Good afternoon all, yesterday's pleasures....
All ironing done before work
Work was good - hard work because we were busy but that makes time fly and some of my favourite people were working with me (I like them all but there's a couple that I really enjoy working with).
Roast dinner made after work - once a week guarantee of getting vegetables into the HT
G&T with the yuzu and ginger gin liqueur I was given for Christmas
Couple of hours chat and online gaming with best friend
Not exactly a pleasure but managed to write a letter and a condolence card to the HT's teacher who was widowed last week. The teacher has helped us so much that we wanted to pass back a little of that support and let her know that we were thinking of her.
Still thinking of you too DfV.0 -
Hello VJ, fingers crossed that the next 4 months whizz by for you and your son. Happily.
Still really worried about Tiggy's eyes even though she saw specialist eye vet last week. She DOES have an ulcer in one of them so glad I went with my instinct and gave her pain killers when normal vet said no. He is lazy and as far as I can see, useless. Everytime I walk by he is leaning on door jam chatting to very pretty Italian receptionist/nurse. Go and do some studying !
I was so upset when I came out of the appointment with eye vet that I asked the pet/vet taxi man what he knew and of course there was a misdiagnosis that led to a dog being put down. Rumours ? I don't know. What I do know is that Tiggy is getting a new vet. I asked him three times for painkillers for her. In the end I demanded. As you can tell I am almost frothing at the mouth. There is no need for our animals to be in pain.
Anyhow, spent Friday with my sister. She lives in a beautiful part of Surrey so we did charity shops and antiques. Eye wateringly expensive but Oh...the quality. For the want of a few hundred pounds I could have had the dinner set of my dreams and a really lovely limited edition print. Oh well, my dream house still remains full of beautiful things...... there is no limit there.........:)
I rarely get any alone time with my sister as we tend to meet at our parents, the cousins get to play (3 girls, 1 boy) and as they live near the beach we all get to enjoy the outdoors. Having said that the school run, doctor's appointment and a few other mad busy things in my sisters life enabled me to enjoy the views. Ponds, the river, beautiful houses, ducks, swans, horses. Ah, it was really lovely. I have to get out of this urban environment.
Have a wonderful day............. to one and all.....AKA : Bala La Boo & Bala Baloo

Hello. Been a day of busyness again ( looks like that’s how it’s going to be)
Everyone else out to work so just doggy and I.
Washings on and a few things on line . Didn’t dry but smell fresh.
Hoovered. Washed floors. Did dishes that dishwasher didn’t quite clean. Cleaned cooker.
Made phone calls on the mothers behalf. My diary filling up with appointments. ( small sigh)
Swept front porch and deadheaded some plants, swept back and deadheaded some plants. Nice to be out in fresh air.
Niece and the baby arrived so we took ourselves off to the castle for lunch. We all had macaroni which was rather yummy and I don’t need tea. Baby was on good form. I’ve not seen him since Christmas Day as they all had a lurgy and I’ve been busy with the mother.
Watched The Trial of Christine Keeler.
Then hurrah! The mobile library. It’s been a while since I’ve been . So swapped old for new. Picked up one for a friend that was on hold and took that down to hers.
Then another blooming phone call. We can come tomorrow afternoon...my back massage is on hold as I have other stuff tomorrow of the ‘anytime between 9-5’ variety and I may have to give it a miss. This new suggested appointment was 3.30? Nah! Friday will be fine! ( in between going to the dentist which I’ve already had to change! ) big sigh!
Walked to and from the mothers house and it was still just light at 5pm and the birds were still singing .

Surprise visit from both daughters this morning, had no idea and was working in the kitchen when they came in the back gate!
Many cuddles with both the newest grandpickles, many smiles (them and me) and wonderful ooohhh and mmmmmm conversations too.
Lunch out together as a family and being driven there as HWK is still too sore to drive himself.
Lighting the stove this cold and frosty evening and now having a comfortably warm lounge.
Hot water bottles in anticipation of taking at least one of them to bed when I go later this evenings and being warm at 2.30 in the morning rather than cold and awake!0 -
Oh Blackbeard........

balabooberlies i am intolerant to fresh pineapple in the UK but not tinned. when i was in sri lanka i was absolutely fine with fresh pineapple so assume it's something about ripe or processed pineapple?

Dropping back in again. An edit.
Broomstick, the CM is right. Sleep is not something you can do without for long & remain yourself. You are a precious resource, in yourself & for recognising others may have greater need - please, accept their offer?!
ampersand - so sorry spits went horrible, may the next week include much bankings & the cameraderie sustaining! All strength with big week.
MrsLW - big hugs to you to forward on to HWK - awed at his determined progress! A surprise of grandpickles - wonderful!
Mhagster - hoping the medics are staying helpful & supportive.
SuffolkSue - delighted you have practical folk in the family & hoping medics released you with actual help?
VJsmum - some days class is like that. Not good for morale, but worrying doesn’t help (been there, tried, nope - your mileage may vary) “midwives & half a snowman” - just as I’d got my imagination settled!
Frith - Miword the one specialist who actually checks their dignity at the door! Huge hopes for all further useful positives to come. Return of elder son! To become an intermittent pleasure?
Jayzee - being listened to is a very special pleasure & privilege.
House elf - Ofsted are bogeyfolk but they do like a brew & biccie. Governors’ home baking bumped our primary school up a level, we reckon!
Nargleblast - love a smart kitten!
DundeeDoll - it could have been so much worse, just wish it hadn’t happened for decades yet. Burns themed music jam sounds wonderful!
LaineyT - when I read Poirot, he’s the eccentric Frenchman of my childhood imaginings - neither Suchet nor Ustinov quite fit (but I’m a ruthlessly picky mortal over tv versions of books - family stunned I love good omens!)
PaulieHerts - a super strong son is a wonderful thing.
Cranky - what is fish to be called?
BoP - have I told you lately that I have convinced the entire family that good snorkers are worth every penny?
Supersaver - a bit of what you fancy, especially at 99p, has to be good!
OS Pleasures edit
Oh my. Sweet son’s flat mates are still in bits & desperately writing a book of memories to help them. Hadn’t realised aspergers/neuro-diverse just treated them with affection as his mates & where needed told them to stand down plans & let me haul the young idiot off to hospital (some accidents needed X-rays). Apparently they adored me (as I was comfortingly bossy). Strewth. I may have found why we’re both desperate for a guiding book of rules to puzzling social conventions.
The bracing cold, hiking around the outside of a building, before being enclosed in the heating. You don’t appreciate fast moving cold damp air properly until you’ve been shut in warm air for a while.
All hunkered together watching the Mandalorian. Great fun, lovely happy family feel, just we’re one short. Wept & went on. [It’s great fun - if you like Star Wars, this is good stuff.]
When looking for the portable trowel, defecation in the woods for the use of, I unwisely said “this is knob one” (as a sentence start to “and there’s something hanging on knob three”). The blokes just folded with laughter “Call sign!”, “Say that again, I want it for a ringtone” Oh, Dear.... still, I was right & the engineer can now pedal off equipped.
One scout has written a few words on a card. It stands out, being written from the heart & from a clear strong loving courage that has me drizzling every time I re-read it (& usually once is quite enough). How I am to convey my respect & awe & thanks without denigrating everyone else’s words, I do not know, but I must try. [Argh, the challenges you never expected! The bank account is responding to the system. People run very different systems.]
Bonus feature
Ooh-Kay, this bereavement thing got weird. Weirder. Getting groceries with youngest, focussed on the ciabatta & some woman, vaguely familiar, hugs me. Smiles sadly, bravely at me & moves off. Just hey what? I mean, thank you for the hug, but some ID is appreciated.
If you can spare a mental shove on Friday, it’d be appreciated. Family & crem - I need them to be able to say their goodbyes & get out of the county so I can peacefully crumble for a bit.
Meanwhile hugs & strength & love & courage to all others in need as without them, it’s all so much harder.0
