I hope everyone is surviving the heat. I always struggle with hot temperatures. Wrong genes. We are all fair skinned, blonde, strawberry blond or redheads. It was too hot yesterday to watch the Red Arrows and Typhoon from the back garden. Only one Typhoon this year they're mainly on standby as they're the ones who chase off planes heading for the Uk that shouldn't be.Tossed and turned all night. can't open the bedroom or any other windows as pollen count is very high. I brought the milk in just after 7am after the milkman had left it and even that earliy my nose started to itch and my eyes start watering.I've been like the prophet of doom muttering The Summer of 76.I hope those who love the sun are making the most of the heatwave. I just feel like a wet lettuce. No doubt youngest is too. I'm strawberry blonde but she and dd1 are redheads. DD1 became a blonde years ago thanks to Toni and Guy but it doesn't make much difference..If she's working at RHS Harlow Carr today she'll be in melt mode already.I'm hoping youngest grabbed some sleep. Todays annoyance is trying to complete my email provider update. She set the account up some years ago when I was changing from Yahoo. There's a password in the little black book but she has put a cross through the 7 nothing for the phone no the account was set up from . Think it was her iphone so trying to remember how long she's had that no. Will need to trawl back through the diaries. Can't email her so will have to phone and she doesn't cope well with phones. With a degree of hearing loss since childhood she gets very anxious. We wouldn't be taking a walk in this heat and hayfever but those walks pre covid really helped physically and mentally.Although I posted a few days ago I've just had to sign in to MSE again. Hopefully the day will get better,I read a very interesting article yesterday explaing the big reduction in NHS dentists. One reason is they are no longer paid for prevenative work only hands on treatment which has a big impact on their ability to run their practices financially and also means lack of preventative treatment means more demand for hands on which they don't have the capacity to deal with.Yesterday wishing I was in the garden I started to catch up on a blog I always followed, "The Poor Side Of Life" by Charlotte Hughes. I trawled all the way back to last summer and the amount of info re things to come in that year was shocking and also for this year.Benefits and Work and many other organisations provide that info and it's where I read about the NHS dentist shortage. On a lighter note I remembered "Down to Earth" a blog I followed for years. Written by Rhonda Hetzel in Australia it's very MSE. Living on a budget growing food, cooking from scratch, crafting sewing knitting and other crafts and a lot of make do and mending.t's a long time since I first started following her blog. Was so impressed that when she brought out her first huge hardback book and then the second I ordered them. Long trawl to find an online seller and quite a wait for them to arrive. First came new from New Zealand then the second one from Austraila. Very thick and heavy and something I would never part with. Her husband Hanno was very ill a few years ago and things went quiet. She'd brought out some paperback and Ebooks which I downloaded but they were lost when the Dell was no longer usable.Yesterday I put her name in to search and she;s back. Sadly she lost her beloved Hanno and had to step back from the blog.I'm going to go back to following her again. She has made a lovely home on next to nothing. Handmade or lovely Thrift Store buys inckuding very pretty crockery, vases etc. They are a close family and despite their loss are pulling together with her adult children and the grandchildre visitng her to help with the tasks she struggles with now.A ray of sunshine in tough times. All her posts over the years are still there so I may read back to the start. It seems she's on Instagram but as someone who doesn't sign up to FB and other sites I'll stick to the blog.I do manage to have a peep at Ravelery now and then without signing in and have found some lovely knitting and crochet patterns there.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

hi , everyone..
hope you've got your hats ready and your dancing shoes polished
life's full on with wedding prep atm ..
booze is bought , plants are ready , dress sorted , rings got ( frogs cost the grand sum of 9.50 ... but he likes it , it's made of silicone) .. prepping the hall on Thursday, then I'm doing the flowers , being practicing button holes and there looking ok and bits of other stuff . so think I know what I'm doing .... maybe not but if all else fails I can stop at a garage on the way down .
did I mention I'm driving our 33 year old landrover down , complete with ribbons and paper roses made from the old music sheets .
so Friday is wedding day .
it's very odd .... in a good way .
we have a mix of people coming to the night bit . all very good solid friends ..
time to relax soon

ps I hope everyone's OK and coping with the heat xGosh burtha I could have done with an advance warning. Nearly choked on my brew. Been wondering when the big day is and you suddenly say the day after tomorrow.Good job I have some weddingy hats.Friday is a good choice think Saturday is suppoesed to be hotter. This is a time we have all looked forward to after you rebuiliding your life one day at a time through good and bad times.I was thinking about you when I started rereading the blog I mentioned. You're a real oldstyler with a modern twist. I never knew there were silicone rings. If you ever stand still long enough you could write a very good book on living old style in tougher times. Facing the fear and finding your happy through the years.I'll be with you in spirit on Fridayand wishing the best life possible for you all.It just proves if you kiss a frog he can become a prince.Keep on running love but not on Friday!pollyx

Oh burtha! Trust you to choose the middle of a heatwave to get married.
If it's any consolation, (and it won't be,) I also got married on the hottest day of the year, but that was almost 60 years ago. The thing I remember most is that we had the reception in a beautiful garden and I had prayed for weeks that it wouldn't rain. As it was, the sandwiches were toasted by the time we reached them.
You have come so far, burtha. Now you deserve every good thing that can possibly happen, and that is my wish for you.
God bless you. xI believe that friends are quiet angels
