Hello.
Brrr, a cold and grey day here, threatened rain but held off but the wind is jolly cold.
Today's pleasures:
1) Bit of panic-buying for the wedding this week. Don't wear make-up much these days but needed some new for the 'big day' and a shorter silver chain than the one I wear all the time. Hubby needed some new shorts in case the weather picks up for the garden party day. All sorted now, thankfully.
2) Making plans with brothers to meet up for lunch on Friday before poodling over to the hotel ready for the pre-wedding dinner. All taking much organising so I'm sure my poor sister will be tattered with it all. Apparently the bride-to-be has taken her off for a spa day today but can't help thinking that might have been better after the event as she'll probably spend all day going through her mental 'to do' list. Taken a lot of planning and sorting for us and we are just guests.
3) Summerhouse is all painted now and looking just dandy. Got a lovely pinky-peach climbing rose to finish it off.
4) The hill walking has worked its magic. I've managed to lose 6lb over the last two weeks, another pound this week would made half a stone - every little helps and hopefully my dresses will hang just a little bit better.
5) Took little fella to another EH site today, certainly getting value for money from our membership. I know I've said it before but he is a total joy, his bigger brothers have morphed into typical teenagers but he is still so sweet and so funny, his little hand in mine brings more joy than I can say.
Spoke too soon, it's now pouring down - that saves us having to water tonight and we have a lovely rainbow. Tea is nearly ready so jarmers on I think and then it's a toss up between my latest library book and catching up with Ted Lasso final series, or maybe a bit of both. Enjoy your Sunday evening.8 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) A lie in!
2) Went to see bigger son at home. Did a bit of weeding of his patio area.
3) We went to M and S for a cup of tea.
4) Went to Sainsburys.
5) Back home and made a pizza for tea then made a potato salad and a leafy, tomatoey salad.
6) Then I made some shortbread!
7) Scouted places in the village to put a replacement geocache. Ours (in the garden) will have to be removed if we ever manage to move house.
8) Went on the Millennium Green with my brother and his dog.7 -
Pleasures for today
1. A better day than yesterday when I felt overwhelmed with everything.
2. Roast Chicken dinner with mini roasties and leftover veg roasted with garlic.
3. 2 lots of washing dried outside
4. Doggy walks and cuddles.
5. Deliveries of a tablet Organiser & gel ice pads received early today.6 -
Good morning. Just had nearly enough rain to wet the flags and now it's sunny again!
S Sue - are you on the list for a hip replacement? It sounds as if it's making your life so difficult. My friend had hers done earlier this year and says the difference is amazing
Love fs - 'I've smiled a lot '. What a great thing to say. Love it!
Topsy T - it's so hard when someone has been in hospital. You feel as if you're playing catch up for weeks. But eventually it comes together.
Yesterday was good. We thought we were going to have a quiet day but it became busy, in a good way.
DD and fiance popped in mid morning to check up on DH. They also brought vegan cakes! A slice of cheesecake and a slice of brownie. Saved those for tea.
Then DGD rang . Could I help her with English homework. An Inspector Calls. Know it well! So DS brought her round, stopped for a coffee and to check up on DH, then we did the homework. I learnt a new word - dysphemism. The opposite of euphemism. Why had I never heard that before? The other grandma picked her up and then it was teatime.
I found some frozen puff pastry in the freezer that had been there since Christmas. Decided to try it inn the air fryer and it was fine! ( had to flip it over halfway through). Did one square as a lid for a sort of deconstructed meat pie. Used the other bit to make cinnamon pinwheels. They were good too.
So a busy day but a good one. Today will be quieter.
Happy Monday everyone

For yesterday,
A much cooler day so jeans and jumper for early morning dog walk.
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge, oh Lee!
Rest of morning then spent pottering in garden, cut back the nepeta for a second flowering, likewise one of my salvias. Think I’ve left it too late as most of the lavender is now in full bloom but cut a few stalks for drying and refreshing the scent bags in linen cupboard.
Lunch then rest of afternoon was spent watching the cricket, so near and yet so far but well played Mr Stokes.
Watered the veggies and containers as no rain here, then inside for supper and to watch Van de Valk.7 -
Artnoon all
Pleasures for yesterday
1. feeling much more like myself than i have this past week. Those night shifts took a toll.
2. a walk by the sea
3. some gardening
4. A trip to the little independent cinema to watch a documentary about Son Doong cave in Vietnam
5. OH cooked steak and chips for tea - nom. I had it with the remaining red wine after i'd chucked some (plus glass 🙄) onto the floor.
Have a great evening all.I wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
Hello! I’ve a whole weekend to catch up on! But hurrah work has been worked! For Saturday. Skinny club first thing. Lost 3lb , I’m 1/2 lb shy of a stone off. Won the ‘slimmer of the week’ basket so I have 6 tins of tomatoes , a tin of chickpeas, a tin of pinto beans, a pack of lasagna pasta, a savoury rice, a cucumber, a lettuce, a bottle of juice ( gave to niece) and some other bits and pieces! It was a day of much weather! Usually the incredibly heavy rain variety! Holy moly! And very windy!Pottered about around the house. Too wet for the garden.
Sunday was spent at work. Yay…said no me ever! Could have seen it far enough but was fine! A tad crazy at times. Tips in the jam jar.
Home and a quick shower then had to get a tableful of food ready! The niecelys came for tea and DD2 and The Chap and The Pup ( who just wanted to jump at my old grumpy dogs face who did not want to be jumped on…can’t say I blame him) lovely to see everyone but was all a bit hectic so we both wagged our tails goodbye( well I shoogled my bum!) and peace and quiet!Great niece had helped me dry the dishes.Again a day of torrential downpours! But a huge big rainbow across the street!Chat to friend.Monday was also spent at work. Woke early and saw the most beautiful sunrise. More rain! And so windy. So much in the garden has been blown over and I pick it up and it blows back again.Home mid morning to see dog boy.Work busy, tips okay and in the jam jar.
Have ( with fingers crossed) hung out a washing at 5pm…will definitely bring it in tonight 😆
Had a leftover from work baked potato with some tuna and salad.A feeling of contentment just being home at home! Knowing that work is done.DD2 and The Chap popped up briefly with a toot! New car day!
