I enjoy cooking and baking, but on my terms! I make basic meals, ie nothing fancy or complicated, and the cakes etc that I know I can make well. Otherwise, you can keep the TV cookery programmes. I'm just not interested in what they make as I wouldn't make them. I can't eat pepper or spices as they make me ill, and usually tv chefs use lots of them.
I wish I did fancy some of the recipes, but DH doesn't complain so long as he's fed and watered regularly!2025 Fashion on the ration

Do you enjoy using your Kindle, maddiemay? I used to use mine a lot, but found after a while there wasn't much of a selection that interested me. A Kindle is good for saving space and weight when you pack to go on holiday, but I do prefer a good dead-tree-format book at home. One life - your life - live it!6

I too have a kindle. I find it useful to download umpteen free books as there are still thousands that I haven't yet read. ( avid reader and I will read almost anything within the horror/thriller genre ) It is easier to take away and it takes up very little space v my full bookshelves. Having said that I still prefer a proper book, I just love the feel of the paper. Perhaps I'm just weird ?

I have a kindle but mostly use it to go online, to read blogs and knitting/crochet patterns on a larger screen. I have the kindle app on my phone and tend to read my kindle books that way. I also have the audible app so sometimes listen to the same book when I'm busy. It's often cheaper to buy the audible version as an add on to the kindle version than to buy audible on its own iyswim!
I've started just buying the paper version of the books I want to keep, and kindle ones of those I just want to read once.2025 Fashion on the ration

I've got one, it's extremely portable,so if I have to go somewhere I need to wait [ docs, hospital etc] I take it, it goes away with me. I probably have duplicates of a lot of my real books, I love it, even though I thought i'd dislike it before I bought one. I prefer real books, but the kindle is so much handier to take out and about. I have the app on my phone and tablet so can always rad something somewhere, I find having it on the tabet means I can read cookbooks more easily and get to see colour pics. That's good for using in the kitchenon a stand.Edited bit - I've bought a few cookbooks lately that were 99p for the kindle or £25 for the hardback, so boviously, the 99p ones won..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5

I have the kindle app on my phone and, once I got used to it, find it really handy. It means i can take the smallest of handbags and still have a book - or many books! - with me. I do like good old paper books too and mostly read in that format (mainly from Chazzers) but it's useful to have the phone one.I wanna be in the room where it happens6

I have often bought second hand books for birthday and Christmas gifts. I get them online from WOB (previously World of Books) and the description tells you what condition it's in so you know it's not going to look tatty. I am happy to admit to people that their gift is second hand, there's a lot less embarrassment about this sort of thing nowadays, and I find most people I know are more environmentally aware. One life - your life - live it!5
