Oh, good luck with moving nursemaggie! xx0

HUH, yes, I bought decent largish gloves (quick to get on and off) for my job that involves cleaning, amongst other things.
I chuck mine in the wm after use and then turn them inside out and back to dry thoroughly.
I use several pairs a day to prevent cross contamination and have blue for kitchens and pink for bathrooms for same reasonI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
It will be a while before we can move could be six months. I have worked out that there are possibly 4 households are still here that were here when we moved in.
They are generally refugees, or were homeless and in temporary accommodation. . We both think that we should not have accepted this flat. We certainly would not if we had realised it was temporary accommodation. We have been a lot worse off because although the rent is less the cost of heating in more than twice what it was at the old house. You don't get housing benefit for expensive heating but I get full housing benefit.
Right now we have loud music from the top floor immediately above us which is so loud it sounds to be in this flat.0 -
Ooh yes I also have blue cloths for dirty jobs and pink for food surfaces blue for the loo and pink for the sink! Dh can remember that so he doesn't wipe the floor with the cloth I use for the worktops
ETA just reread your post and realised you are the other way round!! But Dh needs something to help him remember so this works for meIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

You really do have my sympathy nm.
I have incredibly inconsiderate, noisy neighbours who make my life misery on a daily basis.
The weekend just gone being a prime example. I just wanted to relax, listen to the radio and read my book but I ended up stressed, tired and on edge. After incessant banging of doors and other noise all day Saturday and all day Sunday I had had all I could take and just screamed
I really don't think they have any idea how much they are destroying my quality of life in my own home..it should be my safe-place but instead I am constantly on edge waiting for them to return home and for it all to start again

Evening all,
NM, you have my sympathy about difficult neighbours. I can't imagine how difficult being a refugee must be, but I definitely know the pain of having noise at all hours and people coming and going. I hope you're able to find somewhere you both feel comfortable soon.
Hester, I hope the bleach and bicarb worked for you. It has helps us with all sorts of rental grout.
Well, I was up at 5:30 this morning, started working and then took the afternoon off to visit FIL/MIL. FIL seems fine although they're both worrying; I think they seemed to have cheered up immeasurably after a chat and a bit of food. I got both of them laughing and after hearing about his regime I made an effort to turn the conversation to something else and I think it did them a world of good not to think about it for a couple of hours. FIL seems to be feeling fine so far and has almost finished his first round of chemo tablets with nary an ill effect. Fingers crossed this continues! Apparently even if this doesn't manage to get his numbers down there are plentiful other options all with good or even excellent rates of success. Unfortunately I think the big C word has both of them very wound up. Hopefully as the chemo progresses and he gets positive news he'll start to feel less worried.
Also nipped around some shops in search of new work shoes--flats for teaching as most of mine are wearing out. No luck. It really is not a good season for shoe shopping. We also mis-timed Clarks. The person on the door helping to filter the school shoe shoppers laughed at the fear that must have registered on my face when I saw the chaos. Fortunately I didn't see anything there worth trying on as I think the poor staff were pretty ragged. What I tried on elsewhere wasn't comfortable so back to the drawing board.
Hugs to all who need them.x0 -
nursemaggie I am so delighted to hear that you are planning to move. That flat has been a nightmare since the day you moved in. What with not having the room to swing a cat, or even a mouse, and not being able to dry your washing, problems with neighbours are really the last straw.
Six months seems a long time but having the end in sight will relieve the stress a bit.
I've just noticed the time and I'm missing the test match highlights. Whoops!I believe that friends are quiet angels

Our problem in the evenings. They are noisy intermittently two floors up from me. Usually music at night club level. Upstairs directly above children's heavy feet all day and often until 3 am. Loud talking male and female above DS bedroom during the night.
DS has to go to bed at 7 pm and I have started going a lot earlier. Night before last there Were children still out playing in our garden but they live at the back of the flats. Next door she was entertaining one of her friends just under my bedroom window. They never ask anyone in and always talk to their friends outside our flat not theirs. I feel quite uncomfortable when there is a dozen people just outside my kitchen window when I am cooking.
You can go to your local council and they can do something about it karcher. It is so difficult for DS to get to work so it makes sense for us to move over there. It is a bit difficult for the council when it is everyone that adjoins us because they have to get proof from your neighbours.
Have you tried having a word with your neigbours, karcher.0 -

I used the logic that food prep uses blue for safety and the pink I consider as red for stop and think, dirty jobs! But I love your memory trick for DH. Ha, hope I don't get confused now :rotfl:I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
FPK Try an independent shop if you can find one. You will pay a lot more but the shoes will last amazingly long. If you get stuck we have a lovely one called "Whitickers". I expect the children all go back to School next week so it will be very busy all this week. The last two weeks of the summer holidays is a shoe fitter's nightmare.0
