Re yoga - I made the mistake of signing up for a 12 week course once; I hated it! I don't really "do" group activities, and I spent the entire time knotted up with anxiety, so really it was counter-productive. I forced myself to attend as I'd paid upfront, but "never again" is the phrase that comes to mind.
Softstuff I don't "do" hairdressers either; the last time I tried going to one was 35+ years ago, and I ended up having a full-blown panic attack. Just can't cope with strangers touching me.
My Guardian is, as I mentioned, a large timber wolf. She answers to Qantaka (named after a wolf in Tad Williams "Memory, Sorrow and Thorn" series, and she seems content with the name) and she first made herself known when I was having Reiki treatment from one of Penny-Dog's friends' Mum (if that makes sense). At the end of the session I was lying on the floor awaiting the glass of water I was always made to drink after a session, and I felt a thumping great paw in my hand. I knew it couldn't be Blossom (that was Penny-Dog's friend) as she was a Westie. I also "felt" a thought - "Finally I have your attention!". That would be *thinks* over 20 years ago now. I suppose it makes sense I'd get an animal Guardian, as humans scare me so much.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon All - very pleased to hear that all is well in the Nargle household at the moment.
Well - the rotten sore throat turned into a hacking cough and has triggered off my asthma - so have been like a limp lily for the last week. I get really frustrated as its so tiring and I have no energy for anything. Going to see nursie in a wee while as I dont want it to degenerate further over the weekend and end up in A&E!
No yoga for me tonight again - missed 3 weeks now as havn't been since before I went on my hols. I do like the calm, non competetive atmosphere and we do have a giggle - especially on the 'dead fly' position!
Mar - your break sounds just what you need to feed your mind and body - hope you have a lovely time.
Monna - its the Newport rally this weekend - needless to say I'm giving it a miss.
Soft6stuff - no gym's near me but full of good intentions to do something at home..........eventually.
FPK - keep your head down and wear a tin hat comes to mind
Hugs to all who are in need. I'm not in the least bit psychic but do believe in the power of good.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
LW Timber wolves are wonderful, aren't they?
FPk Enjoy your much-deserved time off x0 -
It's sunny beside the fence here in Emptyland so I thought I would nip out and have a word. Nothing much to report but I do appreciate your posts folks and I wanted to thank you.
I have been happily pottering on and been quietly content. I realise today I am sore because I have been trying too hard on my recovery. I am feeling quite upbeat about it because I think (and hope) I have caught it in time and if I rest up and then go back gently it'll be alright. This is the first time I have felt like this, it usually really gets me down. I must be learning at last!
I had to pop into Sainsburys today so I treated myself to 2 new T-shirts. £4 each so I can cover my body without breaking the budget.
Well I am going to read for a little while longer, then have a lie down. When I get up again and I must remind myself that I can go slowly. Am I the only one who tends to dash around even when there is no need?0 -
Sorry you are not well silva I hope you get well soon.
It's nice to know no one is troubled at the moment nargle the fun starts next week. Will be boring for you both until and if he gets any side effects. I hope he does not. Not everyone gets them. Take things to amuse you both you get a lot of boring sitting.
More from the saga of the flat above. Lots of vans outside and and it sounds like they are gutting the place. It's still less noise than before, as the knocking is gentle and I barely hear their footsteps which goes to show how selfish those people were. This is the third new kitchen going in in less than two years. Will be the same from them all. Does not seem right when we have to pay for our own.
The grass cutters are here today. There's a man trundling a push mower about. Of course they can't get the sit upon mowers in through the new gates. Actually it looks neater.
Have a lovely holiday Mar and FPK.0 -
Oh Fencers....
You know I said I feel bad as my life was settled and happy at the moment - well, I spoke too soon...
Eldest DS (25) has just told us he found out his GF of 4 years has been seeing someone else for the past 10 months, not only that, she has been 'flirting' with several other men on social media - DS adored her, and she has allowed him to take her on holiday, help her with her rent, pay for her travel to him or him travelling to her Uni town, pay for meals out on a regular basis - he is devastated, and I am just so sad for him - he was planning to propose to her.
We only went out for dinner with them Friday. He has suspected for about 6 weeks, and in the end, the other bloke sent him lots of pics and screen shots of her - DS knew when we went out, but had given her another chance, till he read a message that she had arranged to meet another man this week.
I am glad it happened now, not after they married etc and I hope that he meets someone that deserves him - he is such a gentleman and so loving .....
Sorry to bang on - I am so desperately sad for him xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
silva Sorry I forgot to say that I hope you feel much better by the time you go away x
ETA Islandmaid Just read your post. Your poor sonbut thank goodness that at least he found out before he'd proposed. I do hope that when he has taken time and space to recover he will find someone who deserves him ((HUGS))

Keeping everything crossed for Mr Nargle to sail through without too many problems.
Snigger snigger, after smiling sweetly at rampaging neighbours and flipping them a finger I have finally got to the nub of the problem. Someone has graffitied all over their car, only in the dust as said car is filthy. It seems they thought it was me, I assured them that if it had been me the insults would have been written with correct grammar and correct spelling!Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Goodness Islandmaid, that is awful for your poor DS. What a hurtful way for the little madam treat him. I wonder if the new BF knows about the flirting and her seeing other blokes, he obviously was aware of your DS's presence or he wouldn't have sent the pictures. When you've been through this sort of thing yourself, and I bet most of us have, you know exactly how he must be feeling and what he is going through right now. We might know that it is possible to recover and be happy again, but he won't believe that for a while yet. Poor young man, he must feel as if his world has come to an end.
Emptynester, your day sounds lovely. Nothing like a good potter to restore the soul.
Silvasava, just be careful, that sounds like a really nasty bout of something. It always seems worse in the summer when its hot and sunny. The usual comforts of hot drinks, hot water bottles and snuggling under the duvet don't work, do they? I'm surprised that there is a Newport rally this week end. Do the organisers not check their dates?
nursemaggie, it seems like salvation at last. Hope you can enjoy the luxury of a quiet night. Just pity the residents of wherever the noisy ones have been moved to. Unless they have been deported of course.
Well, this morning an unexpected free day spread out before me. Did I use it to do something useful? Did I heck!
I wandered up the beach and to the shop. Bought some strawberries, local and luscious, posted a letter and wandered back again.
Perfect weather for me. Warm, sunny and with just enough sea breeze to stop it being uncomfortable and sweltering.
Have now settled down with a book and a cuppa.
I had a flash of inspiration and instead of condemning myself to a long bus ride I found a phone number and rang the bank. Lovely young man sorted the problem of the bank card in less than 4 minutes. A new one is on its way. Result!
Hester, why on earth would those people assume it was you graffiti-ing their boat? Now we might have our suspicions, but then we know you.
I passed a filthy van once on which someone had written in the dirt "was originally white"I believe that friends are quiet angels
