    Morning all,

Nargleblast, I'm sorry to hear the news wasn't all good but you'll face it together and come out the other side. There is a plan in place.

Nursemaggie, what an awful journey. I regularly have people just walk straight into me in spite of my efforts to dodge them. I hope you're able to recover today.

Mardatha, arggh. I'm sorry you'll have a battle and hard times on your hands.

The British Heart foundation fishcakes turned out surprisingly nice. They were a bit fiddly to assemble and cook, but they were tasty. We don't eat a lot of fishcakes, but I didn't really notice much difference replacing the potatoes with beans. I'll definitely season them more next time. The breadcrumb exterior was more of a shift since with so little oil it didn't really crisp up the same way. Next time I'll cook the leeks in less fat and use the extra fat for the outside of the fishcakes. We had them with wild rice and courgettes.

Right. I need to do the menus for this week and get the shopping list ready.

Hugs to all who need them.

Ive just lost a very long, witty post that took me ages to tap out due to the one fingered method of typing on tablet and the tears of mirth pouring down my face due to amusement at my own wit. You will have to trust me on this.

Replacing the one typing finger with two for the benefit of the internet, I will pass swiftly on to

    Hugs Nargle.
Nurse Maggie, I frequently get hit in the face with backpacks, drives me mad.
Love the thought for the day Monna.
Yesterday I walked a couple of miles, I went to get CHS hearing aid retubed, the hospital is being refurbished and I couldn't use the shortcut. There were signs up with arrows to follow but these had been knocked down as they were also holding a open day of some sort.
I shall walk a couple of miles today as well and work 3 locks and 2 swing bridges. I'm hoping to watch a rerun of the wedding this evening as I won't have time during the day. I'm hoping to persuade CHS to stop early today otherwise it is 5 miles with extra locks and bridges.
    Chin up, Titus out.

Oh nursemaggie, what a horrible day! I'm not surprised you needed a rant. I hope you weren't kept awake too late. Do you have any earplugs? Foam ones are pretty comfortable if you get desperate x

Hester Sounds like visiting our hospital when they had a lot of building work going on. It was full of narrow temporary corridors with no shortcuts, and at every junction there were baffled patients saying helplessly "NOW which way do we go?", and my poor consultant had someone hammering outside a few feet from her office window.

monnagran There may well be a keyboard you can get which plugs into your tablet so you don't have to type using the screen :)

Lovely and sunny out there today but I'm feeling colder than i should. Must be the thyroid problem. Yesterday afternoon it was 22 degrees in our living room but I was wearing a jumper and had freezing hands!

Awww, she looked lovely. I hope they'll be very happy together. Did you manage to see enough of the household cavalry, monnagran? I'd have liked a better view of them.

And yes, I cried, remembering that little boy walking behind his mother's coffin and wishing him a joyful and fulfilling future.

I have not watched the wedding. Not my thing. I have been doing what Monna does, pottering. I moved all the books into DS's old room in the bookcases he left behind he is going to buy all new ones to match his desk in his study.

The little bookcase that was my grandma's is 1930s but not good quality. I think to bring it up to date I will have to sand it down and paint it because I can't get any of my big books in DS's old bookcases There are no big enough spaces between the shelves.

My last pile of things in my bedroom a huge pile of mending. Found a pair of M & S trousers them had just come loose on one leg. What dates them is a black plastic piece with sparkly plastic pretend diamonds on it. Horrible and with some missing. I have cut the plastic off and hemmed the loose leg and I new have another pair of trousers now suitable to go for my scan on Monday as they have no metal in them.

I have put some stuff to go to the Hospice shop and the rest was things needing shortening and more cardigans than I thought needing buttons on them. My buttons are all here ready to do them all.

Sorry about my rant yesterday. The music did not go on late.

The elephants up stairs seem to have been missing for a few days. I have seen them coming and going and they have had washing out for a few days. There was a 4 bed house on the bidding site a couple of weeks ago so I am wondering if they have been rehoused. We have had three lines strung from fence to fence plus the one rotary drier. today and we all shared the drying space very amicably. There is a better atmosphere here. If they sort the bins out I may stay if people get on better.

We have had seven months of the noise from upstairs and the problems of the bins. If we could get some cooperation from the Housing Association and things may change around here. I think I may stay but not if it goes on like it has been.

So there you are mar, we all think that you should fight this and we are all behind you, and if that doesn't terrify the PTB then it jolly well should. If

You sound so much happier nursemaggie. Will they let you stay where you are now your DS has moved out? It would save you an almighty lot of upheaval if you could.

Against all expectations I enjoyed every minute of THE wedding. I thought the service was delightful. Warm, relaxed, beautiful and very, very different. The music was sublime. Two of my favourites, the Thomas Tallis and John Rutter's blessing and the young cellist was astounding. I loved the modern touches. I bet it's the first royal wedding where there have been ripples of laughter during the service. The Episcopalian Bishop got rather carried away during his address, but no one could fail to be impressed by his message of love.
    Lovely day.

And now I am going to watch the highlights so I can enjoy it all over again.

I don't think it will be less disruptive staying. sooner or later they are going to put the central heating in. The gas pipe comes into the building but contractors will have to come and pipe it to each flat. There is no way they will end up doing it at the same time so I will have to shift everything twice. I have a 7ft tall, 7ft wide and 3 foot deep dresser to move made of solid rubber wood. The top half comes off the bottom but it still takes 4 men to move it. there are 5 heavy draws to come out 8 heavy solid wood shelves to come out otherwise they can't move it. When we moved to Bolton it took 4 men to bring it into the house two to put it back together and one little one to keep running his hands across it every time he cam past it.

I have to move all the furniture to the middle of the room for them to put the pipes in and then move them again for them to put the radiator in.

This will happen in every room except the kitchen where I am going to lose one of my two little wall cupboards to put the boiler in. They will start at 6am and finish at 6pm. Then I will have to clean up after them and put it all back. Council contractors do not have moving of anything or cleaning up after themselves in their contracts so I am expected to do it.

I shall have to pack all the contents of the dresser it has two huge glass fronted display units with shelves between and three huge cupboards under them so everything will have to be packed and somehow put into the middle of the room where I have a heavy sofa which I also cannot move.

I have somehow to find room for stuff out of my kitchen so they can put a boiler in and take pipes from the radiators round all the rooms including the bathroom which is very tiny. I can see me being told off because no one can crouch down to fit the pipes in between the washbasin and the wall for the radiator. They will have to look for a short skinny plumber because none of the bathrooms are any bigger we don't have baths we have showers. DS thinks it will be worst than moving because there will be no room for me or anyone else to wait to move things.

If DS does it he will have to come the afternoon before to move it all and he will not be able to move it all back because that will be after his bed time. I suppose I could go to my friends on Anglesey. That sounds like a good idea.

I don't think I would trust a plumber with my dresser it is all hand made with no screws or nails hand crafted and made in Malayan Colonial style. I think it was made in Malaysia.

If I am staying I want it decorating properly because really DS and I were rushed and we only emulsioned it and did the skirting boards. It really needs a lot of prep and it could do with new internal doors. They all have holes in them .
