It's Friday already. Been a day of much walking.
Walked to slimming club and had lost 2.5lbs so 8lb off in 2 weeks...these jeans are now ridiculously baggy at the bum & legs!
Walked back and then headed out again and walked in other direction to salon to get eyebrows waxed.
Then popped into old work and said hello. Then walked home. Uphill on the way back.
Then a dog walk .its been a glorious day in a bitingly cold way. Bright and very breezy. Washing almost dried on line.
Friend and her daughter just popped in as we were about honest so stretched it out.
DD1 has a house! Hurrah! With a lemon tree hurrah!they get keys next week. I'm so pleased for them.
Yesterday was another day of walking here & there. The niecely people come for tea. Nice dog walk with Haggis' old lady friend.0 -
Evening all - been remiss with posting.
Still thinking about Skint
Pleasures since Tuesday morning
1. Good supervision - my mega questionnaire is nearly there
2. Ironically the last day I spend in the top office in london, people started talking to me - I have to go to a different office from next week as I've moved faculties. the new office is friendlier but it doesn't have the views.
3. Hotel in Pimlico was nice for the money - luxury it wasn't, but I didn't pay luxury (London) prices. CLean comfy, with an excellent bathroom. I gave them a good review and Pimlico was a pleasant surprise
4. Theatre experiences were fab - friend and I went to Dreamgirls on Tuesday and then DD and I went to Harry Potter on WEdnesday. Dreamgirls was not my kind of music but it was my kind of singing and I lurrrve HP and it didn't disappoint. Part II in APril so no spoilers please :rotfl:
5 Nice beer with brother - we met to discuss dad's will and probate and stuff. It's rather complicated and we need to steer a path through it to try not to cause too much family argument (in trying to do what he thought was right, dad has really bu88ered it up...and i am not sure but I think the relationship between one brother and my sister may be forever lost) but it was good to spend time with my brother.
6. DS has come home for a few days
7. The study and lounge are starting to go back together - swedish furniture arrives tomorrow. I am hopeful that by the end of SUnday we might be starting to look decent again
8. A friend had trouble with her sewing machine, and I was able to lend her mine
9. Just about to have leftover takeaway curries for tea - yum. Washed down with a grape form of wobbleade
10. The cold I have had since Sunday hasn't been too harsh and looks to be going :T.
Have a good weekend all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Friday pleasures
1. Emptied another box & managed to condense two shoeboxes of stuff into one:j + had cleared enough space in a cupboard to hide three shoeboxes of stuff - mostly photos which can be sorted when the urgent decluttering & decorating have been done!
2. Chap arrived to measure upstairs rooms & stairs for carpets, chatting away to DH then measured downstairs in case we decide to fork out for a downstairs carpet - the pleasure came when the shop called & had overestimated the cost of the two carpets ordered by at least £150:j:j:j
3. Although I paid the deposit on the carpet, DH is going to pay the rest tomorrow:j:j
4. Next door neighbour delivered a parcel for us :T - no idea how we missed it as we never left the house:mad: however the absolute pleasure was that the parcel was NOT something DH had ordered - DH’s niece & her DH had sent us a thank you gift for sorting out the furniture & doing the washing up after the 75th celebrations on Monday - a box filled with old fashioned kiddie sweets like Refreshers, Sherbet Fountains, Bubble Gum, Drumstick Lollies, Blackjacks etc.:drool:
5. Reading all your OS pleasures
Only one more night (after tonight) of staying up until 7 a.m. to watch the Winter Olympics:o
Then I will have no excuse not to crack on with the d cluttering:(:D

1. Weekend starts for me on a Friday. Managed to achieve quite a lot today which feels goog.
2. Went to Opticians and need varifocals. I know I needed them so will collect in 2 weeks. Luckily the frames I liked were one off the cheapest and I get two for one.
3. Had a tyre changed at the same time. I've had a slow puncture which wasn't quite so slow any more. At least I combined the two so one journey and no car parking paid for.
4. DS2 girlfriends birthday present brought. I probably would normally give a card only as they haven't been going out very long but she will be 21. Also paid some change into the bank.
5. Ballast and cement delivered and I took to back garden. Chickens were trying to help or hinder!
6. Tidied up some of the garden and picked daffodils that were out not many but now in a vase and looking good.
7. Took bottles to bottle bank which I have been meaning to do for ages.
8. Watched six nations in a tidy house with a glass of wine. Also watched QI and loved the pig which looked like a sheep.0 -
Friday pleasures,
The t’internet debacle continues but have been assured it’s now been escalated to a senior engineer who is due to visit this afternoon, hmm is all I will say..
Out for lunch with DSIL, we took advantage of the 2 courses plus drink offer at Wildw*od and the food was surprisingly good, find that it tends to vary from restaurant to restaurant, we paid extra to upgrade to sweet pot fries.
Good wander around Ely afterwards, picked up two books in CS, a PD James and a Raymond Hill, was remarkably restrained as saw a lot I would like. Popped into the chocolate shop just to sniff really but did buy Capt S some choc covered raisins as a treat.
Got back to car and some inconsiderate so and so had parked theirs so close to mine I couldnt get to the drivers door  and had to climb over from the passengers side, not easy in a mini I can tell you. Guess pleasure is that am still flexible enough to do so but how rude!
Having eaten at lunchtime no cooking but old fashioned pleasure of a tomato sandwich and Capt S was kind enough to share his treat.0 -
It's been another stunning day here though cold. Beautiful sunset as I type all pinks and oranges .
Did grocery shop first thing. A few RTC's. Home and a roll and slice for brunch.
Met a friend when I was putting bags back in boot of car. She was on a dog walk, we stood and chatted and then I grabbed my coat and we went walking and talking!
Then GN arrived and all peace was gone! But we've had a lovely afternoon. Big doggy walk. Dropped him off. Walked to T as I'd forgotten dig biscuits. Called in to my mums with some tulips and I did her ironing ( HUGE pile!) and Gn played with cat. Then walked home via a play park. We planted the seeds from our Halloween pumpkin we had kept. They're on the kitchen windowsill. Then we did a practise run for some cakes for next weekend ( DD2 18th) ...they all seem to have been inhaled.
DD2 was out with DN so GN and I managed an excellent Boo! when they came in. I lay on floor beside my bed and she was in my wardrobe ...there were screams ! A boo well done I say!
Rugby ...so far! Won't say too much!
It's been a good day!
Thus time last year Haggis came to hospital to visit OH. They were both as delighted as each other. OH had a lovely visit from a beautiful therapet called Boomer and he played guitar beautifully with a guitar from music therapist. Good memories but such hard ones.0 -
Good Evening,
Yesterday
1. Cooked Kofta and Biriyani from my Kirsty Allsop cook book. Fiddly, but very nice middle eastern flavours. Had all the ingredients. Will definitely make this again.
2. Supervised DD packing and taxied her to meet friends to say farewell for 2 months.
3. Prosecco at home to toast bonne voyage.
4. Bargains in Mr A & collected my boots which have been heeled.
5. EBay sales :j
Today
1. Got up at 3:20am to take DD to airport. (Not a pleasure). Safely delivered to plane!
2. Home to full English breakfast with eggs from our hen.
3. Back out to watch DS2 on parade.
4. Free tea and cake in JL.
5. Afternoon coffee with friend.
Going to friends for takeaway tonight. Excited, as no cooking :j

Pleasures for yesterday and today!
Yesterday (Friday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Brother drove us to the station (seatbelt still hurts my shoulder and I haven't driven for 10 days so far - a record!)
3) Got to Manchester without any problems on 3 trains.
4) Hotel clean and smart and they let us into our room early, rather than just storing our bags for us. A quiet view into some offices and over the canal.
5) Went to Old Trafford on the bus. A friendly lady said she would tell us when to get off.
6) Man Utd tour! Very organised with lunch in their caf!, a look round the museum then sitting in various seats (including the dugouts) and in the changing rooms. Smaller son very happy!
7) Went into town afterwards including Afflecks (not much different from the first time I went, aged 20). Smaller son has a thing for fountains so liked the one in Piccadilly Gardens.
8) Sons hired the bikes that are all over the place (unlocked and payments logged via your mobile phone). Albert Square was very pretty in the evening with some of the Chinese New Year decorations and lights up.
9) Had tea out.
10) Sat in the hotel beds watching Gogglebox and the Last Leg and had lots of drinks as we had remembered to get some milk for our hot chocolates and tea.
Today
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Cooked breakfast in the hotel.
3) Went to the Museum of Science and Industry which was very good. They had a special steam thing going on so we watched a traction engine arrive through the gates.
4) Found a couple of geocaches and looked round Castlegate.
5) Bigger son hired a bike again so occasionally followed us or veered off.
6) Went to the Alan Turing memorial.
7) Trains home uneventful.
8) My sister picked us up.
9) In bed with 2 hwb and bigger son has gone out to a party!0 -
Frith, I had to look up the Museum of Science and Industry and now it's on the want to do list.
For the Fri and today.
1 On a bit of a whim I’ve purchased a pair red suede knee high boots, they are quality ones which I do try stick to with a metal mickey ankle, at 70 percent off, which then takes them to “normal” prices. I’m bored of black and trying to be more colourful, so rather extremely I decided bright red is the best alternative. Remembered to hunt for a voucher code and managed to find a working 15 percent off.
2 Our tiny office and landing is literally crammed full of stuff while I take everything out of the front room, making way for DF’s furniture, the house is chaotic putting it politely, but progress is being made each day - I think however there is stuff everywhere I look now.
3 For lunch, we had a grill up, bacon, snorkers, egg, beans, and toms, it was lovely, and fakeaway using up freezer chicken and pizza tonight.
4 Both DH and I phoned up and cancelled contracts today, we had taken out in our name for DF, which saves us just under 40 a month.
5 I’ve painted the window sill in our bedroom, but it will need another coat. If it dry’s enough I will get it on tomorrow – I despise painting a pleasure it’s over, and I’ve painted under the built in wardrobe which is fine with one coat, next we will be able to get carpet down well the carpet that has to be cleared to and will be the last thing to clear in the front room, we bought it as a reduction a few years ago. I’m feeling a bit fed up of living in a house that has constant DIY in progress in literally every room now, but it’s all progress.
For today.
1 Another coat of paint on the windowsill and it’s complete, and a corner cupboard removed in pieces.:)
2 A tip run, and a lunatic of a Lidl shop it was ridiculously busy but picked up some basics.
3 I popped out this evening, to get some special rolls, low sugar, can only be got from Mr T locally, and erm hmm failed very miserably at just that. I came out with a lot of RTCs, various chicken meat reductions, various veg reductions, various special breads and plans to turn part of it into treacle tart breadcrumbs, and a vast crate of oil half price that the car runs on, oh and a bunch of flowers reduced to from £20 to £2. Had a good blether with the checkout lady whom we’ve known by sight for years now.:p
4 Having got all of the above really shouldn’t have had the Chinese but we did, and we enjoyed it, but it feels very extravagant.:o
5 Spent a “while” with DH rebuilding Swedish furniture in it’s now last home, having made room for other bits now.0
