Another Geoff Hamilton fan here, I loved his cottage garden and I had his cottage garden video. Think I wore it out because I did more viewing of the video than any gardening !
We have lost either Sonny or Cher this morning, one of our resident pair of collared doves, it seems they were on the breakfast menu for the Sparrow Hawk as there were feathers all over the garden 😥
Burtha love the stories of Alan, Barry and Colin, fingers crossed they have moved permanently and not just gone on their hols🛫 Plus I'm glad it's not just me who names the visiting animals 😁
Polly I hope you and your DD are feeling a little better.

When we first went to Barnsdale it was a surprise how many had strong nostalgic memories of Geoff and it's certainly kept his legacy alive over the years.
I think the dvds have been very MSE over the years. I'm not signed up to TV packages. Happy with iplayer and freeview CDs and DVDS.
I remember watching Cathy Come Home on the BBC in 1966. I was already aware of Ken Loach the Writer but not sure it was true to life. Think it was set in Salford. The young husband lost his job so they ended up homeless with their three young children\. Three years later my 1st husband  and I married . He had a good job and we were ok
I did begin to notice things weren't so easy for some of our neighbours. We were all renting back then. There were good times as time went by but not for everyone. Some people just didn't have enough to manage
Ken Loach has written a lot more since.
Many don't have the lives we had. My parents weren't wealthy but we were loved , well fed and learned life skils as part of normal life.
Youngest has been pretty wiped out. She  had to change her latest Dental appt so that should go ahead next week. I need to pick up her bloods form from the Surgery as she's having her monthly bloods done at the Vaccination  hub  just a few minutes walk from the dentst. That means dentist and bloods are done in one go rather than her needing to travel the miles to the surgery to have them done. This will be the 3rd month and so far it;s working well.
.That's sad about your collared doves. The other one must miss it. We get sea birds rather than birds of prey, although the owls can be but I don't often find any feathers.
The seagulls haunt the promenade or town and will snatch anything edible from unaware tourists.
Are you managing to take things easy? I did reply to your pm but hands were hopeless and off it went into the ether.
PMs are maxed out so I started deleting earlier. Pity there isn't a quicker way than one at a time.
Hope Mr Fix it is ok
I don't know about anyone else but I can't keep track of the days due to the Bank Holidays. Today feels like a Sunday rather than Wednesday.
    Take care Amy.

Thanks Polly, I'm sorry that your DD is so poorly, I am sending her healing thoughts. I hope your poor hands behave themselves and are not painful, please take care of yourself, it's so easy to look after others when you're also in need of TLC. Guilty as charged m'lud.
I have been struggling this week but on the plus side thankfully DH is still here and battling on so we are able to help each other.
The other dove is wandering around the garden calling for it's mate, it's so sad. BTW I lost half a sandwich to a seagull when on holiday in Teignmouth one year, it frightened me when it swooped out of nowhere 😱
I too can't tell what day it is, I thought today was Friday. Think I've lost the plot somewhere along the way, too much time/space travelling or sitting on the old suitcase I reckon 😂
    Love Amy xx

Just watched Paul Merson doing a Winter Walk and talking about his life, family, and his addictions. It seems like he's really trying hard to get things together and I hope that him talking about things will encourage others to get help if they need to.

I watched Alistair Campbell's walk a few months ago where he spoke about his depression & the support he had.

Went out to Tesco last night on a hunt for cream horns for my dad. I was just thinking about things I used to like but don't see so much of these days. The baker used to come around the houses in a small van, and during the holidays, when I had to go to my Grandma's, she would buy me a frangipane cake. The ones in the supermarket aren't quite the same, they're too dry.

There are many things I remember from childhood including all the different people who would come around the houses including Scotts bakery with bread and other baked goods . Mum mainly baked her own bread and cakes but would sometimes buy from the bakery van , meat or fish man.
Out insurance man came on a push bike. he came to me when my first husbad and I married and shortly afterwards aquired a car which was a surprise. He was a lovely man as was my coalman who kept the coal coming in the 70s when the lights went out and we had a toddler and a new baby. It wouldn't work nowadays but there were many who kept things going and became friends.
I hope everyone is ok. I have been struggling . Superdoc suspects I may have two rotator cuff tears again as the steroid injections haven't tackled the pain. It's years since the first two tears and every now and then it happens again.
Tomorrow is sorting DDs PIP form and sending that back so I'll need to go there.
I did a big shop this evening at the Coop some price increases but not as many as I feared . I've stocked up for a month so should have time to get the pain sorted.

I need to pick up DDs bloods form from the surgery on the way out tomorrow as I was too late  getting there this evening. I'd decided to walk there but the legs weren't working too well.
She was at the dentists Monday and her dentist is leaving so she's pretty anxious about that. He has been wonderful and very mindful of her physical health meaning she's ECV and taking her anxiety into account.
He did a deep clean on Monday and has put her on the list for the new dentist and has left his notes for refence. he's very thorough and didn't want to do any treatment he couldn;t check himself at another appt.
She's been having her monthly bloods done at the Vaccination hub to save her travelling to the Surgery . it's just a short walk from the dentists a couple of minutes so it will mean an extra trip to town.
I'll just be glad to take the PIP form to the village post sffice and her bloods done. I'm hoping it wont be too long before she has another BUPA dentist. It was going going so well and she trusted the dentist  although it usually takes her longer to trust someone new.
I was looking for something earlier today and came across a set of three metal pots on a metal tray for indoor herb growing I bought a while ago in either Homebase which closed  a few  years ago  or possibly B&Q. Still boxed up  and in perfect condition . I recently ordered some of Jekka's herb seeds . DDs indoor growing has expanded so I picked up some seed compost this evening and will see if she fancies growing her own herbs . She does use a lot of herbs in cooking ordering them with her SBs order.
Maybe that will keep her occupied until the dentist is sorted . She's very frustrated . Rather than take on BUPA debt she;s been paying at each appt and being very frugal and looking forward to the implants. A lot of her medication especially the immunosuppresant has damaged her teeth and our dentist retired with barely anty NHS practices and none taking on new patients. So the only choice was private..
I need to get to bed. At least I washed my hair before going out this evening so one less thing to do.
Take care everyone. it was lovely and sunny today but is pretty cold tonight. It's strange to think we're nearly half way through the year. I'm just watching the weather rain for us in the morning  but drier in the afternoon so will head out early afternoon.
I was looking at all the flowering shrubs when walking earlier and the dreaded hayfever struck.
I have 3 months of my Hayfever tablets at DDs and one tablet here so must remember to pick up them tomorrow and take the one here tomorrow. I'd normally be three months in to them now in normal times but this year seems to have gone awry.
Take care all let's hope for a good summer.
I did pick some of dds favourite organic eggs today. Hopefully mashed up egg will make a change from the endless soup althogh the soupmaker has been really useful and she seems to be surviving on soup!
She's got a lot to work through in the soup book all of them healthy. I was glad to see my favourite Celery soup in my book but have realised I forgot to put Celery on the big shopping list. might pick some up on my way out unless th shop is busy.
The staff are probably worn out after packing  all my bags.

Colder, windy and heavy sky here today. I was going to pull some weeks but I'm wimping out and going to do some sewing instead. I have two skirts which are gathered at the front waistband, but they stick out too much, so I'm going to unpick and see if I can make them a bit flatter. Maybe pleats would work. DH is sorting his DVD recordings....could take a while!

Hope you get some relief from the pain soon, Polly.
