Must apologise for being MIA over the last few days. We were at DS2 & DDiLs over the weekend for his 30th party, and then were at ex-mil's funeral on Monday...one extreme to the other2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

FPK don't go overboard (so to speak) on the trunks; remember the elephant will be bringing one!
Happy news this morning; our lovely son-in-law is now officially a registered paediatric nurse! :j He got a 2:1 and we are so proud of him, and of DD (already a paediatric nurse) who gave him a lot of help with structuring essays to begin with as he'd never had to write an academic one before he started the course. He has a job to go to at a children's hospital and is terrified and excited in equal measure0 -
Any ideas on how to completely discourage an unknown to us cat that spent quite a lot of last night trying to climb into the bedroom via the small window that was open? I've never seen it before in the area and it sat mewing on the extension roof for quite a while before actually making it to the frame of the small window where it sat precariously wanting to come in, He Who Knows sprayed it with water from the bottle we keep for watering seedlings on the window sill but it's too warm to sleep with the window closed and I don't want this to be an ongoing nightly problem. Poor little mite I just hope it's not from the newly built houses at the bottom of the garden or a stray looking for a home, any ideas on what might stop it climbing and trying to get in? thanks xxx.0

Mrs LW could you borrow Cookie overnight to act as deterrent to the cat?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

She lives with two cats Floss, one of whom is dominant and she won't pass him on the stairs. If Woody is at the top Cookie stays down until he moves. I'd love a cat but He Who Knows can't abide them so I'd like to move this little mite on as soon as I can xxx.
I've just had a read online and apparently cats can't abide the smell of Olbas Oil and I had some of that in the med cabinet so I've anointed the edges of both windows with it and sprinkled some on the roof tiles as far as I can reach along under the window. We'll see if that works.0 -
Coming on here for a quick read as it's always so uplifting. You never know when life will throw a curve ball at you.
Dh went to the local hospital on Monday for what we thought was not a very important test. He'd been a bit breathless recently walking up hills but that was all. When they saw the results they said 'you're not going home!' and they admitted him there and then and connected him up to a monitor. Yesterday transferred by ambulance to Kings and he's having a triple heart bypass tomorrow.
When I think what could have happened! We were going sailing next week and it could have happened out at sea. We have been so blessed! It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Good grief MaryB, so glad they got him. Sending you love and wishing him well tomorrow and a speedy recovery.
MrsLW, you may recall some time ago my saga with the neighbours cats pooping in my veggies and herbs. I did however solve the issue with a motion sensored cat repeller. It emits a noise only they can here if they cross it's path. Not sure if it'll come to it, but you could certainly albeit temporarily pop one up there. I tried everything else, smelly things, chillis, spikes to no avail, but this worked and continues to.
Congratulations to your son in law Ivyleaf :T Well done him.
Sorry about the funeral Floss, but I hope you managed to enjoy the party nonetheless.
I've been out for a cheap steak dinner (I was paid more than I expected this payday!). And had a weigh in after. I'm now 10.6 kg down, my bmi is in the healthy range now and I'm almost (a hairs breadth) away from having a healthy body fat percentage. A little more weight to lose, then I'll be starting weight training to build muscle. I *may* in 6 months have to post a shameless headless body selfieSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Don't worry Softstuff, I only break out the clingfilm on special occasions.
Mrs LW the cat is probably used to entering its own house similarly and has mistaken your window for home. Getting it back home is probably the most effective deterrent. We have a local facebook page where things like that get posted, do you have something similar?0 -
FPK that is a brilliant idea, I'll get He Who Knows to post it on the village page, thank you so much!0
