As a primary school child I was told to go upstairs & put my shoes on as there was a dead wasp...I went upstairs, picked up my shoes and trod on daid wasp on my way back carrying my shoes
cue sting on foot! I also got stung insidd my mouth when a wasp got into my chicken sandwich on a hiday picnic!
Don't mind spiders, mice & hamsters, but can't stand snakes or rats or earwigs - slugs & snails are classed as plot vermin to me & DH. We have a couple of toads who live in the plot greenhouse, our pond teems with frogspawn every year and this year we have seen a common newt too.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

In todays efforts I have learned a number of things:
1. If you're going to learn to wallpaper, don't pick an expensive mural as the first thing you try, it elevates stress levels.
2. Planning wallpapering takes a long time (1 strip is up).
3. I strongly dislike gloss painting doors (2 down, 5 to go - 6 if you count when I get a front door).
4. I didn't realise when we started the main bedroom, but in terms of labour, time and general bother, it's a harder room than the kitchen will be including all the cabinets.
5. I shouldn't have eaten the lamb vindaloo last night.
6. My husband has the patience of a saint and I'm lucky to have him (see points 1-5).Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Softstuff and FairyP I just love your suggestion for getting me some energy. Are you sure 18 months is long enough? Perhaps I'll make it 2 years to make quite sure.
Softstuff, never mind expensive mural wallpaper, just don't try papering a very large bedroom with many nooks and crannies and not one wall perfectly straight. Particularly don't try papering it with cheap paper that stretches when wet with paste and shrinks as it dries and has a pattern of thin diagonal stripes that have to be accurately matched up, (DS1's choice.) I managed it and time has healed the wounds though the scars are still faintly visible. I used to get a migraine every time I went in there.
Hester I hope you manage to find a mooring for your boat. I salute you. Don't think I could cope with having to find a new site for my home every few days. It must get more difficult for you in the summer when all the holiday makers are out and about. It's nearly a year now since you took to the water, isn't it?
Nothing much happening here, thank goodness. I think I'll start practising for my 18 months on the sofa.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

I think you should play it by ear. What's another 6 months after all, if nothing else it demonstrates patience, which other people tell me is a virtue.
And ouch to that wallpaper. Although this wall isn't entirely straight either... given that I did some plasteringSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

Another busy day, DGC's to preschool, then on to Bicester to collect birthday cake, back to collect DGC's, took them to the boat for lunch, then to Dunelm, then on to dd2's to babysit, just collected CHS and now we are home.
I used to live very near Bicester - little village called Upper Arncott. In todays efforts I have learned a number of things:

Like you though, I now have a DH with the patience of a saint, and who will do any task he is asked to without complaint. :T
Personally I'd say lamb anything, and anything vindaloo are both bad ideas; and put both together, it sounds like an extremely bad idea! :eek:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I don't wallpaper, not ever. I'd get bored of looking at it in 3 weeks and want it off the wall. I just paint. A lot.0

Agreed. You wouldn't want to push it and undo all of that hard work. And, you absolutely must undertake a period of training before you begin.0 -
Sounds like there's consensus Monna - I like the chaise longue idea too
Mar - if you want to do some painting I have plenty do do here - two rooms with bare plaster to do as well as the garage doors and the windows...
I've just lit the fire. I don't need it as the heating is keeping the house warm, but it's such a miserable day that a fire seemed like a good way to cheer it up.0 -

The one who was the best just stopped the surgical side of his practice due to failing vision, so I'm back to square one. She needs somebody with a really good beside manner and who is approachable. Unfortunately, the surgeon that meets all of the boxes doesn't do breast!
She's not talking to me this week, I made the mistake of tellin her that the wedding wasn't all about her!
Dr lurking again. I've had a reduction fairly recent!y by a top female surgeon. Would you like her details?Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
Well, that's settled then. LameWolf, you can come and help us finish the wallpapering. Mardatha, if I fill the house with new and interesting Australian sweeties will you come and paint? Klinkers? Jaffas? Chicos? Redskins?
As for getting bored of it Mardatha... I picked something I couldn't get bored ofI can imagine some people may be a bit... astonished by it, but then who doesn't love accordions and bicycles in trees? That's just a clue, I'll post pics when I'm done.
LameWolf, I generally enjoy lamb, and spicy, but it did not agree. At least that's what I assume it was. Could have also been the sambal ikan bilis.... or the hot salt and pepper calamari.... or the bangkok beef....Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
