Lovely swans, Hester.
Where I used to work, we had to tell customers not to park under the horse chestnut trees at conker time, if it was windy, or their cars would be covered in dents by the end of the day!2025 Fashion on the ration

I'm up for a 60s do. I prefer rock & heavy metal really but the vibrations might shoogle me off me niche.

Sixties for me too - Buffalo Springfield, Jimi Hendrix, Chris Farlowe, P.P.Arnold, The Beatles (always plus a lot of other Merseybeat stuff), The Move, The Four Tops, The Hollies. I'll stop now. Makes me feel like dancing (which alone is quite an achievement the way I feel right now). Soft drinks only for me (I was a child of the sixties). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage6

Sometimes you all make me feel very, very old. I'll let you wallow in your memories of your youthful days, Beatles, Heavy Metal, Blue Nun and all.
Going back to mine it was Lonnie Donnegan, Guy Mitchell, (hands up all those who said, "Who?"), The Everly Brothers and frothy coffee. Oh yes! We rocked around the clock with Bill Haley and tuned into Six Five Special like good 'uns.
Tablet insists that we rocked like good nuns, which conjures up an interesting picture.
If you want a Thought today I'll leave you with one that my DIL posted on FB yesterday. I think she was smarting.

Guy Mitchell's 'She Wears Red Feathers' was played at my aunt's funeral (at the crematorium, not at the church service) and my mum sang along. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage7

I have three daughters monna and no idea how I survived that. Only son was prone to falling off his bike and ending uo in A&E but otherwise much less trouble and spent a lot of time playing football with his friends.I was a flower child Scott Mackenenzie's San Fransisco was the anthem then and I did wear flowers in my hair sometimes. Chris Farlowe's Out of Time and Handbags and Gladrags were favourites though years later Rod Stewart did a much better version of Handbags and Gladrags. I wasn't a Beatles fan but liked anything written by John Lennon.. I was a biker so a Stones fan.Looking back I was a strange mixture of things. I saved hard for Biba and later designed on her kitchen table original Laura Ashley dresses and have kept two of each for old times sake. They're probably worth a fortune now still in perfect condition but I keep them for the memories. There wasn't any strange alchohol or wacky baccy. My mum had a nose like a bloodhound and I'd have been in trouble. I've never really been a drinker and never tried waccy baccy. I like to keep a clear head and while others were spending on drink etc. I was saving for beautiful dresses. It's sad to think SM, CF John Lennon and many others are long gone. However the music and the memories live on. Many of us involved in flower power went on to become campaigners for the environment then many other issues and apart from the toxic ex I've loved my life.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I don't need to smoke whacky baccy, living on a boat there is always a nearby boater smoking it and filling the area with fumes.
I could have had a very wild time in the 60's as I lived alone in a bedsit from 16.
Unfortunately that also meant I was too skint for nice clothes, alcohol, smoking of any sort. After I'd paid my rent I couldn't afford to hear my bedsit and lived mainly on toast.
I loved the Zombies, Billy Fury, Billy J Kramer, Searchers and was a huge fan of tamla motown, Supremes, Smokey Robinson, Four Tops.Chin up, Titus out.11 -
I lived in an attic bedsit for a while in the 1970s. The only heating was a small oil filled radiator which totally failed to heat the room. I used to sit on the floor with my back to the radiator and my eiderdown over my knees.11
