Great news - both Monna and Capella have their smile back :)

I am feeling a little below par today - not sure if it's the break in the weather, the fact that i have reached a hard bit in my research or that i am training to be a volunteer booking clerk and I am very not good at it. i am used to being a bit not good at things, but not very not good. I will learn, but it's going to take longer than i hoped... I will pursue it as, over the next year, most of my time is going to be spent alone writing my thesis and this will help to break up my time. i just need to pursue it until i get fully trained.... Not a huge problem I realise, I just.... don't like feeling hopeless. THe hard bit of research is also in a similar vein - I just have to keep going...

It is my DD's birthday tomorrow - she will be 22  How the heck did THAT happen? We had an agreement with friends and family that we would stop christmas and birthday presents for all 'children' at 21 so she isn't getting much. There is only us, DS and MiL who will give her something - we will give her several things so i don't think she'll notice too much. I have to go and buy her a few cheapie things later to make her pile of pressies look bigger :D They will be things she could do with like new pants and pyjamas, saves her buying them from her hard-earned. her main thing (shhh don't tell) is a Disney charm for her Pandora.

Hey ho - this won't get the baby a new bonnet.. Onwards and upwards...
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Morning all, and another warm sunny one.
I slept very well last night so thank you for all your kind messages.

I really must do some housework today, things are looking a bit dusty round the edges. In this heat I have concentrated on keeping kitchen and bathroom sparkling but everything else has been studiously ignored. Today is the day I intend to drag the place out of the sordid range.

Hope you are feeling a bit better Fuddle.

Great news Monna :j About your brother I mean, not the camel.

And I understand you want to use him as a mode of transport, but you overlook one main fault with that as a theory.... are you sure you can hang on when he's running away from a knife and fork wielding Mardatha??

Very tired right now, so not much posting from me, but sending love. Have a 6 day work week, 3 zumba sessions and weight training at the gym this week. ZZZZzzzzzzzz

  • Now Humphrey is wondering what he's done to upset our antipodean contingent? He says he thinks of you as a friend and what has he done to be not great news???
  • FUDS your OH has access to pallets regularly doesn't he? would he be able to make a yard to trellis height screen to stand in front of the existing wall for you to attach the trellis to? then the issue about joint ownership of the wall goes away. If the pallet wood is free in the first place then the solution will only cost you the trellis. You could paint the wood white and get your light reflection from it too.

I love camels. I've even got a singing camel (it doesn't sing very well any more, the batteries are a bit flat) that the late MrC bought in a NAAFI somewhere like Dubai or some such place. I also have a rather hideous gold camel on a gold chain that he bought from somewhere in Dubai. It's too awful to wear but we do open the box and have a laugh at it now and then.

I've made mocha squares and cookies so far. Just a rich fruit cake to make and then I can get on with cleaning. Due to doing the bare minimum in hot weather the house needs a proper clean, sigh. I'm reorganising and tidy the kitchen cupboards too. I forget where I've out things and then my eating habits go to pot because I don't know what's in there.
  • Round of applause please, I have done the ironing!!! OK its only the bed linen, but its cotton fabric and I have to use the steam, so its more than a bit of a sweaty job. in this weather.

About to put my a*** on a chair, read and drink tea for half an hour.

Does your camel have one hump or two???? two humps mean you do not need a saddle, just cling on to the reins like mad!!!

Ironing, never heard of it, don't own an iron. Maybe Humphrey could roll on my bedding to get the creases out.
I'm meeting an ex colleague today I'm looking forward to it.
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Humphrey says it can be either one hump or two, he's very versatile in the hump area!

He also says that Hester has a one track mind and he's a very well brought up young camel and wouldn't dare roll on her bedding, who knows what might happen???

I really cannot understand why poor naive innocent little me gets blamed for anything rude, it bain't fair.
No, it's not, but at least while they're blaming you, they're letting me alone! :rotfl:

If you have Humphrey over in Ozzieland how am I expected to get about over here?
    No consideration, some people.
And as for eating him!!! How would you feel if I eat your mode of transport?
Honda sandwich? Fiesta au gratin? Stir-fried BMW? Yum.
Oi! Get your sticky little paws off my motor! :p

Joking aside, fantabulous news re DB, btw - may he continue to go from strength to strength. :T

I'm very sad today. Probably the come down.
That'll be what I call the "fallout". Just haul your backside through today as best you can; tomorrow will be better. x

*Sigh* still no letter from the neurologist - but it's only just over a week, and it has to get through our lousy postal system. I just hope it doesn't go astray, as our post has an awful track record for getting mis-delivered, and you can't always rely on people not to just bin mail they get that's not actually for them.
I'm panicking now - can you tell?
