    Morning all,

I'm so pleased to hear about the good news on the housing front for some of you! Monna I hope that bottle of sparkling was thoroughly enjoyed.

Fuddle, I had an enlarged spleen for awhile around 20 years ago. It was a bit uncomfortable. You've really been through it with your health recently and prior to that you'd been through several stressful events (even if they were sometimes good events--moving is stressful even when happy!).

Nursemaggie I'm sorry to hear no new flats have come up.

VJs--Are you close to submitting? I didn't have my external until after I'd submitted, it seems like you've only just begun!

Mar, I hope there is a bit of relief for the shoulder.

OH's last day is today. I'm working Thursday, although that will mostly be tying up loose ends and organizing what needs to be done first when I'm back from leave. It feels a bit cooler this morning but the forecast is still set to be very warm.

Softstuff--Like you I suspect part of why so many find what other nations would consider to be very pleasant weather unbearable is that the UK really is not set up for it. Not just the ceiling fans and air con, but tiny windows and little shade around houses doesn't help---of course those things are brilliant in a long damp winter.

Well, I'd better start some actual work. I want time for a walk and potter in the garden this evening.

Hugs to all who need them.x

floss I bottle gooseberries. The cold water bath method, it is very successful. I still have gooseberries done in 2015 and they are perfect, I do drain the syrup off and I get 5 x 500ml kilner jars in a jam maslin. That year the bush was awfully hard to pick, right down to the ground. The same winter, I stripped it of all side branches and put a metal stake into the ground for support. I had a glorious easy pick crop from the top, picked standing up. I did the same with my other gooseberries, I have 6 of these plants, hoping to dig the 4 newest out to come with me.

I was thinking about those bungalows still up for sale monna, have a good look at the area and I mean online too. You can usually get the postcode from the downloaded estate agent details, then check these two
    https://www.police.uk/
    https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/long-term-flood-risk
Then check if it has a `view` because it could well have 50 tall houses planned for 2 years time. Look at local planning or the local village websites. Then if all looks good, go and see it, look out for cut back leylandii, they can be a big problem to avoid. The bungalows could be tatty but do what I did and harden your heart and start at 15% lower, wait and later up the offer, bearing in mind that it could take 3 offers. Make the offer subject to survey and to taking the property off the market. Find a trusted local handyman to project manage everything and you could well end up with a lovely home, cheaper than you thought

My DD 's partner has psoriaic arthritis.....currently under good control with a very strict vegan grain free diet...which admittedly surprised me...he works in health care and was worried about the longterm effects of the drugs...he had been on stuff for years. He is so much more cheerful and the laundry basket is more manageable.
Even a trace of dairy sets it off...I made mistakes :(

I am NOT suggesting you play with diet on your own....just that it can be helpful for some folks...we are all different.

Good luck with the house moves..it is so stressful. I am contemplating the likelihood of a move to somewhere else in Europe...and doing the pack on my own again while DH starts work....various second interviews in the next week or two....probably why I am not recovering from the shingles as quickly as I had hoped. In some countries, a kitchen is not included in a sale! You move your own, all the units and whitegoods!! Thankfully, it is included when renting :)

Amazing news Monna!!! you have been sooo patient. MrsLW.....fingers crossed for a positive outcome.
Can't quite remember who said what, but I know a lot of you are struggling with health and heat at the mo.
My heart goes out to you and hope you get some relief soon, either for yourselves or your families.

I absolutely love the heat and have spent so much time outside this year (have always missed out due to working before)
Nothing much to report here.....still Billy no Mates until DH gets back on Monday.
It was so funny last night trying to chat to each other and my two DDs via Whatsapp during the football.
I am not a footie fan, but have got really excited this year and sending comments in between hiding behind a cushion for the penalties was hilarious.

Was on water only after 8.00pm last night 'cos I had to have a fasting blood test this morning. That's all done and am waiting to go for an xray on my shoulder and neck.
This all came about after a visit to doc about another little problem and she gave me a full MOT!!
I happened to mention this pain in my shoulder and neck that I have had for ages and she's sending me for xray. I just put it down to bad posture or carrying heavy bags while I was working but it seems to be getting worse.
Anyway, nothing like what some of you are dealing with so I will stop being a moaning Minnie and get over it.
Out to catch a few rays before my appointment.
    Take care everyone

Congratulations Monna, hope your search is quick. Sorry to hear all the health issues. Mrs LW - breathe and all will be well. It is a natural feeling Kittie to have questions after the excitement of finding somewhere. Such a stressful time but you will be fine. I'm another one who loves the heat. Here in the office I won the first battle of switching the air con off and opening all the windows.
  • Thank you all for being so kind, down to earth and supportive, means an awful lot xxx.

E.Mail gone to solicitor this morning and He Who Knows will contact the EA later today. I'm hoping that it's just that there was no other option on the tick box form and that in reality the situation re vendor not having a property to finalise on but also having somewhere to go to as agreed is still standing. Curtains, well we can easily get those, light fitting is ugly and we'd have changed it anyway and they will leave us a rose and bulb holder. What threw me was that none of these things had been said and no contact from the vendors agents or solicitor flagged any of them up so it was just a bit of a shock. We can cope but our buyer was specific about when she wanted exchange and they agreed that it was fine by them and I don't want to lose our sale. It WILL all work out xxx.

Just a quickie for all of you with bumper crops - I've found my little pair of thread snips from my sewing box are brilliant for topping and tailing! Much quicker than a sharp knife. I've also been saving any plastic punnets to use for picking produce. Keep a little stack in the greenhouse now so they're handy.
Leaving the gooseberry for one more day before picking to make sure they're as sweet as possible ;)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Brilliant tip about the thread snips silva! How are you feeling today? i hope your chest is easing.

tinydancer I hope they can help your shoulder and neck. It throws you a bit, doesn't it, when you find yourself sent to the hospital when you weren't expecting it? It's happened to OH a couple of times.

I printed out my letter to the PALS office at the local hospital (about my non-arrived appointment) and off we went to hand-deliver it, only to find when we got there that they no longer have a PALS office because all their services are now run by different Trusts :( so I will need to re-word my letter and post it to the hospital trust that runs the eye clinic. My annoyance was such that I found myself forced to eat two custard doughnuts.

Got a letter today for something called a Bone Trauma Clinic. What's that got to do with a torn rotator cuff, or have they found something else on the Xray that they haven't bothered to mention to me?
