Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Changed my bed and am up to date with the washing.
3) Exciting afternoon! Smaller son and I went to meet our new nephew/cousin. We took 3 shepherds pies and some socks that rattle. He was very good. You definitely couldn't pass my sons round (or breathe heavily) without waking them up.
4) They are in Birmingham now as my niece has been shortlisted for the Benjamin Zephaniah poetry award.
5) Shepherds pie for tea.
6) Looking forward to I'm A Celebrity.
ETA - My niece just phoned to say she won her entry Nationwide!!4 -
1) root canal treatment part 1 so worked at home in case I felt yuk after. The good news is I didn't
(and got most of my marking done and a dissertation reviewed yippee)
2) cooked egg curry for the first time - it was surprisingly delicious
3) got my laundry dry which is always a pleasant surprise this time of year
4) a good night of football combined with folk music night (i am strictly audience!)
5) and of course a nice evening with DrM and MrG - DrM is a great fan of egg curry and has asked me for the recipe

Yesterday’s post disappeared into the ether so let’s hope this one sticks,
For yesterday,
Early visit to my pony who was enjoying some wintery sunshine in her field, she begrudgingly shared her treats with her next door neighbour.
Drive over to Fenland market town, sunglasses on and listening to my witchy podcast.
Met up with my eldest niece for lunch, tasty chicken poke bowl but then we undid all the good by sharing a banana & toffee muffin! We had a lovely catch up chat.
Home and a tad worried as the house lights were off, that’s because Capt S had fallen asleep on the sofa, C dog alongside.
Keeping half an eye on the phone as United were playing in the cup, we came back from 2-0 to draw but then lost on penalties, it’s the least important of the cups so not so worried.5 -
Morning all.
Haven't been here for a while (pre DfV's epic post) so will catch up when I get a mo. Hope everyone is ok.
Recent pleasures:
1) Our Christmas get together and party weekend was a complete success, best ever I reckon, but I'm not the spring chicken I was and dancing till 1.30 in the morning left me barely able to move the next day - ouch!
2) They all departed on Monday after brunch at the lovely garden centre and a mooch round the Christmas shop. Wde were treated to brunch as a thank you for hosting the weekend, very kind.
3) Spent Tuesday sorting and freezing leftovers and making little packages of treats to enjoy over time. Reckon we can pretty much eat for a week on what I now have tucked away. Got the house back to rights and all my usual clutter of books and reading and 'things to do' back out again so it now looks like home again but mybe a bit cleaner round rthe edges than normal and all the Christmas decs in place so an easy December after a busy November cleaning and preparing.
4) A big sleep last night - was tucked up in bed by 9 and not up this morning till about half 9 - and I am feeling caught up on sleep and feeling a bit more like me again.
5) We now have December to enjoy with no pressures. Went to little fella's Christmas Fayre at school yesterday afternoon. They had decorated baubles which we had to buy, definitely worth £2 and now in pride of place on my tree to replace a chocolate bauble which he promptly ate, and he won a raffle prize too. After going to everything at primary school and junior school for three grandchildren this is our last year as little chap moves up to senior school next September. We've been going to Christmas Fayres for 16 years and will miss them. Still the carol concert, Christmas play and sports day to enjoy. We have been so lucky so have been so involved.
Well, better make a move and at least get dressed before lunchtime (!). I'll catch up with all your pleasures later on but nice to be back!
Hope you have a good day.

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Straight out to a carer's association breakfast in a pub. I had honestly forgotten they existed! I used to go free workshops and occasionally sing in the carer's choir, pre 2020. Anyway, it was nice to go back and I've given them my new address (been here 2 years!)
3) This prompted more admin so I updated my address with the alumni offices then downloaded the app for my new bank (6th change of bank this year - the introductory free £ paid for our holiday!) Also changed my online shopping to the new bank card and put in an order.
4) Cleaned the garage and very dirty porch floor.
5) Bigger son came round for a cup of coffee and for his Advent calendar. His half a front tooth has been rebuilt again and the false one glued back in. It looks very good.
6) Went to my new GPs and have a phone appointment next week. Also went to my new pharmacy.
7) Our favourite football player has come back on loan!!!
8) Made venison burgers for smaller son's tea. I had prawn and avocado sandwiches.
9) Looking forward to I'm a Celebrity.5 -
Hello.Up early…beautiful almost full moon had done a full lap of the house overnight.
Prepped for work tomorrow.
Went to a local business who make memorial jewellery ( with ashes) I was supposed to have ordered a few weeks ago and hadn’t…so they were very accommodating and then showed me the whole process which was interesting. Then has to go and pick up The Pup.
Then had a very kind thank you gift delivered.Log burner on.
Made chicken pie for tea with RTC chicken and the leftover scraps of puff pastry from the freezer as DD2 had invited herself to tea!Friend popped in.5 -
Another rather tuff day at work so
1) very grateful for colleague spending 30 minutes with me debriefing after a rather difficult meeting
2) seeing sheer delight on receptionist's face when I invited her to open door 3 of our office advent calendar
3) RSNO - so lucky to have their outreach project in Dundee - tonight was 2 coaches to Glasgow's Concert Hall (home of the RSNO) for a rehearsal with the Glasgow choral academy (another RSNO outreach project) - the time went so quickly! We have a concert at the Caird on 18th and another on the 21st.
4) sat next to gbf on coach 2 - he had a good stash of kitkats
5) and a lift home - he was also able to offer a mennies friend also in the choir a lift home - and now I'm in bed with QI W1.20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5005 -
For yesterday,
Another bright, sunny day, so welcome this time of year.
Drove over to Uni city and met up with DB before walking down to Addenbrookes to visit DN. His ECG’s are clear but still has some pain so will need a MRI to learn more. Hopefully he can come home in the meantime as it’s not exactly restful on the ward. Good to see him.
Met DSIL who was walking down as I was walking back, quick catch up and hugs with many it could have been so much worse, on the flight, in Oz etc.
Had grabbed a sarnie & apple so munched that on the way to the yard. Fetched girlie in and got her sorted, helped my neighbour whose horse has conjunctivitis and was struggling to get drops in.
Home and tired so rummaged through freezer for a pie to bake, just added some veg and all good. Fell asleep on the sofa then woke up to go to bed!

Able to see the full moon and it’s looking amazing.
Topped and tailed the house, - again.
Took some chicken out of the freezer to defrost, with the intention of making a rather tasty sounding, cranberry, stuffing and brie chicken tomorrow, tonight though is pasta bake.
It’s been hard sticking to a strict budget but also very eye opening that Christmas is very much an easy tenner here, and tenner there, I want to get more for DH but can’t within budget - but the new in stray may need a vet visit next week so saved bits will go to her.. Next up we are trying to think of a festive sweet name but so far coming up short, or it’s been used…
The new stray has come on leaps and bounds about 46 ticks removed, a bad bite around her eye is healing. She is intrigued by us and is starting to learn to play rather than bite. We also flea bathed her to remove any eggs and help in general, and she was okay in the bath wandering up and down. We spoke to the vets today and said we might bring her in next week as she may need extra help after the ticks.
