Thunder and lightning this morning with heavy rain, but the Sun is trying to push through now. Hope everyone is ok and just busy! I've started on the grand kitchen clear out and having a cuppa before I start again.2025 Fashion on the ration

We have sunshine and showers but a trip to the laundrette means the bedding is all clean and dry.
Back to the crochet now in between writing a shopping list and coming up with some suggestions for sewing projects.Chin up, Titus out.6 -

Just got back from SA - been asked to make chocolate sponge pudding for 40 for tomorrow's lunch club.I have plenty of ingredients apart from eggs - think I will need to do at least two 1lb mixes so that is 16 I need.Bit nervous as I have not cooked for so many. Carl said just as we were leaving - could he ask me a question. Not been asked before. Carl gave me a pack of foil trays with lids - I will bake at home as the oven in the hall is always full when cooking the lunch.
I usually turn out my bakes on a wire tray but will leave these in the foil trays so they can be popped in the oven to warm through while people eat dinner.Carl is so busy. We had 3 homeless people in while we were having Bible study. We gave them hot soup and bread plus there were some cakes left from the ones I baked last night - I did a vanilla mix with jam and coconut topping. The homeless who came for breakfast at 6.30 had got wet in the storm we had last night. The shelter is full and no accommodation available so no one is moving on to make space for others.Mr F is popping round to Asda for 30 eggs.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Gosh, that that takes me back Florence. The most I've cooked for at lunch club was 70. Our meals for the homeless were interesting as we had no idea how many would turn up. Fortunately I only mostly did puddings for them, someone else did the first course. I found bread pudding was a good standby. I used to do quite a wodge of it and it supplemented the Puds if I'd not made quite enough and if there was any left over at the end of the evening our guests were delighted to take a piece away with them.
It looks as if it might be dry here tomorrow. Just as well. I've brought back a load of washing from David today and it would be nice to get it dried tomorrow.
I'm liking the darker evenings. The knitting has reappeared.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Got the baking done and had a shower then as I was tackling the huge load of dirty pots - we had a power cut. Blessed that it was a short one.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I cooked for 30 at stroke club, it was mostly ok but I never knew what I was cooking in advance. There was only a standard domestic cooker and I couldn't start until 10:30, the meal had to be served at 12:30, I had no help and one day I had to bone and skin 30 chicken thighs without a single decent knife.Chin up, Titus out.9

Hester, I had a few episodes like that which is why I quickly insisted on complete control over the menu and did a lot of the preparation at home.
I have another funeral this morning. Fortunately the family are providing tea and cake afterwards so I can just turn up.
The washing machine is doing its stuff and I will soon have a line of washing out dancing in the breeze, It makes me feel like a really good housewife. Which I am not.

Chocolate pudding was a success - served with chocolate custard of course. First course was Dauphinoise potatoes + carrots/broccoli + sausages/gravy. Only used 2 of the trays so enough leftover pudding gone into freezer for another week. So full when we come home - just not used to eating a big meal at noon.
