunny!

Lainey thinking of you and yours. I anticipate you'll be back soon to tell us all is well and we'll breathe with you.

Islandmaid I have had my own self centred head up my own self centred bottom so please forgive me. I am so sorry to hear of your sadness and all those feelings that has forced you into thinking and realising other things that exacerbate negative emotion. I hope it's all a little bit more bearable for you today.

Well I'm back! 4 hours I have been over there. Initially I was wobbly but it was quiet. Interestingly the 'pigeon man' (very quiet, shy really never says hello) turned to me as I walked in and said hello. He is always with his pigeons of a morning so I'm guessing he heard too. I've spent a lot of if on my friends plot picking blackcurrants with her just talking. People passing say hello, quipping we're talking too much, joking. A bloke my age (ex army sniper) is PS's 'mate' he had my plot before I had it. For some reason he wanted to move plots. The three of us were taking about brown spot on tomatoes (haven't a clue, grinned nodded etc :D) then I left to go to my plot and down came PS to see sniper. All went quiet for 5, can't imagine what was being said, PS left and walked over home then sniper left with a wave, smile and a bye to me. I think it's done me good to get out there. I think I have nothing to prove to any of them and that pinch of salt is needed, and used, when he speaks. I'm now of the opinion that most folk will most probably think secretly 'good on you girl' for catching in the face with the hose. MrsPS's female mate was extra chatting to me this morning, I had non of it swiftly talking about trying to avoid a farmer's tan with my t-shirt as I have a christening at the weekend and a sleeveless dress to wear, so I I kept on walking as I was a chatting. I think she was after gossip and I suspect whatever I would have said would have got back to PS'.

So it's done for me. I've turned this negative experience into a positive because I learned somethings about myself and I also know that I still have a backbone amongst the anxiety. There's many a time I would have just hidden away.

Right, subject changed. I have gooseberries but not enough for jam. In fact I have more scratches than I do berries! Off to go look at gooseberry fool recipes, have some food and hunt out that house paperwork. ;)
