A friend came up with an idea that I think will be the way forward. She said get a mixer tap with a shower attached, I will do this and see if the HA will connect it for us.
  • I hope the HA get everything in place for you Mar.

Steve had a visitor today, she has helped him apply for a blue badge, it's a waiting game now to see if he gets it.
It took ages and it really bought it home to me just how much life has changed, especially when I realised that Steve does nothing on his own so I am constantly on call.

Hester, a head's up if he does get the badge, a friend of mine took her Gran shopping and ended up putting the badge upside down, which she got a ticket for, so if you can get a badge wallet, help's make sure it's right way up.

As you're considering ways to make things easier Mar it's worth having a look at NRS Healthcare UK online. I bought dds transit wheelchair from them vat free. There are all sorts of large and small aids . It's likely you will be able to get things via Occupational Therapy . I paid for the wheelchair as there was a lengthy wait for assessment and she struggled with hospital appts on crutches.

As well as the main site they have an Amazon shop where I bought the wheelchair and a thick cushion. It was cheaper than the wheelchair on the main site, vat free and delivered by parcel force in a few days.

I restarted the Poor Health thread a month ago and haven't had time to get back. Dd is very poorly at the moment . Too ill for her drs appt Monday so that's rearranged for Friday. She's high as a kite on painkillers. Superdoc has prescribed an antibiotic tonight without seeing her. One of her ear drums burst earlier so he's back to firefighting . We don't call him Superdoc for nothing!

Hope everyone is plodding on and Hester and CHS soon get good news.

There but for fortune go you and I.
  • Forgot to mention Mar. When you're looking for bath or shower mixers try out the ones you can flp on or off much easier than turning conventional ones on and off. You can get basin and kitchen taps too that don't need turning.

I've got one coming tomorrow, from ebay Polly. It's a chrome mixer tap with a flexibe chrome hose to a shower handset. Press a button thing to change from bath to shower. HA plumber coming Tues to fit it and to put in an immersion which we haven't currently got.
Pre op tomorrow for 4 hours up in Edinburgh, and then Thurs down to the Borders hospital for a heart scan. It's all go!

Good to hear the HA plumber is booked . The immersion heater will be a real help too.

I'll be sending the vibes for good weather for the hospital trip. Re my memory Monna named it my inconvenient memory a long time ago. Like Meatloaf I remember everything! It's pretty exhausting having a head full of stuff. An overheard remark can start me searching my head for a song . A while ago I was pacing up and down the aisle in Wilkos trying to remember a Beautiful South song after someone walked past saying to their daughter " You know your problem "

It came in very handy with the former Rheumo consultant who was like the Heifer. I remembered everything!

This made me laugh Mar. I canny remember that previous life but would love to know just how evil I was.

Hope today went well. Looking at the time you posted you need to get an early night Missus and get ready for the Borders on Thursday.

Was a long tiring day but we came away very impressed with the hospital - a million miles away from the shambles of our local one. They do 20 bypass ops a week on people from the whole of Scotland, people travel down from way up north for it. I'm a bit demented today must be the ME lag. Currently running around Amazon buying loose fitting clothes and wedge pillows, then waiting for the Social Work to phone back re the loan of a shower chair.
I need extra jelly babies :D:D
