Nargle you forgot to mention the army alongside the maltreated Fencer .

monna I'm now rolling about laughing . Did our saintly angel just call Mr PS a spineless git ? I must say I agree .
I could hopefully be wrong re a repeat of the summer of 76 . The heat here is so alien it triggered the memory of the endless heat and humid sleepless nights . I may have to head to see Wondercollie . Lock up the tea towels !

Enjoy your time in gods own country Taurusgb .

Hope the wunderweb behaved this time panda . I used it a few times years ago and decided it was easier to sew things . I'm very much in agreement about liars . I had a few red lines not to be crossed when the offspring were growing up and lies was one of them Fibs were different , I don't know how many times my son would deny eating a whole pack of mars bars in one go while covered in chocolate and caramel . Once someone is a liar you can't trust them again .

That's a good haul SS . Some real bargains there . I love anything liberty and still have my original liberty and more recent additions .

Right think I'm up to date . Trying to keep up so talk slowly tomorrow please .
I've remembered I forgot to wish ivyleaf a happy holiday so enjoy Germany .
If you're still awake fuds the email should be enough . It will be a record of the event . I could cheerfully choke the idiot but you can't argue with stupid so not worth your energy . People like him don't change but be glad you've met your friend who sounds kind and caring . Let him take his "help " to others and just carry on as you are .

I missed your post NM sorry . I do understand the shortage of affordable rentals suitable for your circumstances .I really hope something will come along that's right for you although I know there are many people waiting for the same thing . Andy Burnham is up to his neck trying to deal with the situation in GM for both poorly housed and homeless people .
It's a shame you don't have more back up in your present building as whoever owns the flats doesn't seem to be concerned at all about any problems . It's a long time since they started the prep for adequate more affordable heating and another winter has gone by with expensive storage heaters that heat at the wrong times .
Having read now what you are responsible for in the flat they sound like rip off merchants .
I do feel sorry for the refugees too . I know they are causing you and other tenants grief but if they are genuine refugees there will be a back story to their arrival in the UK . Those who don't speak English will struggle to understand the unwritten rules we brits grow up knowing by example . Queues are an alien concept to many from other countries and cultures . You've mentioned a refugee agency and they seem to be falling a bit short regarding what support is given afterwards . I can only go on your posts so may be missing something .
Well I meant to be in bed some time ago so hope you manage a quiet night and sleep .

I lurrrrve the heat - I don't mind admitting. Though I wouldn't want a drought for those who will suffer because of it. i reckon that, come the beginning of July, the weather will destabilise - that's what's happened in recent years and July and August have been rather 'meh'.

A piece of useless info for you - I am friends with the son of the Minister for Rain (or drought was it?) in 1976, Dennis Howell. My OH went to school with him. His other son (Dennis's) was tragically killed in a car crash back in the 80's :(

I 'think' I have traced the source of my mysterious eye rash that had come on again yesterday when I got up - I think it's caused by a histamine intolerance. I've been on an exclusion diet and gradually introduced things - saturday I introduced cheddar (though other, non cow, cheeses had been fine - and I have been ok with other cow's milk products) but I also had a huge bowl of strawberries, some bacon, some dried fruit, some tomatoes. All of which are either high in histamine or release the body's natural stores of it. So hopefully I can move forward from here.

I am on my way to London for a course. it is important for my work but i can't really be bothered to sit through a two day computer course... I guess there's worse problems to have.

MiL is going home today - DS is driving her. She was very good for most of the weekend but the martyrish sighing and misery started at 9.00 last night. I don't think she can help it, but i also don't think she realises that, far from asking her to stay longer, it is more likely to want her to leave... But she has been really kind to the family and has given us all £100 each (well couples got £100 to go out for dinner) and the grandchildren and great grandchild got £100 "to spend frivolously, not to put in the bank". It's a lovely gesture. DD will spend hers when we go to Disneyland in a couple of weeks; DS will probably spend his on beer :rotfl::beer:
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Polly, a quiet night I managed, but the sleep eluded me. My own fault. When I couldn't get off, instead of doing a crossword or sudoku I picked up my book. By 4.30 I'd finished the book and managed to get off to sleep shortly after. At 5.15 Millie started her morning exercises.
I'm hoping for a nap later. I've been called many things in my time but 'saintly angel' is a first.

Softstuff, I am in awe at your haul from the CS. I never seem to see designer labels. Not that I'm au fait with such things, I probably wouldn't recognise them if I saw them.

I was supposed to getting the ferry to England today to meet up with an old friend, but she has had to dash off to one of her daughters. So she is on her way to Liverpool and I have a free day. I'm hoping for a good sleep later on.

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY

It's better to be the one who smiled than the one who didn't smile back.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.

    Ivyleaf, how horrible.

We are due for an expensive month, the tenant has phoned the agent to say that the ensuite shower is broken, the bath isn't draining and one of her kids has put their foot through the decking. The decking is rotten because it was covered in plastic for months, she was warned about this but took no notice!
Oh the joys of being a wealthy landlord, with nothing to do but count my millions.
    Chin up, Titus out.

I just love the email that you drafted Nargle ......hilarious.
I will try and remember to call on you if I need something similar.

I think I will pass on the 'thanks' button guys, as I will forget and would hate for people to be upset.
Let me say now....thank you to all of you for making me smile, laugh and sometimes cry, then I wont need to touch the button.

Today is much more overcast here and a little cooler, although I too love the heat.
Am going for a fairly long walk later with eldest DD and her two boys (8 and 5) who are off school as its a training day. They are going on their bikes and we are walking with them. Its through a country park so they will be safe. I am sure there will be a coffee stop midway.

    Missed your post Ivyleaf, sorry.
That must be dreadful and absolutely NOT what you need now or anytime. I hope the medication works quickly for you.

Hester, your tenant really seems to take the proverbial. She will never find another landlord like you!!
NM has the polar opposite response from her landlord.
