Softstuff, we all get days like that and there is no one to take it out on but the nearest and dearest. In my case it's the dog, but one gaze into those eloquent eyes stops me dead. So it's 10 minutes of self pity.
The only thing to do is to keep telling yourself that this will pass. As I think I've said here before, it may pass like a kidney stone, but pass it will.
I'm just off to bed to see if I can get a couple of hours sleep in before the ears are clacking like castanets as Millie wakes me for the first foray into the garden.
Hello
After a long time of reading and benefiting from your posts ladies (and any gents that are there.) I felt I had to re set my password so I could log and and thank Monnagran for this post. I am struggling health wise and regularly say 'this too will pass'. Lately it's less convincing. The kidney stone bit made me laugh and the smile kept returning all day. Thank you so much.
If no one minds I may try to join you good folk more often. It's beginning to look as though I may need to give up my part time work because of health issues. I have eight years before my pension is due and it's a very hard decision but I will have more time and I may be able to contribute and help some one else in turn.
Thank you again for yesterdays post and thanks to everyone for the posts that remind me there are lots of kind folk out there.

You just call in at any time emptynester. Most of the folk on here are struggling with something, illness, chronic bad health, grotty housing situations, less than happy families, financial constraints, relationship breaka-ups................you know, any of the fun things life hurls in our direction. Youd be most welcome here.
Well, another glorious day. I'd sort of decided to get the bus to Ald*s today to have a bit of a stock up, but in view of the rare warm, sunny day I've undecided it. Who wants to spend 3 hours on buses and inside shops when you could be pottering in the garden with plenty of stops for a sit down with a coffee. Certainly not me.
If I now go back to catch up on yesterday's news I'll lose this post and give up in disgust, so I hope everyone is coping and making the most of the weather. Sorry mar.
I do hope this is not our summer.

Well come Emptynester. I'm the poster the others will warn you about, they are convinced that I'm a bad influence, but really I'm as pure as the driven!
I've just spotted the spotter, these are the CRT staff who walk the towpath listing which boats are moored where and reporting the overstayers to head office. They can be unpopular with boaters as they are a bit like traffic wardens but they are only doing their job.
Sunny again here and I need to sweep the side of the boat as the verge was cut yesterday and we are covered in grass trimmings, but at least the nettles are shorter now.Chin up, Titus out.0 -

Good morning Fencers and welcome Emptynester . I seem to remember early on the poor health thread someone with your name helping a poster who's daughter had gone to uni and left her distraught .
Apologies if that wasn't you . This fence keeps growing so always room for one more .
We have the extra S so finally secure . Well done to the techie team last night :T

Having a chuckle over the difference in US holidays. A colleague of mine was talking to our office in the US and the girl was talking about the upcoming 4th July holiday when she asked him ' Do you all celebrate July 4th?' quick as a flash he relied 'No, we don't celebrate our defeats' - needless to say it was completely lost on her.
I was hoping my ladies at age concern might dry off today but it seems they havn't so I'll take a walk up to the village in this beautiful sunshine and sit for a couple of hours coaching them on their tablets.
Hope Mar gets to see the fireball in the skySmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I would potter in the garden monna rather than face shopping . We have to make hay while the sun shines .
It's very kind of you to help your ladies silva . I could have done with you when my eldest daughter bought me the laptop as an unexpected gift and told me the best way to learn is to just get on with it :rotfl:
Luckily youngest has guided me through while insisting I do as much as I can myself . My fingers couldn't cope with a tablet monna has my admiration as she does battle with hers .
I've just been on Wiki and National Procrastination Week in March does exist . Each month can have 3 or 4 things going on . It's all a bit mind boggling .
Dare I ask mar if there is a glimmer of yellow in your sky ? The sun was shining when I woke up a couple of hours ago . I'll try to send some but will somehow have to get it to go right and head over the Pennines and up the east coast .
You're lucky to have the variety of birds and changing scenery as you move the boat Hester . As a child and in my teens I longed to live on a houseboat . There were a number of books where houseboats featured . Pure as the driven what ? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Has anyone else found the log in has changed ? Rather than clicking on my username before logging in it was one click and straight in .

Another glorious day here. Hopefully it will spread northwards soon Mar.
To undecide, what a wonderful concept Monna. Sounds better than changing your mind.
Looks like more garage tetris and perhaps a bit of gardening will be on the cards here.
Hugs to all who need them.

Silva, we've been advised to lie wherever possible and say we are buying for a caravan rather than a boat.Chin up, Titus out.0

You know Polly, that's exactly what I thought when I read Hesters post :rotfl: She doth protest too much.
Welcome Emptynester, pull up a seat at the fence, have a cuppa. If you're lucky Monna will bake something soon.
Silvasava, your mention of holidays differing reminds me of the first year I was here in Aus. I didn't realise that mothers day here is different than in the uk, so when the signs went up in the shops, I grabbed a card and gift and sent them over. Mum ended up with 2 mothers days that year.
Monnagran, your thought for the day may end up in a frame here. It tickled both of us greatly, thank youSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Hello fencers
I have been MIA lately as we have been having new windows and patio doors put in. To put it mildly it has been a stressful time. Almost two weeks of upheaval but they are on the home straight and with only the finishing touches to do now, thank goodness. I have come to realise that I don't like strangers ( workmen ) in my house for such a lengthy time and have had an arthritis flare up, coupled with shortness of breath. ( but it too will pass, to coin a phrase )
Anyway I have been trying to read along and keep up to date with your antics ( yes, you know who you are:D ) or problems etc. So I just wanted to say that I appreciate every post. Thank you.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0
