Monna We have a spare room if you get stuck, wrong side of the Island, but if you don't mind playing Harry Potter till you find a suitable abode - have a double room for Millie if she isn't still stuck in the postbox :rotfl::rotfl:

Lyn our house buying and selling process is just a rubbish system  when I moved here 15 years ago, winter, on my own with 3 young kids only to find the gas boiler was dead, then decommissioned by heating engineer as unsafe, cost me best part of £4000 that I didn't have to get it replaced before Christmas - and yes, a certificate was part of the purchase pack

On the bright side, we still love it here and cannot imagine ever moving :D
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130
  • MONNA I phoned the EA and specifically asked that they check with the vendor exactly what they were leaving and 20 minutes later the phone call came back saying they'd been contacted and were leaving all the curtains and the range cooker, this was after the second viewing and having our offer accepted. The first time we viewed it was with a different agent from the same office and we were told that the range cooker and curtains were going with the vendor. Can't do more than ask the exact question you want answered, I'm hoping the omission on the form is because they ARE leaving curtains !!!!!!.think it might left hand not knowing what the right is doing. Ne'mind we'll get it sorted xxx.

I once moved into a house where the previous owner had cut of the light fittings and removed the door furniture.

As a complete change of subject...would anyone like some gooseberries? I have spent 2 hours on my knees with scratches up to my elbows and have been rewarded with 5.5kg :D Think DH will be researching goosegog wine recipes this weekend!

Hester - hope the AB's help DD & give her some relief.
FANTASTIC NEWS Monna - if you get stuck I can always moor the boat for you to stay on board! Room for Millie too ;) Perhaps one of those bungalows that have been up for sale for a long time would take an offer if you liked it? They can only refuse.
Just keeping everything crossed for you to find your forever home.

A quick post back to say that in the last 10 minutes I have accepted an offer on my house and they want to move on September 1st.

I feel most peculiar but I have a small bottle of sparkling wine in the fridge and am contemplating a tiny celebration all of my own.

    Yay!! Great news monnagran!
    Must use my stash up!

I bobbed in yesterday, managed to read just a couple of posts, but then got a phone call to go into work to cover a sick day, so couldn't manage to comment. And what a day it was, but more on that later...

Mardatha, ouchies. And  about the GP and those painkillers. Didn't he even check??

I'm sorry you're all suffering with heat and humidity, I know I make light of it, but it is rougher there what with you not really being set up for it. I wonder how long it'll be until you all have ceiling fans and aircon like we do here, what with increased temperatures.

Fuddle, you made me chuckle about the cucumbers. You do realise that's you performing artificial insemination to plants? :D Sending hugs for your spleen... well, you understand what I mean. You're certainly no hypochondriac, you've just had a bit of a bad run of it. Health things don't seem to come individually at allotted times, mostly because when you're run down, bits keep falling off. You'll get there though in the end.

Hester, I'm sorry to hear about your SIL and hope your DD is ok, sending love.

Silvasava, if my hairdresser had burst into tears before starting, I think I would have done my best impression of roadrunner and all you would have seen left of me was a few hairs. You're a braver woman than I am!

Congratulations on the house sale Monna! We'll all have a glass to celebrate wherever we are.

MrsLW, who the heck takes light fixtures and curtain poles?? I thought it was a bit of a given that things like that remained. That said, I was surprised once to get keys to my flat and find no lightbulbs.

Ooh Floss I love gooseberries. Not something I can get here. Shame you can't pop a few round the corner ;) I'd swap you for 10kg of bananas....

Well, in my news, yesterday at work (when I wasn't supposed to be there) I took in some tools and filler. In a discussion with the bosses on site, we'd decided to remove some of the screws sticking out of the walls (where things had previously been) and fill them, thinking little filled holes were better than large obvious empty screws. Anyway, I pulled out and filled the first 4, nice and easy. The fifth however, when gently pulled, took a giant chunk of wall with  When the boss and I stopped laughing, we set to.... in an 8 hour shift, I endeavored to fill, sand and paint a giant hole (we got the paint matched at the local paint store by taking in a chunk of wall). Though it was not my best work, there is no longer a giant hole and it isn't obvious. We still hung a large picture over it! And all of this a couple of days before the state managers visit :rotfl:

I'm not sure why, but days that I work unexpectedly tend not to go as well....
