  • Oh I remember having to wear a liberty bodice including suspenders. But I wore socks so the suspenders were just a nuisance.
    Chin up, Titus out.

I wore liberty bodices too but my mum must have cut the suspenders off as I think I was in infants school.
Monna - you do yourself a disservice! I know that's what you may look to the outside world but that razorsharp mind gives you away ;) I imagine you as a 'traditionaly built' (apologies to Alexander McCall) Miss Marple ;)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Fuddle I often chuck a tin of baked beans into a shepherds pie base, the cheapest ones still taste OK in amongst the meat and can get away with using only half the usual amount of meat for four decent adult portions. Mind, we like beany things anyway but pulses generally will 'stretch' a meal. You can still add the lentils because they disappear into the sauce anyway don't they?

:D I wore Liberty bodices when I was little because I'd been very premature and was forever getting colds and coughs, so my Mum was terrified of anything happening to me. All I can remember about them is the rubber buttons, and the fact that when I went into hospital in 1959 to have my tonsils out (which was so common at that time it was almost a rite of passage) two nurses were undressing me and when they saw my Liberty bodice the younger nurse exclaimed "Whatever's this?"

I remember wool vests though. "Cherub" brand. Itchy.

  • I had never heard of tomatoes in mince until DIL served it up. I usually like tomatoes but not in mince
