Happy birthday Ampersand.
1. House still looks tidy!
2. A day spent in the garden. I cut hedges back and trees down and some weeding. My body is feeling it but it looks so much better.
3. The weather. It was sunny and in sheltered spots warm.
4. Had a bonfire with all the garden stuff which couldn't be composted.
5. Had a lovely meal cooked by DS2 and we sat round the table and talked. Mainly about sons moving out though.
6. Stretching exercises made my body less achy.0 -

Pleasures yesterday...
Sun shining on my walk with the dog, and her delight finding sticks to play with.
Washing mountain attacked and demolished. Just got to iron the beggar now.
Shopping in Lidl's and Tesco, cupboards now stocked up, and some bargains found.
Singing some of Rock Choir's repertoire along to the downloaded harmony parts, a reminder of some lovely feel-good music. Start back today for the new term.
Call the Midwife last night. Gentle drama.
Phone call from son down in London, he's meeting up with his stepbrother and family at Milton Keynes weekend after next and they're all travelling up here for a belated Christmas weekend. Time to get the fatted calf ready.
Homemade turkey curry with baked potato garnished with coriander, followed by homemade yoghurt with raspberries and blueberries.
Fresh linen on the bed last night. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Belated Birthday wishes Ampersand.
Sunday pleasures,
The wind had been blowing a hoolie around the house all night and hadn’t slept well so after I’d been out to check all roof tiles in place had a cuppa and small dog cuddles.
A quiet, peaceful day at home and the old pair of dungarees that I wear on such days, faded, soft and infinitely comfortable.
Lunch was beef stew with white bean mash, yum.
Late afternoon walk around the fields, we had to wear our wellies and small dog got quite muddy but exercise needed after the above.
I saw my first snowdrops.0 -
Belated happy birthday Ampersand! OK your freezer is full but surely you can find congenial souls to share (alas virtual) cake with? :bdaycake: For the unspeakable players of a noble game, there will be a comeuppance but the thunderbolts should be immediate.
We’ve found another cop show (Jesse Stone), a little like Longmire, & are snuggled together watching. Justice & morality fable wrapped in American fiction - good stuff!
The awful guilt of disturbing another’s sleep through one’s (“comedy loud”) snoring is offset by hugging them warm, snuggling the duvet around them & sloping off for a brew once they’re rightly fathoms under.
Oh that Moon. Just glorious.
The ferry man’s coins have arrived & are beautiful - our lad would be pleased.
Youngest back to wearing not-matching socks again. Saves me sock bingo, brings him a happy grin that Someone Noticed. [He’d matched immaculately when we had to break news to family. A relief to see him relax from that formal correctness.]
Heaping duvets in an attempt to build a propped-up-so-can’t-snore nest. [Seemingly not effective.]
Some sunrises are worth being awake for.
There is an unexpected pleasure in taking rubbish out whilst still wearing the dressing gown over all. I know I’m decent, but it isn’t wholly obvious. That the boots belong to someone with much bigger feet, is.
The gentle mumble and gop and sloosh and clutter and and beat and whine of the washing machines. I’ve not sat & listened to them properly for a while. I vaguely understand the debate as to where they should be located - the noises are more bathroom than kitchen.
Admiring the long toes of middleson. Elegant, somehow.0 -
Good Morning.......
Okay, made a veg soup the other day that wasn't a complete success so yesterday determined not to throw it away, scooped out some veg and mashed it with mustard and butter. Absolutely yummy. If I had freezer space would do this to the rest of it but sadly not.
Took Tiggy for a late night walk and saw that huge moon that everyone has been talking about.
I too have snow drops but they have been out for ages. They are determined little things. Same spot, same amount, every year. They are sweet little flowers.
I don't know what is wrong with me but seem to have constant desire for bread (sourdough only) and biscuits. Have eaten more of this in the last three months than in the last three years. And butter !
Painkillers have worked this morning so hip, leg and feet are just midly letting me know that they are there. Taking Tiggy out soon before storm hits.
Have wonderful day
