Nice sunny spells here but when the sun's gone it is very cold. Glencoe ski centre reporting 6 inches of fresh snow today

FPK - my mum used to grow lemons in this country. They were inside in the winter in a cold conservatory and then outside in a sheltered spot in the summer. Lemons were small, but very nice in a G&T. We also had the odd orange.

Excellent. This fits nicely with my plans...except for G&T, I can't stand Gin (OH loves it) but I do like a slice in various other drinks.

I've just had a got at swapping clothes around in the wardrobe. I've found two skirts and a dress I didn't wear this year, all due to various fit issues. I'll try them on when I can be bothered and see if they can be adapted, but my guess is it may be time to pass them along to someone new. I still have a few summer things in the suitcase under the bed, but I fancy a walk first. After I finish doing the sheets later I may do them, or I may review MMF's lecture notes ;) Indeed, summer doesn't appear to be exactly..imminent.

Mar...six inches? I hope there isn't any on your hill. I don't know how you cope, I barely manage in the comparatively temperate climate here.

I don't like gin either; it gives me the most atrocious headache. :(
I like a slice of lemon in a cup of tea, instead of milk. :o

Well, what a difference a good night's sleep and a stern inner lecture has made!
Another job off the list of other people's stuff!
Am about to do my tax return. Have almost all figures totalled-up, just need to do the multi-stage log in to HMRC and should only take about 20 mins then. I shall pay my NI at the same time, then that's it for a good while. My next day off I shall do DH's! His takes a bit longer but his record keeping is good so I can easily knock it into shape for the relevant boxes on his return.

As I went to the car to get my diary (mileage record!) the sun was shining so I paused and did 10 minutes weeding of the communal path to the back of our terrace. Surprising what a difference just 10 mins can make and 'a stitch in time saves 9' came to mind! I came indoors again when the breeze got up, the sun disappeared, and it was perishing cold suddenly :(

Like MrsLW, i have reinstated my winter coatigan for between clients tomorrow. After a good workout cleaning other folk's homes I easily feel the cold journeying between jobs.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

I have a lemon tree. It is brought into an unheated conservatory for the winter and out in the garden for the summer. They don't tolerate being over watered, I keep mine stood on gravel, and feed with liquid seaweed based tomato food. I also spray it with water, think it helps set the blossom. Already have a few tiny fruit
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.

Negotiations for the sunny window spot have begun. I tend not to be a zealous waterer, and have a dish that should work with a bit of gravel.

Good news, OH has just checked the energy bill online and it is under our estimated budget for it but....just exactly the price of one lemon tree and one bottle of food.:D Clearly the universe agrees with my plan.

Mar, maybe start a new winter knitting project, just to stave off the cold? OH saw I'd swapped my clothes round in the wardrobe and said "Great. What a way to ensure we get no sunshine!"

Going to "feel like 2 degrees" here tomorrow, so looks like it'll be back to the warmest coat again - apparently not for long though.....

kittie I think you were going to view a house recently but you haven't mentioned it since....I just wondered if it was a "possible" and that you're mulling it overl Or if it was so bad that it wasn't worth mentioning.

Fairyprincess, you don't want tips from me about lemon trees. If you saw mine you'd laugh. I have a lemon and a lime at the bottom section of the garden that hasn't really been gardened yet - I put them in when I picked them up reduced at the garden centre. As a result, it's frankly a surprise they're still alive, but soldier on they do. The downside is, they both look like they've already been through the mulcher, thanks to the grasshoppers! I'd send you this mature lemon tree if I could, because frankly, it's chances of survival would be better with you :rotfl:
