OK. So now you are both making me blush.
Polly, why is your DD1 not living where I can get hold of her? I am about to get busy with books and pencil and paper to plan what to do with my blessed plot. Actually, blessed wasn't the adjective I had in mind, but as this is a public forum.......
The back is just about square but on several different levels. Someone in the past has built walls, laid stone paths and had bits of flower beds of strange shapes and sizes. I'm not into earth moving so am planning to work with what is already there. Cheaply!
The front and side are easy. The bungalow is on a corner so the garden wraps itself round two sides and is laid to grass that runs down to the 2 pavements. Boring but easy. I have in mind to plant a couple of smallish trees out there.
Today however, I'm catching up on ironing, haggling with my gas/electric suppliers and knitting yet more Easter chicks.

I know my sanity has been questioned now and again, (and the questioners still bear the bruises) but talking to myself has never seemed too attractive. Except when I need sensible answers of course.
So, as there seems to be no one to talk to and nothing much has happened since yesterday, I will offer you a THOUGHT and leave you in peace.

Sorry I wasn't well yesterday. On Monday I potted on 27 cabbage plants and about 3 dozen tomato seedlings. Thought I was doing easy jobs but I set up a temporary shelter for them and actually did a lot of bending, stopping, striding over things that were too big/ heavy to move. Definitely worked past my limit (sat shaking in a chair for ten minutes after my shower). I've just done about 12 bucket loads of soil (with shovel, trowel and garden 'claw' gloves) and that's it for the day but thinking yesterday's problem was that I have made my stomach muscles do a lot of work (they thought they were safe hiding behind all that fat) and it was a bit of a shock for them. Have also been having internet problems (signal keeps dipping / cutting out) so it's been late evening before I've been able to do anything on the laptop. Will try to do better. I've always talked to myself - I'm the only one who takes any noticwe of me and nowadays I have to talk myself through difficult jobs (things I once took for granted) - "Come on legs, you can do it, keep going keep going, just a little bit, a little bit more."My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage11

Wow! mothhernerd, you certainly gave those lazy stomach muscles what for. I think if I had done what you did I'd have spent the next day in bed.
I also have to give myself little pep talks, and tickings off, and very, very occasionally, a bit of faint praise. I'm just glad that there is no one around to hear me.I believe that friends are quiet angels

GreenB it happens. All too frequently in my case. The thing to save your sanity, is to remember that it is YOUR day, no one else's. You will never get it back again, so what you do with it is no business of anyone else's but yours.
That is the theory. If it only worked!
I see that the frozen north is slipping down over us this weekend, with particular emphasis over my part of the world. I had planned some outdoor work, but think I may have to re-schedule that. Before it arrives I think I will have to clear the area outside the front door. It seems to have become the dumping ground for everything I can't get into the house and looks like the aftermath of a particularly riotous jumble sale. At least if I can arrange things in tidier heaps the postman may continue to be able to beat a path to the door.
THEY say that the entrance to a house is an indication of the state of the inside of the said house.
THEY speak the truth.

Morning all.
burtha, isn't that just typical! You finally set your children free to live their lives, start thinking about what you are going to do with the rest of YOUR life and bingo! you are now responsible for grandchildren. Don't misunderstand me. I'm as potty about my grandchildren as the next besotted grandmother, but I must confess to a slight sinking of the heart occasionally when I have planned my day and suddenly find myself nursing a sickly child. Not that it happens often. And I always enjoy being with them. Well there is only one in need of my ministrations these days. Bless her.
Needless to say, the rubbish tip outside my front door is still there, undisturbed. The combination of several long phone calls, breadmaking and the inbuilt inertia put paid to yesterday's plans. I may have another go today. Or not.

glad I've finished work for the day, had enough of miserable/unhappy people . Not that I've got any wild plans for the weekend , blitz the house , walk the dog and run ... May paint a small table I've got , it needs some tlc .
Other news is the Frog will hopefully be heading back to the UK next weekend, after 3 month it's going to be odd having him back
