    Polly you said it then.

Would. Did. Talked. All past tense.

And personally I don't log on to read long repeating posts about the old days.
I was speaking about the current thread Floss. We tried our best to keep the Fence going  with far less posters and topics. You do but some people have no knowledge of history and what got people through tough times in the past.
I wont be bothering you again with the old days.
Talking about people behind their backs is not acceptable to me I will take myself elsewhere  with thanks to Wolfie MrsCD and the other posters who've helped to keep the fence going in difficult times.
Sorry Monna we tried. love to burtha her Frog and the family enjoy your life and have a lovely OS wedding day.
Mar and I will still be friends.

Polly, it wasn't me who had an uncle who put wool away for the wool club, but I do remember shops where they would keep the wool to one side with your name on until you finished what you were making.

I want to stay and I want Polly and Mar to stay. I came in at some point when the alleged heffalump was already allegedly under the patio or in the freezer. I can follow some of the thread but some references pass me by. But this thread is like stepping into a book of out of the door of the tardis (or the back of the wardrobe) - an alternate universe and for those of us who've spent the last 2 years mostly 'confined to barracks', a safe space where we can have adventures. We have confined lives (mostly due to illness) but we do not let physical limits restrict us - we can go anywhere, do anything, be anything.

I'm currently having to weigh up what I can take up or down stairs on my one and only trip each day. I try to do as much as I can in my room before I go down, do what I can downstairs and when I can't manage any longer/ do any more I come back up. I'm constantly frustrated by things being on the other floor (and things being on the floor as I can't be sure that my feet will go where I want them to). So being able to visit places I've not yet been to (I brought up the poison garden at Alnwick when Burtha was doing her virtual round Britain run and we were all suggesting places to visit along the way and routes that would allow her to visit us all) or reliving memories of people and places prompted by the reminiscences of others is lovely.

I apologise to Mar if she has felt in any way put upon. Polly was the first to rush to defend me when I was viciously attacked in another thread. Sometimes this thread is slightly repetitive but without a variety of inputs (which I'm as guilty of as anyone, not saying anything because not a lot is happening in my life - I'm still in limbo) Polly's done a wonderful job of keep batting the tennis ball back over the fence.

My mother and I used to bicker 'like an old married couple' but we loved each other (very different people and personalities). When she died, my one remaining uncle said this was normal - he and my aunt had been married a long time but argued all the time, particularly about bringing up their two boys. However when they've gone, you can let go of the troubled memories and remember the good bits. I hope Polly and Mar are both here for a long time. As for everyone else, start making positive contributions - be the change you want to see in the thread (with apologies to Ghandi).

Otherwise I'll have to tell you about the travails of my ex-s-i-l who's just come back from a visit to the USA (cut short by several weeks).

My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
