Yes used to be the Cafe Royal but is revamped and very impressive now. The Oxford Bar is not up to much, just trading on the Rebusname I think. Haven't been into Edinburgh since before Covid and now we've moved it's a big hassle to get there, first time in my life I've lived so far away8

Enjoy your time off burtha. It was actually sunny and quite hot here today which is a pleasant change, I finally ventured to the shop; First time out in a month but the flare seems to be calming somewhat. An hour wait when i phoned for a taxi so decided to walk there . Automatically put the big coat on not realising the weather had warmed up. Was melting by the time I got there! They'd just restocked again so like last time seems to be the best time to go there as there weren't many in the shop. i shouldn't need to shop again for a month so it was worthwhile.I phoned a taxi from the freephone in the shop and he arrived in ten minutes . loaded everything into the boot and carried it al to the front door. So much better from that awful version of the firm we always used.Once I'd put everything away I collapsed into the armchair. These legs aren't used to walking anymore!Hopefully off to see youngest tomorrow and collect the orders that have built up there over the last few months. each time we 've arranged for me to go there one or sometimes both of us haven't been up to it.There's a new bedside lamp . lots of different light bulbs and all sorts there so I need to pick them up. She was with her BUPA dentist again on Monday and she described it as pretty brutal. He is wonderful so careful knowing she's ECV and prone to anxiety so is slow ansd steady . He has recovered from Covid which meant her apt had to be pushed further ahead until he was clear. We both believe she is in very safe hands . Very expensive but is keeping her safe. our surgery is now suggesting a fourth jab at the hub so need to fit that in somewhere. The main reason I barely go out is to keep us all safe. I don't want to risk any of us by wandering around shops. it's a few months since I've been to town now the pharmacy are delivering her meds direct. my antihistamines are now being delivered too.Fewer trips to shops mean I'm spending a lot less money so with few taxies too the savings are building up a lot which is good looking at rising utility and other bills. I'm glad my mum was adamant about not borrowing and getting into debt. She was horrified when i got a mortgage but 25 years later that was over and done and not paying that or rent makes a big difference.I didn't see it as debt but investment in the future which it proved to be.My last paymrnt was just before the new millenium so nearly 22 years ago and worth a lot more than the price of the house back then.It looks as though we should begin to see some better weather so looking forward to some time in the garden and fruit, veg and herbs to see us through the coming months. My bit of fence will be kettle lid blue so we can make a rainbow for burtha and her frog.Take care all.polly who needs to go to bed. it's tomorrow already and Im stuck in this chair.ETA Postman delivered her PIP form which was supposed to be next year after the backlog. Knowing they'd had a big recruitment drive because of the backlog i wasn't surprised.it's going to be different. So many things they don't want such as GPs feedback. Our GP has always done what he calls a report with very clear information and everything has just been clear and up to date. I'm going to look into that as each renewal the decision maker has mentioned the clarity of his report and awarded the high level of points.Throughout the pandemic he has been proactive and keeping up to date so need to check out benefits and work about this. She has seen consultants and others recently so there is feedback. It's an if it aint broke don't fix it situation and the form is due back in two weeks so not much time.It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Isn't it funny Polly how some govt departments are working away without problems while most are struggling.. and funnily enough it's the ones responsible for clawing back money not giving it oot..Was cold here and damp, only started to get nicer at tea time. Am hoping today will be better, the RV's bike comes home today (been in storage for the winter as we've nowhere here to keep it dry and cosy
) and if it's nice then he will get out to play onnit and I will get the house to myself for a bit.
Trying to plan out a front garden, all we have so far is white gravel and it's doing my head in, I need some green and some flowers.7 -

peace and quiet hopefully.
ming , when we moved here we had a back garden that contain at least 6 tones of gravel ...was very depressing. now it's sorted after loads of hard work . lots of mistakes planting stuff in the wrong areas but it's still nice now

Trying to plan out a front garden, all we have so far is white gravel and it's doing my head in, I need some green and some flowers. It really is strange Mar we have some friends former NHS nurses who became assessers to try to bring some honesty and humanity in to the system.iLong before before before Superdoc arrived the GP who did the antenatal care for the two younger dds recommended I apply for DLA on youngest dds behalf.Things were orme humane back then.and it was fair and based on her medical records. When ourl lovely GP whispered she was to retire soon but would be leaving her in the safest of hands she was right. Shortly before she left newly qualified Superdoc arrived and he's been along side youngest for over twenty years now and fought long and ha rd to have that wsrong diagnosis when she was 13 which cauesed her so much damage corrected .Alongc came her tranfer to PIP all was going well until they changed the system sayind Drs letters were no longer wanted . and should not beShe had a lot of complex complex health conditions so he leaned back in his chair , raised his eyebrows and said ok welcome to thr GPs report...Each renewal the surgery staff trawled throgh the reports since her tast renewal and a hefty report accompanied the forrm.Every decision makerread his report and enhanced in both catagories was the result. He became a board member of our hospital trust when Jeremy Hunt was the man going in to hospitals shaking hands and superdoc woulsd say I'll need to get the Yoga mat out guess who's on his way, Our former GP was good but he's in class of his own. Precovid dd was always his last morning patient every other Friday and when the important stuff was over he'd take his glasse and lean back in his chair for a non medical chat . Sometimes he'd smile and say guess who I'm seeing later seeing later and start humming the tune to Born to Run. Easy we'd say 'Unt and we'd sing a few verses He's monitored her over the last difficult years made sure she has caught uo with consultants and others and all her tests. I have no doubt a Drs report will go to Wolverhampton with her PIP form. It's a pity we can't clone him people like him are needed more than ever now. Thankfully BJ never made it here but I'd love to be a fly on the wall if he had; We saw footage of him trying to drive a Blackpool Tram but as I found years ago it;s a long winding journey to Blackpool from here unless you walked across the sea and I Ihink dear leader learned his lesson about water in his zip wire days.pollyxETa Youngests first PIP assessment was done at home as she was too ill to travel to an assessment. it was a young experienced former NHS nurse kind and gentle . Partway through she asked iff dd lip reads. DD does have a degree of nerve deafness from birrth but that never featured on the forms. The ssessors husband was deaf and she'd picked up the fact dd was reading her lips. She gave her some good advice we all had a cup of tea and some cake and the two natural red heads spent time discussing make up for very pale skin. When we read are our copy of the assessors report it was spot on unlike her last one from an assessor who sat at the far side of the room but claimed she'd physically examined dd she didn't and all sorts of things that never happened. I was furious when I asked to see a copy of her report before the decision maker looked at it. After a lot of hanging on the phone listening to Vivaldi someone agreed to send it out as I didn't trust the assessor .. It arrived a few days later a complete work of fiction. I was about to ask for a MR but the decision makers letter arrived next day she wrote a lovely letter she'd read the assessors report and compared it with dds prevoius assessments and medical evidence and saw right through it full points again and she wished dd well. I hoped somone would have been given their marchng orders after that. Other than that woman dd was always listened to and believed as she had such a lot of documented history. it's the only time i ever had to think of challenging a decision. I'd asked on the benefits thread about bad assessers reports and someone said that didn't happen. The same person also advised those being assesssed for the first time not to send a Drs letter as they never read them. For a while I would post there reminding people to allow plenty of time to get their Drs letter and send it with the form.It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
