  • Mhagster,

We haven't tried it yet as we need the supplies, but here goes:

Remove all nails or screws from floorboards. Then for each hole, widen very slightly but only drill down to the depth of the floorboard. Then a VERY QUICK squirt of Window Sealant Foam. Leave for at least 2 hours. Then use screws to keep floorboards in place.
As I understand the foam spreads out & provides a thin cushion between the joists & floorboards + using screws rather than nails stops the floorboards moving up & down round the nail.

Anyway, DH bought the Window Sealing Foam today but as we are away for a couple of days, DH will try this when we get back.

I will report on the success or lack thereof! I really hope it is successful as apparently if all else fails the only solution is new joists & floorboards:eek: So if it fails we will just have to put up with the noise:(

So my 5 OS Pleasures for today:

    1. Finding lots of wrapping paper & packaging to donate to cs - a little more space for me!

    2. :rotfl: My DH didn’t kill anyone in Mr A - he absolutely loathes shopping there but there was something specific I needed so I persuaded him to go BUT not in stock:mad: but not as  as he was:rotfl:

    3. Finished the lo lasagne & peperonata accompanied by a garlic baguette

    4. Nice phone chat with my DSis - she was having Snorkers, mash & baked beans for her dinner so I think I will have to add that to next week’s menu plan.

    5. Focaccia in the oven - my donation for 75th birthday party tomorrow together with the coconut cookies baked yesterday.

    6. Reading your pleasures

    Good Morning Peeps,

Must be getting better, as spent more time doing stuff and less time in the sofa nest yesterday.

& .......No meat buying and no alcohol for Lent....... It would be a good idea for me, but difficult to involve the rest of the family. Starting small with my sorting a drawer, cupboard, shelf etc a day. Catching up after a slow start, and relieved I can have a day off on Sundays!

    Yesterday

    1. More EBay items listed.

    2. Roast dinner for tea. Everyone cleared their plates. (Rtc Xmas turkey joint £10 to £2.50 :j).

    3. Won a pair of snow trousers on EBay for DD.

    4. Made Gloop and banana loaf. (Banana loaf was soggy, so returned to the oven, but still soggy! Will only be me eating it then!).

    5. Call the Midwife, fire, quilt and cream donuts!

    Have a lovely day :)
  • 1) Lovely walk and lunch yesterday over at the arboretum, the winter garden was spectacularly lovely, so many different coloured dogwoods, forests of snowdrops and hellibores , whole tapestry carpets of tiny cyclamen under the trees and the most fragrant daphne bush we've ever smelled, going to get one for the garden.

    2) Endeavour on the TV, I've just started to appreciate the 'period' it's set in and the accuracy of the sets on screen. I think it's as authentic to watch as the 'Folye's War' programmes were and the sets and costumes on those were superb.

    3) Making low cal spinach and ricotta cannelloni for supper tonight, just found a lower calorie version in a cook book and I love the combination of flavours. Not had anything like this for ages so looking forward to a real treat!

    4) Maisie doggie is coming to us tomorrow, her Grandad fell a few weeks ago and broke a hip and is tomorrow being transferred from the hospital to a nursing home on the edge of the village so we'll keep Maisie with us for most of the day so mum can take Grandma and get him settled properly.

    4) Two houses to view later this week in the chosen area, have real hopes that one of them will grab our imagination and be 'The right one' as it's the same style as we had where we lived before the move to Hampshire.

    5) DD1 and James have booked a visit home in early April and DD2 and family will be coming some time in March. Going to do lots of cooking ahead and get it in the freezer so I can spend the time they're here 'with them' and not in the kitchen feeding them.

    Sunday pleasures,

Despite the earlyish hour it was light when I came downstairs.

Our blooming t’internet is up and down like a floosies you know what’s, pleasure is it stops indiscriminate surfing and enables more reading, Archers omnibus was possible via DAB.

Family meal and get together, lovely to see Uncles etc without attending a sad occasion, must be done again.

No cooking due to above, cheese and oatcakes for supper whilst watching Endeavour (another fan here MrsLW)

We are sure that there is a little cat around the area, paw prints on car bonnets etc and last night we heard a sound from outside the lounge window that sounded like something jumping onto compost bin. We searched around the garden but saw nothing, guess it could have been a fox...

Morning all - worried about Skint, hope she's ok

Pleasures for Friday and the weekend.

    1. Trains all worked on time so I could get to the lunch of the 'escape committee' from former work. Had a delicious veggie brunch.
    2. Finally managed to cook the cheese and lentil loaf that I have been threatening for a week or more. Everytime I have gone to make it, we've lacked an ingredient. Including, crucially, lentils :rotfl:. I still lacked an egg but did it anyway - it didn't seem to make any difference.
    3. Up early on Saturday and drove to friends' in North Wales. 12.5 miles of coast path walked - we finally made it to the start, in Chester :p
    4. night out in chester - wobbleade was consumed and a nice meal - OH and I had veggie tagine, we are really enjoying exploring meat free food. At the moment we are pretty much half and half
    5. The taxi driver back looked like he was nodding off at the wheel  so a pleasure was making it back in one piece
    6. Comfy sleep at friends' house and a nice brekkie before setting off on a further 5 miles of coast path to close a gap. We've now done from Chester to Prestatyn; Pwlleheli to Llanrhystyd; and about 6 miles in Pembrokeshire. We think about 130 in all. 750 to go :rotfl:
    7. Back to a delicious lunch of chicken stir fry with a poached egg
    8. Then OH and i left and went to Liverpool to have another (late) lunch / early dinner with DS. We parked outside my old office in Birkenhead which was interesting - and caught the train.
    9. Meal at Jamie's. We are doing well for DS visits.. We shared a meat platter starter (i did say we were only half and half ;)) and I had a prawn pasta starter portion
    10. good trip back, if boring and I went up to bed pretty much when we got in at 9.

we have been furniture shifting today ready for new carpet following 'floodgate'. Fitter is here now - we're nearly there. swedish furniture arrives on Saturday.

    have a good day all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Oh deer, the husband has been …

5 Nows yous know thatBoP and BoPsie has bin doing up our palace in recent weaks. We FryDay as yous were aware BoP herded off to Cribbs and JL for curtains. Carp, the puinters were queueing around the block. BoPsie had texted about Mademoiselle perfume, seeing as anniversary BoP BoPsie day is next weak, spent his hard earned cash on some, and lippy etc. Nicely again bagged up, wrapped to yous lot, and set off home. BoPsie has already ripped the bags open and sprayed herself with the perfume! Just to let you know, there is no more for the anniversary either! So there!

4 Even so, she does the works inn her new items again! Now see that is what happens when you looks after the pennies and things. I have too because the BoP pot is down by a couple of pennies! Please still think of BoPsie housekeeping in these times!

3 Full lunch box today, including extra special chocolate from Lindt! Cheese and Bourneville was also wolfed down. Proper foods!

2 Nite BoP will be trimming his beach ready body in time for easter, that is coming up. As he is in the smoke on easter, the beach can weight!

No a good year for luvvies on charities?
  • I was feeling a bit low this morning, but have cheered up a bit.:)

    1. I went for a walk (in the drizzle!) to feed the birds.:D

    2. I am reading an interesting book on health and it has quite a few good ideas.

    3. I'm going to start a gratitude list. You get a notebook and leave it by your bed and write down three things you are grateful for just before you go to sleep each night. I am getting some notebooks from Ocado tomorrow.

    4. I had a hot bath when I got in with salt and essential oils.

    5. Having a cosy night in tonight catching up with some of the shows we recorded.

  • Hello. I've been awake since about 4am so I feel like I'm much further on with my day than I actually am.

Lovely chat with DD1 on her way into work. She had taken our gift of new toys and games to the Palliative Care Ward. It was difficult for her to go there on her own and she cried when the wad manager asked how she was ' okay' is our general response but we are not really!

DD1 was starting work early this week so was out and about earlier than she's ever been!

Went a walk with doggy boy. Saw a heron and was thrilled and then saw a Robin on a tree and was also thrilled.

Son pulled old carpet up and we took it to the tip. Now my car needs a Hoover!

Lunch of left over keema curry and salad.

HUGE walk with dog boy and boy boy. Very muddy. He lied...he said it wasn't ! It was manky! He has long legs and feet like boats and I just don't! So he would stride across the mud and I just had to wade through!

Was starving! So instead of snacking as is my wont. I made a frittata with bacon ( thick cuts off end piece I had from fruit and veg box) leeks and onion. With a big salad. Filled a hole .

The other two are busy in the kitchen making their own tea. They didn't want frittata. So are having French toast and then pancakes!

Got mail from DD1. My magazine subscriptions and other odds and sods that had arrived whilst away.
( mail has been redirected to her rather than $900 to send here! )

Love these lighter nights. Saw loads of snowdrops down the woods today and forsythia in someone's garden this morning. Was quite mild here though I was wrapped up for the cold!

From emporium Trumpy, having just dropped clean srufc teatowels and beermats off -

    1. Sad as & is that newdsquizz run is over for the now, am sitting here, free cappuccino-ing, avoiding loathed JAM. & now has 6 Mondays of no haha@1830h, plus sat lunch 1230s ditto.
Et oui, no JAM is both present- and o-sp.

    2. Lenten Brandy marmalade done by midday. Stirred with a special wooden spoon.

9 jars, of which half-doz. will accompany &>Tattersalls demain.
Can it be that & has managed to upload sth for 1st time ever?

    3. Yday's queuing emporium customer, whose husband told her on phone it would be wet all day today - he is right. Rain hasn't stopped, still going, meaning certain & things couldn't happen, meaning long, leisurely, thorough auction viewing did. 4 diverse peeps(not auction knowns to &) unseen for yonks, came up during afternoon and very different catch-ups were had.

    4. Day began with early dentist, 1st time at new surgery. & felt, still feeling, skite delight at exceptional praise from lovely dentist Marta. Have somehow (it didn't take much) managed to incorporate resultant Goody two shoes golden glow into chat with 3 auction directors today.
It's ok, cringeworthy exclusion zone on green for all osps readers.

    5. So many feeding birds. So much singing. Another 2 rtc 19p emporium loaves lofted onto garden room roof and seed feeders replenished.

  • Enjoying reading your pleasures Glad.

A pleasure for yesterday, we have cleared so much out for a tip run the car is full of stuff for Monday, so with things that could be burned, we used the chimera and had a bonfire, while also digging out marshmallows and pouring a glass of baileys each.

    For the weekend
1 The traditional cooking bacon grilled bacon Sunday brekkie.
2 Had a lovely time while the sun was out with the animals helping with every step, cleaned and tidied the pond, cleared out the hanging planters, and planted a few pots. Re stocked the bird feeders.
3 Took everything out of the freezer to learn what we have and re packed it all away having food planned for the year it would seem.
4 Using up sweetcorn, kidney beans and ham to make a pasta bake and using the heat of the oven to cook the HM foraged fruit crumble through, it’s foraged things I did last year that got lost in the freezer, topped with oats, I also defrosted a pair of scones for our sweet tooth’s.
5 Tidied the kitchen corner unit, trying to make space for some bits from the front room and from DF’s which need to clear to over here now.
6 Feeling a bit sad but must get on with DF’s inventory, for solicitors and IHT reasons, but I’m finding I am having to do a room and then leave it for a bit before coming back to it.We

    For today
1 A tip run, and errands run.
2 We travelled back to DF’s to start properly completing the inventory and clearing, it was a bit “easier” having been away from it a while, and spoke with DF’s friend.
3 Home with another tip load for tomorrow loaded in the car.
4 One of my stock lasagnes, feeling quite proud of my cooking and planning.
