Thank you all for your diagnosis that all I need is 18 months on the sofa, with 6 months training and a 6months recuperation period afterward. May I quote you?
Wondercollie, so glad to hear that you have some warm weather at last. It's from one extreme to another, isn't it?
We are apparently destined for 2 days of downpours and then a gradual climb up the barometer until we get back to a beautiful spring at the end of the week.
Lots of indoor things planned for today and tomorrow.
I week today I am destined to take a church service and it will take me at least 2 days to plan it. I am right out of practise.
From this Thursday onwards life is going to be full on. I hate it. Boredom suits me down to the ground.
THOUGHT FOR SUNDAY
If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "Thank you," that would suffice. (Maister Eckhart)I believe that friends are quiet angels

My thoughts are with Karcher today. I so hope she is coping. Kardher, if you can find a moment to check in with your Fencer friends, please do. We all want to offer you some support.
I felt really rubbish yesterday. Think I was very tired and a bit stressed about the amount of 'paperwork' I have to do for this household and my mum and MiL. I have given myself a stern talking to, acknowledged that some of the things on my 'to do' list can be pushed back and I don't need to run myself ragged right now! I did get quite a few jobs done and so the list looks smaller. Some of the things only took 20 mins or so but just getting those done makes a dent in it all.
Right, I shall have another coffee then jump up and start one of the jobs in the list! :jI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Morning all,
We have sunny intervals here, but it is cold. I've done a bit of pottering in the garden, but nothing major. I've decided we need a lemon tree, I've chosen one and worked out what food to get but need to source a sunny window first. There is one spot that is perfect, except that Maggie the Cat has her favourite chair and blanket in that spot and I suspect she won't approve of any mere mortals re-arranging her life to grow some silly plant. She has had her flea drops this morning so is in a bit of a grumpy mood, although she did lower herself to join me in the garden for a potter. She is now sitting next to OH's desk insisting that he crack the window for her while he gets on with some marking. :rotfl:
MMF, quite right on that stern talking to! Isn't it amazing how sometimes we can take a difficult and stressful time and heap it up with things that seem so urgent and important? I might have to borrow your stern lecture notes now and then.
Hugs to all who need them.xx0 -
Hugs MMF007. It's sometimes amazing the pressure we put ourselves under for things that can actually wait a while without exploding. Sometimes looking at the mountain is enough to trigger it. If you're anything like me though, having things not done on a to-do list is stressful in itself (there's a reason I no longer allow jigsaw puzzles in the house!). I hope your mountain subsides.
Fairyprincess, I had no idea you could grow lemons over there, even in a window. I have enough bother trying to over here. That said, you likely won't be faced with the same tropical pests we are... and you're not going to get a possum eating them either.
Wallpaper is up, but now I'm feeling anxious about shrinkage. When up, the seams matched, as it shrinks back they're showing a bit. Ho hum. Followed all instructions, so will have to live with it. Actually not sure if I'm anxious for the wallpaper, or just over tired from a poor nights sleep. Anyhoo, bed for me soonish.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Second attempt at posting this morning, an argument will ensue tomorrow when I contact my WiFi provider.
We have a nice 48 mooring at Woolhampton, we will move on tomorrow, today I'm cooking roast lamb and reading a lot.Chin up, Titus out.0 -

I would estimate my chances of reaping more than one lemon from this tree to be less than 30%, but such real world calculations don't typically dissuade me once a plan is hatched :rotfl: I have, however, done some research and found a variety good for beginners. I would imagine freedom from pests will help. In my head I'm working up to becoming the sort of gardener with an orangery, greenhouses, cold frames, an orchard and probably a staff of about 12 to manage it all. In reality I have a slap dash approach to about 20 containers, spend a lot of time on rightmove pooh-poohing otherwise perfectly good houses because their gardens are inadequate and lusting over things in nurseries and garden centres that have no place being the possession of someone who rents and has no allotment or time/transport/resources to manage one at present. I do have a cracking herb season in summer and don't kill (many) plants. I shant be winning any awards though.
Any tips gratefully received:)0 -
FPK - my mum used to grow lemons in this country. They were inside in the winter in a cold conservatory and then outside in a sheltered spot in the summer. Lemons were small, but very nice in a G&T. We also had the odd orange.0

Blimey it's chilly out there today! I'm just off to walk Cookie and I've dug out my down jacket again, I'm wearing a wool tunic and a heavy scarf and I'm still cold! Just off to find my sheepskin gloves before I go, early today as it looks like rain in the not too distant future and I really want a walk!0

I think I'm another one who could do with MMF's lecture notes; I regularly find myself trying to do six things at once, whilst planning ahead for another three, failing to do any of them efficiently, and berating myself as a total and utter waste of space.
Weather in Concrete Cow Country today is utter pants. I'm just grateful that Honey brought her nice warm coat with her, and she's good about having her paws, legs and undercarriage toweled dry.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
