Just noticed your post Monna. So sorry to hear about David. I wasn't sure if the care was temporary until somthing was sorted out it's sad to think of him lying there If he's able to think clearly at all he's probably longing to be with his Darling..Poor you too still facing the clearing out climbing those stairs over and over again. You seem to have been doing it for ever It's a difficult situation when darlings things were precious to her and he was reluctant to let them go,I hope you managed to get to celebrate Easter Sunday though problaby no time to knit the Easter chicks. I really wish there was somone to help you as you've helped others all your life.I know I've said it before but please pace yourself give yourself days off before you burn out.We all care about you and i wish I wasn't so far away as so many of us are. No idea if the flat is owned, landlord or council rented but is David iin a financial position to pay for the remaining hoard to be cleared? If it's social housing the council will clear and dispose of the things properly for a fee.A reputable company would do the same it's just avoiding the take the money and dump everything a few miles away which is common now types that need avoiding .All companies should be legally licenced and registered with local council and need that to be confirmed by the council.Re the Hot Waiter my mum had a saying among her many sayings. "Pull the other leg it's got bells on"Take care Monna.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Polly, I'm sorry to say that Ming the Siamese was a thug. He was a very “entitled” cat, and if he didn't get his own way, claws would be deployed. He also had the most atrocious meow known to human or feline - “MEEEOWWWOWOWWWWOWWOWWWWW” at mega-decibels.
As for the cardigan – still working on it. I can only do two rows at a time before my wrists hurt too much to continue, and that not every evening. I'll get there, eventually.
You are correct, one of my regulars is a Staffie named Cookie. She's an absolute sweetheart. However, my next booking is another regular, a Springy Spangle named Bessie, who has stayed with me more than 20 times now. She's due to arrive Friday, for a nine-night stay.
Monna I need to put my specs on – I thought you'd said you didn't steal the hot WATER. How comes I've never clapped eyes on this waiter? Is he a figment of someone's imagination? Or are you keeping him confined in a broom closet? Oh, I see it's your wardrobe he's occupying.
Right, well I'm for taking my mug of chamomile tea and hitting the sack. I did probably more in the front garden than was good for me today, but you have to get out there when the weather allows; and if I don't do it, no-one else is going too. I did put up an advert for the Weed Fairy to come and do her thing, but thus far, no dice.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)11 -

We're turning in to night owls. I've been trying to drag myself to bed for ages You made the wise choice living in a bungalow Wolfie. I'm really beginning to dislike stairs these days. Sometimes it feels like climbing Everest.I wonder if the "Entitled " Ming has come back as our Ming . That would make sense especially when you mention Mega Decibels.Oh I remember Cookie and Bessie. Did the little Cockerpoo who stayed with you ever revisit?I Iwas amazed how quickly he made himself at home . the picture you posted made it look as though he'd lived with you both for ever..My hands and wrists seem a lot worse over the last couple of years .Todays lovely weather really helped but the rain arriving had them flaring again. I seem to have done nothing but edit typos lately head and hands out of sync.I'm going to be sensible like you and do a few rows of knitting and limit it. I've been doing different forms of mos stitch so constantly moving the wool back and forth .May be better setting a certain number of rows then leaving until the next day.The counted cross stitch is more staying focused on where I'm up to. my mind starts to wander. The hot waiter is indeed in monnas wardrobe he's been there a very long time for an overnight stay. I'm wondering how he copes when Monna is entertaining guests in her en suite. loo .lPerhaps she has a portaloo.I used to drink Chamomile tea years ago maybe I should do again. Through the cold weather I've been taking hot chocolate to bed which probably isn't the best idea..pollyxxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I am lucky with the hands, although I've got knobbly lumpy hands with swollen joints, they don't hurt. Yet. I tend to knit faster now in case suddenly I can't knit at all anymore. Which is kind of daft.10

Good morning all, and thank you for the warm welcome.
My partner and I, observed (with some effort) a "No Gadget Day" in our household yesterday. We do this from time to time as I sometimes believe we become prisoners to our devices and lose all sense of human interaction while we tap tap tap on our phones.
So yesterday we went for walks, played some board games and video games, or did a few small little jobs around the house that never seem to get done at the time for one reason or another.
I also take an interest in astronomy, and living in the Lake District has certainly helped me explore the night sky in far greater detail compared to when I lived in cities and all that light pollution. Alas, the weather hasn't been great with thick cloud blocking the Heavens. But it is quite enjoyable spending a couple of hours in my back garden at 11pm and looking out for meteorites, planets, constellations, nebulae and the odd galaxy if I'm lucky!
It can get a little spooky sitting in the garden in the middle of the night with owls hooting and foxes sometimes yelping, along with moths flying around my face and red torchlight. But its all worth it.
Anyway, time for some breakfast. Have a great day, and thank you again9 -
Until 18 months ago I lived deep in the country with dark skies, I miss that. I love the night, so much gentler & more peacefu than daytime.

My hands are starting to get knobbly too. The one I'm most concerned about is my ring finger. I can't get my wedding ring off any more and it's starting to worry me.

Not quite so great up here in the Lake District but still good. And as you say, very peaceful and mind-soothing after a hard day's toil.
On many occasion I have asked myself if there is life out there in the universe, and have always concluded that "yes" there must be.
Oh well, back to the here and now. I suppose I had better cut the lawn and help with the weeding7 -
