I hope to be back later today. We've had a few difficult days and now have a case of the variant in this area. We're ok but mass testing is about to begin. I haven't read back through all the posts but sending love and light to Doveling and a socially distancing hug. Thanks as always to monna for her thoughts for the day. I think they're much needed by many now. Bless you monna for listening to my request.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Monday's working day was cold , with broken heating, still not fixed so today will be fun.

Good morning.
I was awoken this morning by the happy pneumatic drill dawn chorus. They are laying a new gas main up our short road, to the village school at the top.
I read that there are blizzards up North. My 8 year old DGD prays for snow. She has never seen it and has a sledge in the garage, covered in cobwebs, all ready for the day when she can use it.
In the meanwhile she has to put up with dismal, wet days.
I have described to her the winters I have known, particularly 1947 and 1962/3, when it was so cold that everyone prayed for the snow to go away. I don't think she believes me.

Sorry to hear about your loss, @doveling. It must be so hard right now, take care.
@taurusgb, please look after yourself and take each day as it comes. We will all get through this if we stick together and stay safe.
Just seen the film of the panda enjoying the snow, on the news. Simon said "We really needed that!" He's right. We do need to lift our spirits at times, so thank you Monnagran for your thought for the day. It's much needed right now.
We have about 4 inches of snow up here in County Durham today and it's still snowing hard. Thankfully we don't have to go out so we can stay home and keep cosy. Made leek and potato soup this morning so we're all sorted. I'm about half way through making the Meadow Blanket by Lucy @Attic24 and DH is enjoying box sets of Sharpe and Monarch of the glen.
Stay safe everyone.2025 Fashion on the ration

It seems quite bright here today after a gloomy day yesterday. Not that it makes much difference to me.
I've been sort of planning my garden. Last year was spent in clearing it out, removing dead shrubs, brambles, nettles, concrete slabs randomly scattered, broken garden ornaments and the skeleton of a rat. This year it is empty of everything except weeds and paths that meander, go nowhere and stop suddenly.
It sounds like a big plot. It isn't, it's tiny.
I'm not up to a lot of earth moving, I'd have to find some earth first, but I am determined to get some colour into it.
I'm good at planning. It's action I'm bad at.
