Brilliant Thought For Today, Monna9
-
Monna I love the thought of the day....made me chuckle so much.
Friday comes around so quickly....what is it about weekends - you cant wait for them when your working and hate them when your retired. Lovely sunny and warm day (in the sunshine) even have the patio door open as I type - and yes more washing on the line. well of I go to the ironing board - yuk.
Have a good weekend all9 -
monna, love today's
pity I sold my chainsaw.......
VJ they would be lucky to have you , someone normal and grounded.
well you will fascinated to know where I'm at on the running journey138 miles so far , so I'm approx at Hamilton outside Glasgow, only another 40 miles to lock lomond. anyone around for coffee and cake , could just do with a bit of sponge before I head upwards and north .
not a lot of much else to do this weekend as think there is snow planned

Morning - I think. It is thick fog outside and I woke to the merry chorus of fog horns.
Just think burtha, every step you take is taking you one step further away from me. Give my love to Loch Lomond when you get there and I'll join you for coffee and cake.
I have woken up with the firm intention of sorting out my living room today. Homes must be found for the piles of things on sofa and floor, fluffy duster on a stick must be flourished and the vacuum dug out from its hiding place.
I'll let you know later if this actually happens or if this good intention adds itself to the mountain of dead good intentions in my life.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
No one invites you to the top - you have to claw your way up. When you get there, you will sit there with all the others who were also uninvited - giggling.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Have trouble remembering how to fly.11 -
I love that sound monna. Reminds me of when I was wee and went to stay with my granny in Fife. I havent seen the sea since summer 2019 and I miss it

I'm by Loch Lomond Burtha, call in for tea and cake!
I lived on the south coast for a while (opposite monna) and can remember the fog horns well, especially at new year.11 -
Ming, I am Southampton born and bred so seagulls and fog horns are the sounds of home.I believe that friends are quiet angels

I grew up on the mouth of the Thames and well remember the cacophony of fog horns especially at night. We also had regular flood warning sirens which were presumably installed after the 1953 floods. Now I live close to the county ambulance station....it sounds as though it's the crime capital of the country!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Ooh where were you Living proof? I grew up on the Isle of Sheppey which is pretty much in the mouth of the Thames! I too remember the fog horns and the flood sirens (and the floods in the 1980s).
I wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
Well I managed six hours sleep last night and hope that's the insomnia on it's way out. I've been reading monna's thoughts for the day and loved them all. The Sunday one , the funny ones and the Winnie and Piglet one. The latter got youngest through many a challenging situation as she battled overwhelming anxiety and agoraphobia.. A few years ago before she had the realy good counselling she realy wanted to see a play in Bolton. It was a version of Terry Pratchett's Witches. Someone from the private Discworld group was going and offered to take her. It was hit and miss whether she could manage it but they got there and both really enjoyed the play. A group of them knew each other online and a meal had been arranged after the play. That's when she began to feel uncomfortable and would retreat to the toilets each time she felt panicky. She was emailng me and I was sending her quotes from Winnie the Pooh! The "Always remember you are braver than you believe etc" calmed her down and I bought her a lovely framed print afterwards she still looks at it if she's feeling anxious and it calms things down.Loch Lomand is lovely burtha however you and camelot should watch out for a certain wee wummin bearing a cake tin. She's not bringing cake but wanting your cakes. If she's thwarted don't accept a wee sweetie, she may have been to the Poison Garden and made her own sweeties. No idea if the Scottish wool shop will be open but worth a visit. I never did make my shopping list.Fog horns and ships whistles were the sound of my younger years when living near the Mersey I often fell asleep to the sound of them on a foggy night. One of my uncles was born on the stroke of midnight new years day and there would always be a big Irish hoolie either at our house or one of the families. We'd go outside near midnight and wait for all the shipping from the tugs to the big ocean liners to start sounding horns etc on the stroke of midnight. The loudest sound of all including fog horns even if it wasn't foggy. The memories are a big reason why I love this thread and miss it when it goes quiet. In the present situation it's good to remember when life was normal . Both good and bad times but we pretty well knew what each day would bring.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.10
