Morning all - from (yet another) train to London. This time for a PhD interview and then on to dad's.
Pleasures for the last day and a half
1. Intended trip to see DS and take MiL out for dinner was a bit disastrous - train terminated at Rugby. Ended up going back home via Birmingham. A three hour trip for nothing. the pleasure is that i got some work done, OH and DD saw MiL and DS (they were all on different trains) and I had egg and chips when I got in.. And we are all a lot better off than the poor soul who caused the train to terminate at Rugby
2. Cleaned the bathroom and the bedroom. In a chaotic house, it was a small victory. DD cleaned the main bathroom yesterday
3. train to london yesterday and today - had hash browns with fried eggs for breakfast. yesterday i got two... :T Today they've been a little meaner
4. Good supervision and I have a good idea of what to expect in my 2nd year viva next week. Also starting to get to grips with Nvivo software for data analysis. Though I wish there was some method that was a bit more...... original (DD? any ideas?)
5. Good walks in the autumn sunshine. beautiful colours around. Regent's park was beautiful yesterday - even in the drizzle. A small boy got his boomerang caught in a tree - the cheer that went up when they got it down raised a smile
6. Big swedish warehouse with DD for her (yet more) bedroom furniture. That is Sunday's pleasure - i am the flat pack furniture building champ... Not sure why it's here as it wasn;t a pleasure, :rotfl: except for it being another step further to being organised again.. and DD loves it.
Have a great day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hello from sunny village near Bath, where DD and I are being alternating between being slugs on the sofa and going out and about visiting/shopping!
1. Sunshine!
2. Not being at schoolbut
that I have this week to gather my thoughts and have some mummy time with DD
3. Dragged DD to the SS Great Britain, and she loved itSo did I, and I'm glad our tickets are valid for a year as I'd like to have another mooch with KW sometime.
4. Our shed has arrived!!! KW is lugging the bits of wood up from the allotment gate to the land as I type
5. Bought DD the most amazing sparkly trainers in Asda yesterday, she loves them, and I'm very envious! The lovely assistant got the very last pair in her size
6. Bought some YS bread and cheapy dinners last night, needed as I've spent rather a lot this month.
7. Cheap petrol at Costco, lots of diet cokes for me and a fab present for a chum. Naturally I checked that the present was cheaper there than on Amazon
8. My medication has increased and still seems to be suiting me. This week I've started to feel positive again, and just hope that I can maintain it for longer when I'm back at school. I was so looking forward to working with the new Head but just wish her manner was less.....mean....nasty....etc etc. Ah well, I'll keep doing my best.
9. I've decided to "keep" the £50 I took out of my Marmite jar before we came away, rather than reimburse the jar. After all, what are savings for if not for spending them - and that £50 took us quite a long time to spend on this lovely holiday!
10. Bought a 1.something litre bottle of shampoo for £4!! It'll see me out, probably
11. Have read some great books over the holiday, not quite done enough work yet though....0 -

5 More days at the mill till I gets off to the Apple of Big. Please be aware live buck of face video will be uploaded in Times Square on 4th November at 4 O’clock inn the afternoon local time. Viewing available on various outlets. Booking is essential. No worries on here as pictures will be available shortly afterwards with plenty of gloat inn!
4 Meanwhile at the mill, flying pigs have been spotted and the care could less attitude has far reaching benefits! Is good here in a month of Sundaes! Well the gaffer and the educationalists have had their week off, now mine! Except of curse, being a stoker, my holiday is cheaper!
3 After I do not give a toss at the mill later, I shall be fitting my new treader riding goggles at the opticians in readiness on my return to getting the bike out for runs again. I had run out of spare old gogs and now these days I cannot ride my treader without them!
2 Nite BoP will be appearing on the Big Train to Warster, getting on five stops from its end and off at the next stop. Last week the ticket machine was not working! Yet the single fare home is ten pennies less than the return! Curry is essential! Wobbleades will be taken!
Mill on the floss!

Hey love reading all your tranquil and happy moments on here , Here's my 5
.
Had a lovely day at Battle Abbey yesterday on our heritage pass. Took youngest son and enjoyed a free ghost tour, free crafting , he made a felt mask and a paper lantern. The shop were also giving away free samples of the wines and various jams and chutneys which youngest son enjoyed the jams on brochettes while husband and I enjoy free ginger wine , cherry wine and sloe gin ....... yummmm.
Made my very first Christmas cake today .... looks amazing and worth the effort .. now just got to feed it for the next 5 wks
Loving the sunshine today ... actually had 2 washloads out and dry on the line which is great..... 3rd might need to go on airers inside over night though.
Made home made tomato soup and croutons for lunch (some left for dinner) made the croutons in a chilli frylight oil and it is unbelievably spicy)
Going to harvest the last little bit of mixed salad leave that I have growing in hanging baskets in the garden to have along with our dinner.0 -

1 Washed our bedding and put clean bedding on with a lot of animal “assistance”, washed various mats, cushions and clothes.
2 Hoovered and cleaned upstairs.
3 Facemask, moisturiser, teeth and nails - I feel more presentable even if it is only in my mind.
4 Worked on the hoya plant which had literally taken over, an hour and a full bin bags worth of branches later and it barely looks touched, and I didn’t have the heart to continue, so I fed it and watered it to care for its recovery.
5 Trying to be ruthless and throwing out clothes, by throwing I mean they are old but now way too big, barely worn, I would like to give them to a homeless shelter rather than have a CS do a ridiculous mark up these days and their attitude around this town is appalling.
6 Invoiced for another week completed – hurrah.
7 I know it’s only Friday but a pork roast was cooked, the smell of rosemary and thyme is all around the house, no roast pots because of the diet but a lot of veggies, carrots, sprouts, cabbage and a couple of new spuds was had, with some HM apple sauce, looking forward to it.0 -
Friday pleasures,
Mushrooms and fried egg on toast, I woke up hungry!
A beautiful sunny Autumn day, WM chugging away after bedding and towels changed. I took the little dog around the fields and saw a lot of partridges, she was well behaved and let them be.
Emptied 5 bales of wood chip shavings into Lulu's stable in preparation for horses coming in at nights, love the smell
The millions of spiders webs that had been caught on the fencing and glinted in the afternoon sun.

Welcome debbiedodge.
For yesterday
1. Cleaned oven. The pleasure is how good the oven and trays are all looking good now.
2. Enjoyed gardening and was quite warm in the sun. Planted more bulbs and more weeding. The chickens enjoyed foraging for worms etc.
3. Went for a walk. It was so peaceful, listening to the birds and watching them.
4. Collected a bag of chestnuts which are roasted and most have been shelled and in the freezer. Just a few left to finish..
5. Cooked tea of a pork and apple stew. Used up some apples that had seen better days and the pork from the freezer and used up bacon on its use by day.
6. Three loads of washing done and dried on the line.
7. Chat with a neighbour.0 -
1. DD and I took a very scenic route home yesterday, courtesy of Google maps
We enjoyed it though.
2. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Carole King's Tapestry CD, which I bought for myself when in BathDD tolerated it well, as it really wasn't her cup of tea.....
3. Took DD to view our country estate and she was quietly impressedKW met us there, and we all met some of our allotment neighbours, all of whom were thoroughly lovely
I'm going to enjoy pottering around over there.
4. KW and I took DD out for a scrumptious curry at my favourite Nepalese restaurant, yum yum. Sadly, even the mildest sauce on her biryani was too spicy for her, but she really enjoyed the veggie rice and dhal.
5. This morning, I managed to get a friendly person in the optician to repair my glasses, by putting a new arm on. It vaguely matches the other arm, but was the only solution, due to the design of the glasses.
6. Chatted to our favourite library aunty and discovered that she's expecting a baby in JanuarySo happy for her, she's lovely.
7. Most of my Amazon order arrived
8. Sunshine!
9. KW and his daddykins have been putting up the shed, and DD and I have been thinking of what colour to paint it (yup, I'm procrastinating again)
10. Found my missing prescription so will be able to cope with life for a bit longer!!0 -
1) Good runs up to DD1 yesterday and also back home today, motorways running smoothly and OK drivers!
2) Gorgeous ballet last night, Russian Ballet Company performing Romeo and Juliet. Fab costumes and talented dancers, really nice evening.
3) Spent all day today sorting DD1s garden, all trees and bushes pruned, flower beds weeded, veg patch weeded and mostly dug over. Last of several crops harvested, all waste either in the green bin for recycling, in the compost bin or stacked to dry off and season for use on the wood burner later on, result!
4) Significant OH met He Who Knows for the first time and they got on really well, I know he was slightly nervous but he's so lovely I think he'd get on with any one.
5) Home now, sorted out and put away our belongings and he's just lit the stove as it's chilly in the lounge so it will be really nice to 'chill' this evening and catch up with ourselves!0
