Polly, I'm not sure if the sweet wee wummin, of whom you speak, is looking out for lambs or not, but I have it on good authority that she is nurturing a large patch of mint. Draw your own conclusion.
Speaking of which, and elephants, what sauce do you think she uses with the grey-type meat? Horse radish doesn't seem quite....um.....'large' enough.
I'm off to ferret around some more chaotic hoarding later, but am finding it hard to get going this morning. For 2 pins I'd go back to bed. However, that is not an option for us hard working, energetic, enthusiastic cleaners and tidiers.
Or me.

Elephant meat is not very tasty, even with sauce. What you have to know about them, is: they are very faithful to family, and, they NEVER FORGET. So anyone who is mean to a elephant's mum, dad, grannie, baby brother etc can expect that eventually, they will be visited by the family ... Of course, their mode of attack is not pounce and devour, they simply sit down ... on you, your house, garden, car, or whatever, and they are quite big, so be very careful. Unless you like the idea of becoming meat spread.9

Not sure if it's nonsense or not yet. There are already some issues with poultry supply shortage of labour folowing Brexit for rmany major producers and some farmers. I switched to lamb years ago and prefer it.It took me a long time to realise the eye has been replaced by Beeglie. I can cope with that thanks for supporting the change the Avatar campaign Fencers.Thinking about it I think it will be possible to get most locally produced Festive Fare but fires and flooding on a smaller scale here and much larger abroad have affected growers and the transport system is still a problem. You could buy and freeze a turkey now if you have no large items filling the space also frozen veg if you have the space. That should keep you occupied.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I'm planning to do a meat shop soon as apparently it will be more difficult from October, as another layer of EU protection is stripped away and the powers that be don't have any grasp of logistics or how to simplify paperwork - due to limited space I'm only thinking about a joint for each month and a coupe of extras. Think the bacon supply will be okay as stuff from Ireland is pouring in (just no way of getting anything out without a mountain of paperwork).
I saw a description from a UK exporter and whereas before Brexit a lorry load of goods could be described quite simply, under the current regime every single item has to be listed, with individual weights etc (they were talking about details for one lorry load of goods being like an old fashioned computer printout if you remember the old concertinaed paper with thin blue and white alternating lines) and then customs has to check it - if anything is wrong, it stays in the giant lorry park aka Essex.
Just checked online and a fairly local farm shop is open now and they have extended their shop - I tried to order from them last festive season but they were only doing click and collect (they had been doing veg box plus deliveries but stopped that in January 2020 - just as I needed them). Will have to see if someone can take me - a taxi each way would be a bit prohibitive. They still have some veg plants for sale (I have a few gaps as I spent so long building my garden structure) so maybe
DS2 and his gf visited on Saturday. We had mummy of twins first thing (with all four girls). Mum had phoned her as she had 'urgent shopping'. This turned out to be buying 10 pounds (money) of chocolate and delivering it to church for the chocolate tombola at next week's fair - not just the church but they are having several stalls at an event in the local park (as in the park is next to the church and runs behind it and the junior/ infants school).
After lunch mum's expected Saturday visitor came and about an hour later another couple came with flowers and a card. They all left about 3.30 pm (just missed out on the ginger cake I was baking). So after saying she didn't want cards or a party (last year was enjoyable but exhausting) we sort of did a repeat. I had wanted to go shopping or order online but managed neither, so on Friday evening I set to using what we had (starting with the going off veg) and a lot of imagination.
I'd conveyed the information about presents and a party to DS1 and DS2 and told DS2 she didn't mind flowers but not to bring them in a vase (I've taken 3 to the cs this year) - we knew he'd insist on bringing something. he replied that they were intending to call this Saturday (just gone) because they're away next weekend but if we were both too ill for visitors they could come the week after that. I checked with mum and she said okay (we didn't know the hordes would be descending) and I sent him a link to some rock rose plug plants she wanted. I've already bought her a climbing rose which has been outside a few weeks and is starting to climb all the mesh I put up.
They came after 6 pm with gorgeous roses (red , yellow and a variegated one with a bit of both and all the shades in between) a card for next week and a present to be opened at once. It was a digital photo frame loaded with an assortment of photos including some at DS1's wedding. It took both of them to set it up and I've taught mum how to switch it on and off, pointing out that it was the same symbol and colour as the one she uses for the tv (when she's not trying to use the phone as a tv controller).`
DS2 and his gf didn't want any food, they were going on to deliver some birthday presents to a friend and then going out for a meal. They did however do lots of helpful bits, opened lots of pickle jars for me and moved about a dozen plant pots (30 l) ones, some shelves, the frame from the old garden swing and 3 more of the large 2' long cast concrete edging stones (I only asked permission to have 6 by the front gate). I was explaining what I have to do with them to lovely gf and she said she'd be happy to take me to bnq to get sand and cement when they have the car.
She also offered to come back in 2 weeks and do some hours working with me in the garden. Today has been lovely too but this post is long enough. (I turned the laptop off before 9 pm but turned it on again to look at adult tricycles).
