Someone needs to check exactly how many wardrobes or cupboards Monna has. She's also aquired a shed recently. I haven't seen Island Maid on the forum for a while so no idea how we could check.I wonder if Mar fancied a Hot Waiter herself and took him as well as the Policeman and his dog.pollyx

At some point I was searching for that chain mail armour knitting pattern on thiis thread and Ming//Mar was moving back and forth through Nice and then totally manic.She is a very long member of MSE. Her present post count doesn't echo that because there are the Alter Egos posts under different identities and posting history.pollyx
It's going to be a long, arduous task, but in the infamous words of Captain Oates "I am just off to Page 1. I may be some time!"

Zola, there is always an elephant. Or heffalump. Or hot'n'cold running waiters (didn't Burtha want one for her hen party? 🤔)

And please don't ask about the rogue Florence Nightingale...Many of us are still traumatised by Nursie Floss. Poor little Henri du Vac was when she moved in to Grey Queens cupboard alongside him.The problem is when Softstuff could no longer tolerate her she bribed a young student to escort her back on the boat to the UK. A very long journey by boat. As far as I'm aware nothing was heard of the young man or Nursie since Softstuff waved goodbye.Hopefully the young man ran away but Nursie is probably lurking somwhere.. It's not knowing where that's the problem.It would be very fitting if she was a lover of Heffalumps and was slowling heading up to Scotland.Meanwhile Ms Mendacity is back. "A coppers nark" what on earth has she been reading or watching? She is a definate one off in a world of her own.pollyx

ZolaBuddy said:All this talk of fences has reminded me that own garden fence is looking a bit tatty, torn and a bit ragged round the edges (I quickly hasten to add that I am not making any references/comparisons to said tatty fence and the wonderfully eclectic garden fence here
)
Not quite sure what to do with it. I suppose I could slap some stuff over it. Treating, is it called? Or perhaps I could replace.the tatty bits and put some new panels in. Or I could just quietly forget all about it and broach the subject when my parents pop round next weekend (I will use my usual heavy-handedness by dropping a few subtle hints to my dad)
Back to reality Zola. We do other things than discuss heffalumps here, Talk about normal things and try to help or advise where possiblet and is a safe place to be. No trolls allowed. Mar would probably put them in the ovenIf you are serious about replacing your fence panels I would advise buying the best quality within your budget,When I moved to this then new build the large back garden looked like a building site, Cement mixer had stood there so lots of cement everywhere and there was low wire fencing tied with wire to low concrete posts. Pretty useless and quite dangerous with the sharp wires.That was a couple of weeks before Christmas . I got the house as I wanted it then joined all the other neighbours who had just bought here and we spent the summer installing fence posts, bases and wooden panels down both sides and along the back of each house. We all chose our own and I chose 6 foot high very strong wooden panels having noticed how strong the winds are here on the coast.They stood strong for decades then I had the posts made higher and bought 7ft high strong panels and installed 2ft strong trellis along the tops. The garden had 9ft high protection from the strong winds coming across the Irish sea and the fence is as good as the day it was finished.Storm Arwen killed my Gas boiler as it roared across here. I could hear fence panels flying around and smashing . Next morning mine were intact. It does depend on affordability but I'm good at saving and spending with an eye on the future and will wait until I have the money without going in to debt.It also depends on location if you aren't in the path of storm force gales you can be finewith decent ordinary fence panels. I got the original 6ft ones in the local timber merchents after some chat with some of the trades buying them who mentioned the weather conditions locally. I got the 7ft ones and the strong trellis there years later and was able to pass the 6ft panels on to a friend who needed a new fence.I've always used decent coloured fence paint on mine and it does protect the wood.pollyx
