So this is it, Hester.
Don't rush to fill up every minute of your day. One of the best things about retirement is waking up on a bitterly cold morning, picturing your erstwhile colleagues scraping the ice off their windscreens and snuggling back under the duvet.
Enjoy. You've earned this.I believe that friends are quiet angels

MMF007, yes, when we say over here the rain is bad, you need a canoe rather than an anorak!! I honestly never considered having more of a need for wellies here than in England.
Monna, the overengineering on my part comes from being overly anxious and yet curiously DIY capable. My anxiety means I can imagine readily the thousand things that could go wrong with a given project, my DIY nous means I can engineer to avoid all imaginary pitfalls. It takes longer, but I sleep better. And it's not rusty we'll be getting, more likely mouldy. I'll never forget the year I pulled my fluffy slippers out of the wardrobe for winter... when they went in at the beginning of summer they weren't fluffy
Ivyleaf, the iron may take a while, but I have a steroid inhaler too and that seems to have started working today. I felt when I work up as though my lungs has declared themselves open for business after a brief period of closure!
Pollyanna, I am quite sure we'd rule the world at full strength, just not sure the world is ready for it. I wonder why, given all the advances in medical science, we're not all just a bit more constantly monitored for these things. Still, I'm grateful for how fast things move here and that my doc is so eager to help.
Pollyanna, if you're struggling to find the correct size 6, please let me help out by sending you a couple of stone to pad out to a more available size
Mardatha, come on over here, the rain has stopped and the sun has come out. Albeit briefly I expect.
Hugs Babs, sorry life is so tough for you all right now xx
Nursemaggie, I hope the cold leaves you soon. I'm not going to be boss. I turned that particular job down before it was even offered. I work in a sh**storm, have no umbrella and am blamed for the climatic conditions.
GO HESTER! :T So happy for you on your last day. Leave them in it and go out whistling. Hope you enjoy U3A, I think you'll have a blast.
Love to all, I'm trying to get online a bit more, but it'll be intermittent.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
So glad for you today Hester :j :j :j
nursemaggie Good luck with your claim. So sorry about your cold - I hope it starts to clear up soonest!
Softstuff (((HUGS))) I'm glad your lungs are working better! My DD1 uses inhalers now and feels so much better. She's finding that things she couldn't do a few months ago, she now does without thinking about it.0 -
I’m raising a virtual glass of champagne to Hester on this, the last day of her old life, and for tomorrow, the first day of her new.
Rock on, Hester, the fun starts here! One life - your life - live it!0 -
Congratulations on getting there Hester. The feeling this eve must be like no other.0

Just realised that I have deprived you of your THOUGH FOR TODAY.
Here 'tis.

NM, shame about the herbs going, but good idea to pinch out some growing tips in Spring. I shall do that. Hope your cold soon passes ((0)))
Hester :beer::beer::beer::j
Softstuff, the inhaler should help while the iron kicks in, hope so! Your furry slipper story reminded me of when we bought a soft cheese product that was from Poland. They had translated the name of the food as 'fluffy cheese'. I assume that meant whipped or aerated. It was lovely BTW.I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Loving your thoughts for the day MONNA ❤"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Delurking to say enjoy your newfound freedom, Hester
I've always said that on my last day, I'm going in and going for coffee. I mean what are they going to do? Fire me? We had one manager who showed up on her retirement day, listened to report and went to her office. Then left the building at 0745!0 -
Quiet in here....
Has this fence been deserted? Is there a sparkly new one somewhere that you have all de-camped to? Or have you all set sail on a large heffalump with arm bands on?
'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0
