  • My five for today (Friday) as it'll be after midnight by the time my post is finished ;)

    1) Went into town in the morning - raining and very blustery. Went to Iceland for top up shop. When I was driving I was never in this shop but as it's near the bus stop it's going to be a regular. Lots of competitive prices and their mature cheddar is brilliant.

    2) Then met friend and went to an outlet centre. I was very good and didn't buy anything 😇 then back to my house for lunch.

    3) I then did some sewing and made a cushion from my friend's grandson's jumper. Really cuddly with a huge bear face on the front.

    4) To mums for dinner. We had delicious chicken from M&S. I never shop at M&S food as find its too expensive but Mum bought this. It cost £5 for the two pieces

    5) I went to another friend's and blethered for nearly five hours. Gawd can we talk :rotfl:

    Goodnight xx

    Good Morning Peeps,

    1. I have survived the working week, the cough and cold.

    2. DS2 is another step along the way with his Navy application. He is happy, so I am too. :(

    3. I have made an effort to make home made food this week.

    4. Students sold all their Valentines Wares and made £60. Very proud. :D

    5. We have watched the Phil Spencer 100 Homes programme . Love the octagon house.

    Have a lovely day :)

    Friday pleasures,

A docs appointment proved to be nothing to worry about, phew,

Celebrated with cuppa and toasted muffin followed by a trip to the BHF and found a smashing summer skirt plus a book, A Country Life by R Strong.

Was pleased to read that the brand of vaccine used by my vets is one of just two that copes with the current strain of equine flu, another phew.

Over to see pony girl, had to worm her and she always pulls such a face at the taste, took several carrots to take the taste away :D

Snuggled down in freshly changed bed and read my book, all about his beautiful house and garden.

    1. No work. I am so happy that I only work four days a week it helps to get through the week.

    2. Walk to Post box to post a card in the damp. Someone who lives about a mile up the road from me stopped and asked whether I wanted a lift home. Lovely of her. I did say no as an trying to walk every day.

    3. Phone call with DS1. He has got rid of some of his stuff which is a relief.

    4. Saw neighbour for a quick chat. She is recovering from pneumonia and is looking better than when I last saw her.

    5. Nice evening in with DH, DS2 and girlfriend. Shared a bottle of wine and some fun was drunk.

    Morning all

House Elf - good luck to DS. I nearly joined the navy at 18, passed all the tests but changed my mind when i had to wait for a position. By the time one came up, I was half way through my A levels.... Years later, I was chatting to my cleaner (those were the days, when I had a cleaner) and, turns out, she was the same age as me, applied at the same time and actually served in the same position that i had applied for!! Small world.

    Pleasures for Thursday

    1. Another gentle yoga,
    2. Nice drive through the countryside to the yoga session. it's a little way away so I don't go often, but sometimes it just fits in.
    3. Still cracking on with work
    4. Went for Lunch with DD - despite living in the same house, I haven't spent much time with her lately
    5. Grand designs which was a repeat of the Tenby Lifeboat house

    And yesterday

    1. Walked into town for an appointment with the beautician - LOL overplaying it, I get my eyebrows done and 'other' bits waxed
    2. Spoke to my friend about volunteering for Oxfam at Glastonbury - we're going to try for a place
    3. Positive messages on a Glastonbury volunteer facebook page - I won't be the oldest and i won't be Billy No Mates
    4. Jacket spud with lashings of butter and pepper for tea - nothing else. Been craving it.
    5. My boy is home for the weekend - ish (may go back tonight.)

    Have a lovely weekend all

My 5 from the past few days

Opened the dining room curtains to be met with a circus tent knocking on the door. Fortunately just a 4 feet tall play tent blown by the high winds over the fence from next doors garden but it did make me laugh!

Watching the birds and black squirrel feeding from the seeds and mealworms I put on the garden wall for them. Two very fat pigeons looked down from the branches and waited until all the others had eaten their fill then came down to hoover up what was left. Very nicely mannered pigeons we have in this neck of the woods!

SW – another 3 1/2lb off this week, the dress I bought for DS's wedding in May was a little snug when I bought it but not any more, it fits beautifully :-). In sales I paid £62 for a gorgeous outfit with all accessories which would have cost over £300 full price and that I could never have afforded, so really pleased with my purchases.

Out yesterday with DD, 2 DGD's and DGGS. It was DD's birthday so we had a lovely shopping spree then lunch which was fun, 8 month old DGGS trying to feed himself which didn't perturb the landlady at all, she just produced a large plastic sheet to go under his high chair. Then out with friends in the evening, same this evening and again tomorrow. Those 3 1/2lb are feeling very insecure! It was also DS's birthday (they're 9 years apart, poor family planning) he's oop norf but will see him in 2 weeks for my youngest DGD's christening.

Booked 2 holidays in July and September, both which include conventions so a favourable rate at the hotels. Four of us sharing a car both times so fuel won't cost a fortune, the sort of holiday I like.

And an extra one. My car key broke yesterday, the metal cut-out shaft coming apart from the fob it folds in to. I phoned the main dealer who wanted £289 for a replacement. I laughed :rotfl:. Phoned a local car key repairer who arrived within 20 minutes, took the key apart, replaced the broken fob and charged me £20. It certainly pays to look for a local tradesman and I'd rather give him my money than a huge corporate company.

Have a good rest of the weekend no matter what the weather :)
  • V Was down the Gym trimming again and I is always beach ready!

4 Had snorker and best back, with mushrooms, grilled toms, toast and poached eggs and all for BrunchFest. Tea has bin drunk as well.

3 Now watching the cricket and the football. Looking good DD!

2 Nite BoP is watching a film, nearly caught back on challenge of the uni. Thinks it has to be a MM!

No need to have one at the weakened, but looks like Friths got what fors then!

Fascinating justs thinking that BoP is ...
  • A lovely quiet day at home today. Here's my five pleasures today;

    1) After my late night last night I didn't get up till 9.

    2) I finished the rag quilt, washed it and tumble dried it. It's very different but quite lovely.

    3) I cleaned out the fridge and found lots of cox's apples and one large cooking apple. I cooked them and made a 6 portion apple crumble and a container of stewed apples for the freezer.

    4) Windy and dry this afternoon so a large load of washing put outside. Nearly dry when I brought it in.

    5) This evening I finished knitting the blue baby jacket and hat. Just the bootees to do.

    Another good day xx
