    Happy Easter

DD A fabulous collection of pleasures!

    Yesterday

    1. Spoke to DD on FaceTime. Seems happy. (She does get anxious and depressed). Perhaps snow is the answer !

    2. DH and I went on a little outing to Resorts World. Found a dress in the NEXT sale for our holidays. (DD2 said I looked ‘fabulous’ when I tried it on at home :rotfl:). Wanted to stay for lunch, but Disney on Ice finished and there were queues of parents with small Disney characters at all the restaurants, so we came home and had baked potatoes. :rotfl:

    3. All the pans are now shiny and gleaming.

    4. DH decided we should have takeaway as we were thwarted in our plans for lunch. Yummy Chinese. DH1 has saved some for lunch today.

    5. Watched ‘Fantastic Beasts’. Great film.

    6. EBay sales. Decluttering, with an added bonus of a Pay Pal slush fund!

    Have a lovely day......it’s stopped raining! :)

Good morning. Happy Easter. Bloomin' freezing!

For yesterday : GN arrived! With all that she brings with her...!

Walked to T via my mothers. We had rain, much wind and just blooming freezing ness!

Bit of a lazy afternoon until I got a text to say my new specs had arrived. Drove down to other side of town. But not convinced that prescription is how it should be. Not as clear as I'd hoped! To take them back in on Wednesday.

At DD request we did a drive thru...at McD . So it turns out GN doesn't have a normal burger it's one with all the bits taken out...so she didn't eat hers! She didn't tell me she didn't eat all the bits. Anyway DD paid not I.

I bought the ice cream for pudding from a local ice cream parlour. As part of my 50 things to do for 50 , one of them is to have 50 different flavours. I've done 3 already!

Remembered to get eggs out of garage ...there were 6 , there's now just 3. How did that happen?

Casualty. And it's on again tonight.

Right, better get a wriggle on. Much to be done in next 2 hours before church! Huge RTC gammon joint is in slow cooker.

    Have a lovely day

    Saturday pleasures,

Boiled dippy egg with marmite soldiers.

Delivery of piece of tack and the smell of new leather when I opened the parcel.

We are currently looking for somewhere to stay for a weeks holiday, current location options are Northumberland or Dorset, both gorgeous counties and hard to chose between.

Watched S1ep2 of Vera, watched long time ago and we had forgotten who’d done it, better than the usual saturday night options.

Beat Capt S into bed and starfished in the clean sheets for a while :rotfl:
  • First train cancelled. We used the app and got on one. This time we have a seat

BoPsie thinks we could be home for the Arsenal. More later!

LT. Proper food with marmite as well!

Hope you have all had a lovely Easter Sunday.
    Small collection.

    1. Potentially very good news from Dr C. (DS for new readers).

    2. Had to wait in for a delivery, so a dear friend brought me in some much-needed bits and pieces of shopping. Among them were six hot cross buns. So I got my Good Friday hot cross buns as per usual.

    3. Among the bits and pieces was an Easter gift from my friend, a lovely bouquet of flowers. Completely unexpected, she did not leave empty-handed. So I felt a little less guilty. She has very little disposable income, being a WASPI, who cannot find employment, with just a year to retirement.

    4. Work is going well. I remembered to put in my pay claim on time, I have not forgotten yet, but with Japan being eight hours ahead of us, it is always a risk. I have been experimenting with using Siri, the voice recognition on My iPhone. Those of you who have me as a friend on Facebook will know that this has had some interesting results recently. Being able to give people a smile through these has been an extra pleasure.
One of my favourite clients has turned in his fourth perfect piece of writing.
He is 69, and he told me that he was quite surprised that he had done so well as a brain scan some years ago has shown that he had had an unrecognised stroke and there were areas of brain damage.

I shed a few tears at that, as it reminded me of my Dad who taught himself to write with his left hand, after a stroke disabled him on his right hand side.
One of the chief reasons Dad wanted to do this was to write letters to me when I lived in Germany.

    5. Did anybody else watch the BBC2 series that finished on Good Friday, on seven celebrities walking the Camino, the pilgrimage trail to Santiago?
It is on iPlayer, at three hours there will be quite a lot to catch up with, but I do recommend it.
The Camino keeps putting in appearances in my life in recent years. I am just reading a novel based on a couple who meet on the Camino. It is not bad, but not as good as I had hoped. I have been offered (and read) other books about it. My aforementioned client has written about pilgrimage trails in Japan (Pilgrimage trails were extremely popular there), and mentioned the Camino.

On the subject of books, I also have Henrietta Knights latest book, but this time, it
is on the topic of National Hunt (jumps) racehorse trainers. As well as being a fantastic N.H. trainer herself in the past, Henrietta was an Education graduate from Oxford, unlike many ghosted sporting books, her book is beautifully written and really readable.

    6. Your pleasures, thank you.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    Pleasures for today (Sunday).

    1) Picked bigger son up from a party at 9am then he slept on and off for hours.

    2) Apart from waking up long enough for the annual Easter egg hunt I set up round the house! A funny moment when I told them not to look. Went back to the living room and smaller son was stretched out rigidly on the sofa (face down) and bigger son had his face buried in a cushion on the table!

    3) Hens OK and they had left over fish pie and peas from last night.

    4) Did odd jobs round the house - washing, cleaned bathroom and stairs, tidied up.

    5) My school friend came over. Made toad in the hole, carrots and peas then trifle.

    6) Had a good chat with bigger son who I think is getting more settled about things.

    7) In bed now with 1hwb and will listen to the radio for a while.

Good morning . It's Monday already! I was hopeful of at least a dry day as I have so much washing but I see snow is forecast! What? I shall need to go out soon and do supermarket shop. I usually do a car shop once a week and anything else is on foot. Haggis has one serve of dog food left so shall need to get that this morning.

Sunday was very busy and rather nice.

    Made pancakes for breakfast.

    Decorated eggs for rolling.

Easter egg hunt. It's a serious competition in our house! GN has never done one and she had a bit of help from DD1 with the wonders of technology. She was trying to sneak a peek when I was setting up! No!

Went to church. My first visit in a while. I had got very distressed last time which was more about me that day than church. It was a joyous service. GN has only been to church for end of year school service. She enjoyed the Easter egg hunt there too! I'm glad I've went and hope it's easier now. The woman I sat next to asked ( though I'm sure she's asked me before) was I new? I have to remember I've lived away for 7 years and 2 other churches have merged with ours! As I indignantly think no, I'm not new!

Nipped in to M&S and bought a pudding.

Quick change into warmer jackets and then down to our castle and woods. To roll our eggs. With loads of others. Having been solo egg rollers for past 7 years ( its not a done thing in Oz) it was nice to be amongst the throng! GN has never done this before either but threw herself wholeheartedly into egg rolling and running after them!

There was a spring fair with rural activities on, so she had a go at peening, willow weaving and fence making.

Home to have dinner and DN was joining us . She had been night shift and only usually gets a few hours sleep so had had more than usual as we had GN. GN is tall but I had said I think you've stretched since you got here ( day before) and I think your mummy will say you've grown...and she did! Then whilst out a later dog walk with Haggis she started saying her feet were sore...feet had stretched too!

Enjoyed our Easter dinner of gammon, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, sprouts, baby corn, mange tout, carrots and cabbage. An M&S cream cake for pud.

Suitably stuffed but took GN and Haggis a walk and delivered a card for a friend's birthday. Enjoyed all the nature happening around us from flowers, to birds, to trees budding and a quick slide at a play park!

Then aaaaaah the sound of silence after they left. DN always sends me a text to say thank you and I always say lovely to have but lovely to see her go ...until the next time! GN is a delight but quite a full on delight!

Watched a bit of telly with son ...he asked do you think DD2 would notice if he ate her cake ...she might but he did it anyway!

    So a good day!

I need to sort out spare room today as it's been a dumping ground for ironing! Need to get past the pile to get to the iron/board. Next Australian visitor arrives next week!

    Have a good day :)
