Monna - you've had your battles too and this little group of battle hardened warriors will always have each others backs to support through the tough times and rejoice in the good times.
Bye the way - new engine fitted in the boat and I reckon I can cram about 14 on board 15 if someone sits in the head - might be a bit low in the water though. Can borrow DS1's boom box for Ride of the Valkyries as we steam into Bembridge harbour brandishing our rolling pinsSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

Oh monna, that reminds me of a friend of mine who, whenever anything belonging to one of her grandchildren needs mending, they say confidently, "Nanny will fix it!" and she usually can.
She also made a cassock for her adult son, and got jolly fed up doing the buttonholes! He asked her if she could make him one because he'd become an altar server and his church didn't have a cassock the right size.
Of course we are all rejoicing for you - you are a darling and we love you to bits :A

That's lovely Islandmaid
I forgot to say I'm meeting Churchmouse for coffee and then lunch today. We planned to do it last Thursday but she went down with a horrible cold.0 -
monna isn't it just lovely to have such touching faith and devotion from a DGD.
A little advice on house hunting. Register with Rightmove and Zoopla. They often have the same stuff but they tend to give you different information. Insist on your areas because they will keep taking you further and further away. Before you know it they will be sending you 3 story houses in Southampton, well it is nearby. The other thing I get is Student house shares.
Do register directly with the small local estate agents. They are the ones who go out of the way to accommodate you for viewing. I honestly think some people on being told your day off is in the week, think you have the weekend off too and that if you have to get up in the middle of the night to get to work you can still stay up until midnight.
This morning it's persistently raining, it feels more normal than the bright sun we had last week. We just don't get it here in November.
It's a day for sitting in the warm knitting and listening to podcasts. Alas I have one carrot and one chicken breast so I must go to market.
I rang my doctor yesterday and she put me back on my old tablets for my neuralgia. I have slept like a baby for nine hours and I have no pain this morning.
Sorry I have been a crybaby it does help to vent on here.
Burtha I hope you have your place on the market by now and that it sells soon. We are all still behind you.
karcher hope things are improving for you.
Enjoy your lunch monna, hugs to all who need it.0 -
Good luck with the house hunting Monna and NurseMaggie - and we just need burtha to make the trio....Monna - you've had your battles too and this little group of battle hardened warriors will always have each others backs to support through the tough times and rejoice in the good times.

I once went on a canal boat holiday with 10 blokes (yep, 10 blokes and me, THAT was a good holiday :rotfl:) but when we pulled in to any marinas all hanging off the sides, people said we looked like pirates...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Islandmaid - think we'd be heard before we were seen lol! Ooooh - we could all be lady pirates - I've already started growing the beard. Its getting past the stage when I can call them stray eyebrows.
VJ's Mum - I'm sure there's a lot more to tell about that holiday - is that where HuH got her idea from with CHS??
NM - fingers crossed for you and so glad you're out of pain at the moment and had a decent nights sleep. It does make all the difference doesn't it.
Burtha and Karcher - thinking of you both and positive vibes being sent xxSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
nursemaggie So glad you had a good sleep and the pain's better :j0

Well the wash out of a day turned into a bright chilly day before I got to town. I could have done to have had two trolleys, not really I'm not fit to be let out with the big one I have.
I bought a 30 cm fibre optic Christmas tree. It will go on the dresser, only £2.99. I have some tiny bells I can hang on it. Works by a battery.
In the food market two reasonable chickens for £6. I kg of stewing steak only £6 a small ham joint only £2.50 so I have put that in the freezer for Christmas. I bought my usual 5 kg of chicken breasts.
I had already bought 4 boxes of danish biscuits like in the tins but in fancy boxes for Christmas, they are only £1 each. I bought two boxes last week and we have eaten them all so I thought I better get 4 while they still had them. I could put half of one at the opposite side of my mouth to the holes and let it melt.
Anyway my trolley was nearly half full when I got in the food market. There were a few things I would have liked in the frozen food stall but my trolley had two chickens and some veg on the top so no way could I buy them. The grocery stall had a well known brand of individual Christmas puddings 3 for a £1 but I could not have carried any more.
I had a good hour and a half at the market. I even had a free piece of cake from a bakery on my way to the market.0
