Well I survived I have clean and empty floors throughout the house and clean and shiny work surfaces and appliances. Oven wouldn't come properly clean (much improved) and they have mislaid (probably binned) the top off one of the small burners but like the rest of the kitchen, it's 17 and a half years old so needs replacing at some point before I get too old to cope with the mess no matter how many adaptations I need (pan drawers for all the pans, plates and bowls and other heavy stuff).
DS3 and beloved both let lots of stuff go, the keepers are all bagged up to go through one bag at a time but it's mostly out of sight. The cleaner working with Beloved was really kind and gentle and I had asked them to start on the bathroom and the small bedroom so she could use it as a refuge if things started to get on top of her (all the bedding and clothes washed and dried in the last week have been bagged like with like so she could have gone through all the bedding and pillows deciding which should go to new homes or textile bank).
The cleaner clearing the kitchen had a tendency to bin stuff rather than clean. The microwave is out in the yard (it only needed wipe and the plate getting a thorough clean) and I think some of Beloved's many gadgets were binned - one minute she was pulling things out of cupboards and when I turned round again they were disappearing into a bin bag. think it will be fairly easy to retrieve them by feeling the bags and looking through ones with large lumps in. They can go in a big cardboard box under the kitchen table and she can sit cleaning them one at a time, perhaps when she and DS3 are watching a film or series.
Not counted the bags but the pile is approaching the top of the garden wall (5'6"?). Outside in the backs is the waste wizard stuff including 2 trolleys (they're staying/being returned) holding bits of wood and bits of metal/ plastic respectively + 2 single mattresses, one bed base, several larger pieces of furniture (ancient cube shelves and a bed base are well over 20 years old and have been in continuous use most of that time - many many other beds have died in between).
Before you all start telling me how old some of your furniture is, the oldest item in the pile is the remains of my grandma's mangle table. I've had it since 1982 (had actually still got the mangle underneath which was very useful when the washer malfunctioned and flooded the kitchen), it was in my grandma's kitchen all my life until I inherited it and probably dates back to the 1920s/ 30s (when grandma married) unless it came from her mother - I did have my great grandfather's bed and flock mattress when I first moved in to my house, plus the 3 piece suite that mum damaged with her mobo horse when she was 2 (1937) and the front room carpet square bought for my brother's Christening (1960).
My feet hurt and walking is slow (the cleaners did keep telling me to sit down - bug is making my breathing ragged and I did the going dizzy when I stood up) but I would like to take DS3 to the Hospice shop to buy a standard double bed, hoping they can deliver next week. DS3 is a good mattress wrangler but he may draw the line at carrying one 2/ 3 blocks of shops and then across the Town Hall square and the car park.
Need to work out how urgently some items are needed as we are low on funds (should get a small refund from the cleaners). At least I have my own couch to sit on (DS3 colonised the 3 seater but the 2 seater is supposed to be kept clear for me). If I go, I will take lots of rest breaks. Doing the cs/ textile bank run would clear some space and I could sort the food bank stuff for Monday - couldn't get out of the house in time to go to yesterday's session. One of the cleaners had 3 teenagers who love anime and manga so DS3 sent her home with some of his own design badges and keyrings, a set of books and one of the wooden katana swords (down to 9 swords in the swordery, I think). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage6 -

monnaII know you've read the book but locked in seemingly neverending insommnia I've just been trawling through TV Listings to see if there's anything to watch on TV later today instesd of talking to the walls. BBC2 are showing " The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" at 7pm tonight. You may have already seen it but I'm going to give it a go and see how it compares with the book.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Let me know Polly. It's one of those that I don't want spoiled. If you think it was worth it I can always watch on Catchup.I believe that friends are quiet angels

I was longing for a cup of tea but sat in the armchair all the way through. No ad breaks on the BBC . I wasn't disapointed by any of the characters and the little children acted their socks off. The scenery was beautiful and although there was dark content I found it a lovely change from the present situation. If Mar wants to see beautiful scenery she should watch it.pollyx
