Wednesday pleasures,
Sat and groomed the little dog, this has to be done with various levels of bribery as she does tend to run off especially when we get to the ears.
Out to lunch with youngest hollow legged one and his lovely gf, I had chicken & leek pie which was delicious.
Drizzly afternoon but time spent in the garden clearing and tidying.
Not having to cook after eating out at lunchtime so bread, cheese and olives for tea.
Capt S watched the footie, despite current form I did advise him to never right off LFC on a night in Europe, was pleased to see vindication of advice.0 -
Good morning on this beautiful day!
Wednesday
1. Collected a wheelbarrow and some compost for a competition my gardening groups are entering.....excited!:j
2. Went to day time class of Aqua fit that I am thinking about joining. (Evening one though). Really popular with glamorous grannies. Feel elderly and dowdy in their presence...... despite being younger :rotfl: Really fun and friendly. Knee ok. £5.50 per session .......... If I went twice a week, it would be more expensive than gym membership! Research is required.
3. Made Mac n cheese for tea. DS2 also requested nachos........He was very happy that all his food was the right colour! (When he was younger he only ate beige food.....chicken nuggets, sweet corn, pasta etc). DH and I had salad with our carbohydrate, just in case you were worrying :rotfl:
4. Nearly finished grouting of the shower, but ran out of grout . Looks much better already. Feel proud of myself.
5. Ready Player one at newly refurbished cinema. Meerkat 2 for 1. Really good film. Good story. Spotted some scenes filmed locally. Squishy reclining seats, but didn’t fall asleep! Top night out
Could not get out of bed this morning........combination of Aqua fit, grouting and home made Baileys when we got home :rotfl:
Have a lovely day0 -
1) I tried using Lush henna (am trying to reduce our carbon footprint) to turn my currently brown/blonde balayage hair to a lovely shade of reddish brown. Emphasis on tried. My hair is now an alarming shade of orange. The pleasure is that what would ten years ago have crushed me, I now find absolutely hilarious!!! I will get some rouge/brown henna and try again at the weekend.
2) A colleague has booked us a corporate yoga clas this lunchtime. Looking forward to stretching and breathing! Also, CrossFit tonight. Hurrah for having a body that is in good health and a mind that can enjoy sweating.
3) A sunny day. Good forecast tomorrow, will have to get the line up. I LOVE hanging clothes outside!
4) Food! Have vegan spag bol with watercress and peashoot salad for lunch, followed by HM fruit salad. Think I'm going to ask DH to make the BBC GoodFood lentil and root veg casserole for supper tonight. Gives DH an excuse to tuck into more chilli naan.
5) Just confirmed landscapers for next month - 7th-14th May. Goodbye horrid cracked concrete and invisible boundary, hello shiny new frence, paving, repaired walls and a gate. People will no longer be able to walk straight into our garden...fancy!0 -
It's a Spits day sans &. Unexpected letter has arrived. Was going to re-arrange,but speaking to Spits patron, better not. Get it done with, so will.
1. Yes, a lovely day out and P&R fees have been abolished by Labour Cambridge City Council. Had thought to buspass in and out, but long appt. spelt out, so car necessary.
2. Just now, coal tit on feeder was under 2' away from & at kitchen window. Much longer little needle-sharp beak than & previously aware of.
3. More sodding rain most of yesterday, but this also meant a no petrol day, in view of no.1 and & cooked lamb shoulder and sweet potato roast for self. All yum, very. We kiwis love our lamb, although this was English.
4. Reading Iris Murdoch, 'The Nice and the Good', somehow missed until now.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nice_and_the_Good. A number of us were reflecting on her when in town for funeral gathering on Saturday, about which this was known to some of us:

5. & still locked out of mse via mob., which previously has been only comms route open. No longer. But opening desktop today has been a 3 tries process, with a big blue screen roller of 'corrupt file attachments removal'. Took pic. That took &'s shower time and another half-hour and a 3rd attempt, but here & is. Have replaced all the Thanks, disappeared again - that's standard.

#RAF100 Don!!!8217;t forgets to listen to the wireless thing on Friday Night, BoP is the one singing!
V Now as yous nose that BoP can pack a lunch, well yesterday BoPise packed todays lunch and I think she miscounted the cakes of Jaffa and only put two inn BoP!!!8217;s Lunch Box. Now as there were a dozen left, that meant three each for two days. Unfortunately, BoPsie I think has dipped out on an extra cake of Jaffa! Tum is being rubbed!
4 Now that is what happens when you have proper foods and have a beach ready body! Last night inn the gym, BoP was too hot and cooled off inn the shower! That was after doing his stuff. Anderby Creek trip is being sorted. More details will follow shortly! New trunks are the order of the day on the river site!
3 While BoP is on about decent foods and all that, this very morning BoP did poached egg on hot buttered toast! Now how come BoP can cut his claws, into the bath!, shave, shower and scrub. Put his undies on, feed Raffles, and make the breakfast and in all that time BoPsie can only shower? Too think there is no queue either as we has three bathrooms inn Palais le BoP! Still, the claw clipping went in her bath!
2 Nite BoP is going to be watching the gooooooooners, that is Arsenal to the unexplained.
Being cool of Facebook is like being on the stool at the bar. No one really talks to you as you sip on your jar!
Now for an occasional feature from BoP. Five tips to keep you tickled!
i Say hello to the next person you pass
ii Always keep a sharp knife in your kitchen, and sharpen little but often
iii Remember rule 24. If all is against you, don!!!8217;t get your towel, sit and listen as yous got two ears. But before you show your hand, wait a day.
iv Buddy Buddy, check your dress, and check your OH as well. You can easily do this and get that tickle
5 Always has your five a day, proper food like BoP! That is how he keeps beach ready!0 -
For today
Stunning Crimson sunrise. Only seen as the dog came up to my room to tell me he needed out....even though he had just been. He was right! Sunrise was worth it.
Cold & frosty start. Had a mini rant on my blog about the weather ...the universe must have read it as it turned into a beautiful day.
Opticians first thing. Bought more RTC fence paint. Their last one so hope it's enough. Just need a few more dry days to be able to use it.
Tidied up my front porch . Had been keeping /drying off bulbs from indoor plants . Now sorted. Planted some pansies & a lavender in a little trug on my outside of downstairs loo windowsill. Pumpkin seeds & sweet pea seeds have sprouted on kitchen windowsill. Planning on planting up my lavender plugs which are now big enough to go outside ( I think!)
Was picked up by friends to go for coffee & catch up. Went to restaurant at nearby castle & sat enjoying the sun through the glass...warmest I've felt in 6 months! Good to see them.
Home . Brought washing in & ironed it. Not quite managed the putting away part .
It's Thursday ...the niecely people came for tea. GN was supposed to stay but hasn't.
Had a little bit of peace & quiet.0 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday).
1) A sleep interrupted, as so often, by next door. Dog barking then child squealing so loudly it woke me up with a start though he was in his house THREE ROOMS FROM ME... He then drummed and kicked on the wall for several minutes.
He squeals all the time, by the way, it doesn't mean he is in pain. He does it when running round, playing football, climbing over the fence into my garden to steal stuff he's taken a fancy to. He must be 8 or 9 now, yet no one has told him to stop it yet.
Anyway, I was pondering on this and being glad their house is on the market. Checked it on rightmove (as I have done a million times since it was first advertised a week ago) and IT HAS SOLD! Ahahahahahahahh!!!
2) Had a tidy up downstairs.
3) Hens well.
4) Rolls from the butcher for lunch and he has saw our possible new neighbours having another look round yesterday :-D
5) Spent the afternoon with smaller son at our very local English Heritage site.
6) Picked bigger son up from town and dropped him off at my brother's ready for games night.
7) Pizza and salad for tea.
8) Made lots of pots from newspaper ready for seed planting tomorrow - courgette, pumpkin and sweetcorn.
9) Cleaned all of sons' room including the lampshade.0 -
Woke up to calamities in the kitchen, I think the water pressure fell overnight and created end of the world red errors on the washing machine and dishwasher, and then the laptop decided its getting on a bit too, my answer to all of it was to turn it all off until the evening, and it seems to have worked, thou I think various bits are reaching the end of their working lives at the same time
I went out with one of the ferrets for a walk, I had an ulterior motive, I think I saw a kitten that seemed to be in trouble but could not find it at all, I am hoping it is safely ensconced with its owner.
We saw beautiful primroses, other spring flowers, and foxes!
More freezer food, this time fish and veg, while also taking out chicken and dessert for tomorrow.
Tidied the rest of the greenhouse, I am happy to say it is done and 2 big bags of rubbish for the tip pile.
Loaded up the car full of charity shop stuff, and wow it's 2am already...0 -
Thursday pleasures
1. Bright and sunny day if a little chilly.
2. Window cleaner turned up - he was very happy that I am an honest person & paid him for his last visit as well as today’s - I usually send a cheque but I got caught up in my decluttering & forgot
3. DH has created enough space in the garage for us to store (unplugged) the 2nd fridge/freezer once defrosted & cleaned.
4. DH also created enough space in the spare room to stack the six boxes of mainly personal stuff that I still have to Kondo but my new mantra is ‘OUT OF SIGHT, IN MIND’:rotfl:
5. The ongoing pleasure of decluttering - starting to feel the weight lifting off my shoulders
6. The space left by moving the bookcase is ideal for my two boxes of wool & bits.
7. Almost finished the first ball of wool knitting a scarf for my DB & will use a second ball to create the right length.
8. No cooking - had sandwiches :j
9. DH had a nice phone chat with my DB
10. Reading your pleasures & finding out that a poster on another thread has finally returned home & back into the O/S foldBe Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

Thursday pleasures,
A bright, sparkling start to the day, cold but sunny and really lifts the spirits.
Over to the yard and worked Lu, am thinking about starting her on Parelli natural horsemanship as a way of further engaging her brain, book ordered when got home.
Took her brushes home to wash so in and out of garden, in the kitchen looking out window and a sparrow hawk landed on our garden gate! Not quick enough to grab phone before he flew off, garden was completely silent when I went back out and not a little bird to be seen!
My friend turned up mid afternoon and we went back over the yard to give girlie her first bath of year, she was very good and tolerated all the scrubbing and cleaning, positively relished her mane being done. She looked very white and sparkly when we had finished but doubt it will last:rotfl:
