What ho midears! RL has been lamentable daft busy (not a patch on mhagsters, mind but she'm unique & we're lucky to have her home) and Storm Brian is trying to make my life inconvenient (ably assisted by the offspring, alas) so I shall rather dump the fun and scramble onwards.

    OS Pleasures recently
A sleep in & lounge about day, both a shocking waste of a good Saturday & sorely needed after a very hustled week! [Did I *learn* from this? what do you think?!]

For a shared bar of chocolate, my offspring can be ungrateful toots. That said, it isn't dark, or sweet, or flavourful, just rich & fattening.... (Ritter, & not the usual small fun square but a big Christmas hopeful gold thing.)

Longmire. Darn but that is an excellent television series & this weekend we binge watched a stack. Good times. Not making or mending or otherwise virtuous but family together time. [And again this weekend - these multiple episode events are good times!]

Finding myself looking up a provider of financial services for a Godfather's Ma (them not having internet access) & plying her with the forum opinion that if anything looks too good to be true, it usually is. She took it very well, and thanked me sweetly! I adore her & wish her daughters were of more use to her.

Took an oops & found opportunity - driving into Manchester on a "wrong" road took me past Axel Void's Sisiphus - stunning wall art covering a gable end & other works by other artists.

Waved to the tailor - yes, forecast high winds make for strange hours. "Travel safe!" absolutely the floor catchphrase & sign off today! Me, I'm gone to get the car off the roads before schools empty. Hallelujah flexi!

Red sun as Sahara dragged by Ophelia side effect!

Friend running limerick Mondays & haiku Tuesdays & they are getting uproariously ridiculous as we get into the swing of it...

Old uni friend has made contact - not heard from him in ages, feel slightly like meeting a feral fox - an unexpected pleasure but not a reliable visitor. He may be about to become a dad for the second time!

Winds blow, stew bubbles, by candlelight because we can & it's a nice opportunity to test assorted lanterns. (We don't need much of an excuse but Ophelia's wind speeds make a valid enough pretext!)

It's Wednesday, and somehow that's reason enough to beam! [Well, it was.]

Plied a snuffling & unhappy colleague with generic antihistamine & he was touched. Not certain if it's helped, but to be cosseted a bit can't hurt.

A remarkable comradeship aboard the first train of the day - regulars greet each other & "come on Mr.Rogers" as the train slows for their stop.

Blearily, I discover some odds & bits of Meatloaf amongst the music on my phone. All sorts of good memories as light brightens & the civilised day appears to be starting. Starting a Friday at 04:00 am does not suit me.

Lovely exercise where the answers were hidden behind a veil of dyslexia - figuring how to get past/round that very ticklish!

New season of QI! The letter O...

Scout jamboree on the internet - my first, their 21st & just loads of fun! We lack the tech to try Jamboree on the Radio but this weekend is their 60th - why rock a boat that floats so well across so many countries?!

Right. All health, strength, swift recovery from jet lag, gladsome reunions with all not seen recently, hugs, love & courage for all who have need thereof & may Storm Brian [I struggle to visualise a storm snail, which says rather too much about my age] pass by you with minimum fuss.

    Pleasures for today (Saturday)

    1) Not a bad sleep until woken very early by the neighbours letting their dog out for a jolly good bark. :-/

    2) Storm Brian didn't break anything.

    3) Sons at their father's but had a good day. Bigger son's motorbike mended again (a loose wire) and smaller son had a good day at the football with his friends.

    4) I got loads done! I was going to do the district council election job but the weather forecast put me off so I'll start tomorrow. I did washing up, changed beds, 2 loads of washing, cleaned the fridge, cleaned all the shoes and boots, did the ironing AND painted all the stairs/landing walls! I'm quite pleased with my painting because the colour chosen seems to vary a lot depending on the light falling on it.

    5) Posh macaroni cheese for tea from the freezer - made several servings last week.

    6) Watched Casualty.

    7) Kit Harington on TV tonight, Mila! A programme about the Gunpowder Plot (assassination attempt on James 1, c 1604/1605?) Most of the people involved came from Worcestershire so Kit will have the right accent!

Glad you've had a good week, Kittikins.
  • Firth,
    (Kit's a cutie with a soft heart)
The Game of Thrones actor revealed on BBC’s The One Show Friday that he bawled as he and his cast mates sat down for a read through of the final episode of the hit HBO show.
“We had a read through last week in fact, so I know everything now,” he said.
While the final episode won’t air until the series comes to an end with the eighth season in 2019, the actor said he couldn’t help but get emotional.
“I cried at the end,” he said. “You have to remember that eight years of it — no one really cares about it more than us.”

    p.s. I  Longmire. He's an old cutie. :D
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Mila hope all goes well with surgery and recovery.

    1. Another warm sunny day here. I feel so much better when it's warm.

    2. Sitting relaxing and reading my book.

    3. Walk and a coffee in a lovely old town. Enjoyed people watching while having the coffee.

    4. Walk round a garden with free entry which was worth the visit

    5. Good food and good wine.

Took an oops & found opportunity .
I love when oopses get changed to opportunity. Like challenges to opportunities.

Collecting data vjsmum now it starts to get really exciting
Pm2BOP 2 draws better than 2 losses. We’re still top
Not heard of longmire. Just finished dr foster. Couldn’t quite work it out since totally missed 1st series.

    1) having woken at 6 (not so surprising when I went to bed at 8:30) spent a glorious couple of hours catching up on doc Martin.
    2) 3rd park run, met a colleague and someone i did my masters with years ago
    3) then dd2 and I went to buy a new red bowl for my new round sink
    4) mum came round having picked up my Philip Pullman. What I really wanted to do was take Thursday off and sit in Waterstones all day reading it, but work a trifle hectic
    5) played ceilidh - great fun. Friend’s 89 year old mum (in a wheelchair) was danced round the floor to the waltz. Her whole face lit up and she looked 18. It was absolutely beautiful.

All good wishes for pending surgery Mila another fan of Kit here, can't think about the final GOT series :(

    Saturday pleasures,

Trying to poo pick prior to arrival of the storm, Lulu makes a fab windbreak.

Not too much damage from Storm Brian (ha DFV hadn't thought of the MR connection, now awaiting Ermentrude) the bird table went for a burton plus a patio rose in pot.

Cheeky afternoon snooze on sofa, one minute reading ACD short story, next I knew book slid off lap and hit spaniel on head.

Capt S went to watch eldest play footie and saw ex work colleague whose husband was playing for opposition. She dropped us like hot brick when redundancy hit but now bemoaning how unhappy she is at toxic workplace, karma, maybe....

Eldest hollow legged one came back for tea and sustenance, twice he has mentioned a certain young lady now rather than the 100% football talk, could there be love in the air..

Early to bed after early start, how long ago were the days of Northern Soul All Nighters, a lifetime.

    Subliminal message to KW... hens......

Message to Frith - I've already asked, as our school ladies needed temporary re-homing, but apparently, hens are verboten :( He's had them before in a previous home, lots of different breeds and would love to do it again, but sadly, until we get our own place, this isn't a possibility.....

We're now talking about renting a place together as we can't afford to buy and we are so in lurve :) !! DD is 4/5 of the way to being comfortable with it, her words yesterday, totally unprompted by me :) The thing is, I ideally want marriage before living with him....having done it all around the other way last time, living with exOH for years before one of the world's shortest marriages, so....!!!

He reckons he could grow all the food for a wedding reception on our allotment :rotfl: Good job we're all veggie eh!?
  • Smallest grandpickle ended up in hospital last night with bronchiolitis and a rash but pleasures 1,2,3,4 and 5 today are all combined in the picture sent by his poor Mumsie of him sitting up in his hospital cot with his cheeky little grin on his face and Mumsie's message ' Still gross but smiling and much happier!' may the mending continue apace and may they be home as quickly as possible (I know they'll be there at least until Tuesday for IV antibiotics course to finish!).

Proper Foods and plenty of rubbing the tum!
4 On the bookies again, had me pot top £30, then put BoPsie's housekeeping on Manure! They lost. Currently managed to get £5 initial stake back by going all in on Arsenal! JUst waiting for the Totteringham to be up again!
Please note that BoP does not advise people gamble and take out endowments!
3 Had the yard sore ted today. Out with the failed plum tree. Gone! Cherry tree pruned and the Birch is looking good! No more later!
PM2DD Heady days on the top! It was a hard division to get back in to so having a season or two to get there makes it all the more exciting! Just noted my mug is in shot as well DD!
