Hope the electric behaves itself and stays on now.
Ours went off on Saturday evening, but only the sockets.....after a bit detective work I deduced the kettle was the culprit! Need to buy a new one now....managing with the little spare one that lives in a box in the garage.

Thank you. The electricity has been behaving itself since yesterday lunchtime. At least I was able to tell from Facebook that it was affecting the whole area.  Apparently there was a lightning strike on a substation.

In our last house we kept getting power cuts . All the neighbours were OK and the electrician couldn't trace the fault. Eventually we woke up on Christmas eve to no power downstairs.  DH spent ages with the fusebox and finally traced it to the boiler. We called the gas board who changed the pump at 10.30 that evening.

Thanks, burtha. I'll bear that in mind for the future. We're under lockdown this week as we've both got covid! I ordered a kettle to come with our shopping and DD took it all in at hers next door and sorted it for me.

We're more or less over covid now. Just the lingering cough and weariness  to deal with.
    How are you, @burtha

Apologies for my absence Fencers. Still under Drs orders and trying to fight off the flares. I have spent a lot of time in bed which isn't normal for me but due to struggling to sleep rest seemed the solution..
Still clear of the virus, going out locally for a quick locsl shop and to Drs or youngests only once or twice a month seems to have worked.
2 weeks ago did a big shop at the Coop round the corner.  last week Drs and picked up her bloods form for monthly test at the hub. into local pharmacy next door for pain killers for me then headed to see DD.
it was my birthday the day before - starting to feel old! However not old enough for the latest booster jab.
Youngest looks wiped out and exhausted she's struggling to sleep too. She's had a number of appts in past 2 weeks. Superdoc twice the Hub snd others. So glad Superdoc is back in charge . He' s written to the Local Health Authority seeking a dentist to take over from the BUPA dentist that left. Still no contact from the practice who have her on the waiting list for the replacement/
She may have to travel out of area if there isn't a local dentist available. We have tried but none are taking new patients.
She is in pain and very anxious as she's open to infection so is prepared to travel anywhere to get things sorted.
I'm surpirised how she is feeling the fear and doing things anyway. At the Surgery twicw last week the at the hub on Monday.
She still feels anxious but is trying to do things on her own which is a positive as I've always worried how she'd cope alone.

Lovely birthday presents when I was leaving hers. Six pairs of lovely soft fluffy socks in different pretty colours. They will be bedsocks when the cold weaather arrives I've been   using my boot socks beyond their original pristine state during the last two winters
3 big shiny tubes of voltarol emulgel which often helps lower pain levels rather than resorting to strong meds.
We'd been wondering about a cruelty free spray
supposed to detangle and condition hair. She trained as a stylist before he health took her off her feet and kept my graduated bob under control in recent years if she was well  enough . We both have very thick hair she  trims the ends of her hair if she's up to it which is rare. Mine is too long and keeps getting knotted.
So she'd bought me one of the sprays and one for herself. It smells wonderful Sweet Almond oil  and Coconut and is begiining to mousturise sofen and make our hair more manageable.
There was a still warm 2lb wholemeal loaf fresh from her breadmaker and to my surprise one big spider plant! I've had my eye on those since she almost drowned the " Babies" from  her original plant  and sent me a panicky email. All are now big plants and mine is very welcome.

I need to read back . I hope you're both on the road to recovery Mrs CD we have the annial airshow over the beach which was postponed the last two years  tomorrow and Sunday. It always brings thousands in to the town so I will watch the Red Arrows  and favourite Typhoons from my back garden as I've done often in recent years. The 2 Arrows that fly out then return to cross each other start that over here and sometimes one will fly low along the side of my house. Quite a shock the first time but nice to exchange smiles.
Flower show is due soon after the two year break always busy but I've been there many times along with shows from Scotland to down  South and am slowly working my way again through the Geoff Hamilton DVD planning for when I have some go in me again.

i have no idea when your wedding day is burtha but was so happy to read your youngest daughter was at the Hen Do and coped. She has come a long way with Uni and coping away from home and now the hen Party. I've said it before but you have done exactly the right thing through the tough years and more recent times. I know how hard that can be but you kept moving forward step by tiny step and life is very different for you all now.

Hope Nan and Mr Fixit are ok. can't remember whether I welcomed the new posters but it's always good to welcome new friends.
I have had Monna in mind and hoping she is ok.
Last i heard from Mar she is ok but pretty wiped out with too hot weather so reading and knitting.
Take care everyone. I'll start reading the posts i missed when i've eaten something. keep forgetting to eat.
Yesterday and the day before I followed the online BBC news feed from the crack of dawn to late at night.
Laughed at Larry the Cat saying hello to his favourite reporters outside No 10 then in the evening refusing to go back in to No 10 as someone kept opening the door from inside to let him in.
Looked at his twitter a while ago and he has come up with the best leaving present ever.
