Well then if MONNA's brother is back at home I see Humphrey coming into his own as a Pat Camel, if you get pat dogs going into hospitals and other people benefit from having access to them then think how much MORE benefit he'd get with a therapy camel possibly curled up on his lap giving him a good lick! there's a picture to gladden hearts, particularly Humphreys!
Glad he's home love!0 -
Lyn I think camels tend to spit, rather than lick.....
monna Wonderful news :j Sending best wishes to Peter and Mrs Peter.0 -
Fantastic news monna, may you have years and years of chatting on the phone.
Just going to DDs for the morning to wait for a valuer, I'll be glad to be out of here for a while, those builders really make a racket!0 -
Did I not say? Humphrey is a 'Shetland camel' good pedigree, well trained and terribly refined, besides he's very human friendly and knows how to refrain from spitting in polite company, that's why he's allowed to be a pat camel and is small enough (if he tries hard enough) to curl up on a lap, the licking? who knows but it's apparently a trait with them and most people don't find it objectionable.0

Lovely news Monna XXXSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

So happy to hear that Monna's brother is home, I hope the improvement is sustained.
I had a massive accident yesterday, I broke my dental plate, now, now, if you saw me without it you would understand why it was imperative I got it fixed tout suite. Thankfully my techie was in a generous mood and told me to go straight over. I do have a spare but that was broken too, so got a bit of a telling off. Both now mended and my smile is back. I dare not even open my mouth without it, I look like the wild witch from the west. I have been told that if I break it again to send the plate and its mould to him by post and I would get it back in 24 hours..........so....
I must remember to move the mould and spare teeth from the bathroom window cill into its usual hiding place before the cleaners come!!
Personally I would think camel meat is a bit dry, but I suppose its all to taste, mind you it would cause a stir at Aldi if I took him shopping!!0 -

Great news about your brother Monna, hope he continues to improve.
Think a camel is an excellent idea, especially in the current drought conditions0 -
So happy to hear that Monna. Anything you want to know about a triple heart bypass just ask. Things that might help that the leaflets don't tell you for example. They make you cough to make sure fluid doesn't collect on the lungs but it's obviously quite painful. What helps is a small towel rolled up tight and secured with elastic bands held against the breastbone. Also vaseline over the scar to keep water off means you can start showering a bit sooner.
It's obviously a big operation but it is actually routine these days so I hope DB will be feeling much better in just a few months time. He won't be able to do any lifting for three months - nothing heavier than a four pint bottle of milk is what they say, so it's a good idea to think about how to make things easier for your DSIL to deal with if she hasn't done them before. I had to learn how to use the lawnmower and it was bloomin hard work. Never been so thankful for the fact that the grass isn't growing (grass? What grass?). In retrospect I'd have got a garden maintenance company in a couple of timesIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Momma (tablet wants to call you that today). Wonderful news and it's lovely to see you post with ease.
Currently on TV is a programme by Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer. It's heavily heart based while they goof around fishing. Paul has had 3 stents and Bob has had a triple heart bypass. They're open about their struggles while having a positive and comedic approach. They try, try! to educate about heart healthy foods but also show that it's difficult and frustrating to keep to that. They have both been in dark places with their health and share it in such a way that comes across as comforting. DH watches it because i's fishing and he's a Bob Mortimer fan and I watch because they talk about heart health and are so funny with it. Both of us sit there grinning throughout. The fishing is a small element but it maybe something you, your brother and wider family might want to watch on catch up. I believe its on BBC2.
Again, your support over the neighbour issue is lovely. DH is struggling with the concept of having to be rude and not speak. He said he doesn't want to speak to them, is annoyed and horrified at how they can treat fellow human beings but he's used to people saying sorry or at least doing something to make up, if not even just patch up, something that has gone wrong. He's not intimidated by the man but he has anxiety about ignoring them because its rude and not in his nature to be like that. He said it will go with time but he doesn't like the idea of him lying about us to neighbours because it's so unfair, we haven't actually done anything wrong.
My friend knows they will be going abroad in a couple of weeks. She's going to find out when and we're hopefully going to get a trellis up then so we can't be accused of antagonistic behaviour. The solicitor has our deeds in storage and it'll cost £14.95to get boundary info from land registry so we're going to try to a fix it to the wood store so we're not opening ourselves up to accusations of doing things to a wall that may belong to them.
I'm very sad today. Probably the come down.
Well done Camelot and a Cranky on the growing. You know I know the feeling, the oh-so wondrous feelings, of growing our own food from a teeny tiny lifeless seed and I also know how it feels to have to keep that excitement in because nobody really understands and it's just a boring vegetable to most other folk. We'll done, and squeeeee!0
