Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A lie in.
2) Tidied up, hoovered and steamed floors downstairs.
3) Beans and cheese on toast for lunch,
4) Went to the football. 3rd defeat in a row. Wore my new socks.
5) Watched Casualty.13 -
Well spotted admiral Christmas present from me to DD2 - I've always preferred meccano to lego and this proved a very popular present
1) super Saturday - lazy morning pottering around the house, reading in the bath, bit of gardening, doing the bins, finishing some minutes - how I love Saturdays
2) walked the boys down to the library with DD2, got a couple of books on Shackleton
3) Dundee women's festival event online - 3 PhD students, Historicising Plague: A Contextualisation of the Early Rise and Spread of Plague Pandemics in Prehistoric Eurasia; Climate change in the medieval northern world and its impact on respiratory health; Vaccine hesitancy: not a twenty-first century phenomenon - very interesting, I was chairing the panel discussion
4) Ariadne auf Naxos live from the met with gbf - we took sarnies for the interval - very good
5) then Mr T on the way back and cups of tea and biccies - I outlined my roadmap for QAS - he is very experienced in quality systems, look forward to a longer discussion with himMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Lazy start, warm croissants and coffee.
Busy morning, washed my car, made some mincemeat flapjacks with an open jar found at the back of the fridge and, while the oven was on, popped in some sausage rolls as well for lunch.
Spent the afternoon at the yard, bit of a mooch around then I gave girlie’s mane a trim and tidy up, she fell asleep.
Got in car and heard the football result, oh dear! My darling Dad will be chuckling in his grave being an Owls supporter.
Home just in time to join beloved on dog walk around the fields, birds so busy in the hedges.13 -
Not posted for a while, so recent pleasures:
Friend who I went for lunch with on Monday has COVID, so far I’m testing negative 🤞
Builder finally came and fixed light in expensive bathroom cabinet but said it probably won’t last as it’s wired through the hinge!
Nice walk through local market and I bought a few things and got a few jobs done.
Ex OH came on Friday morning and we shifted loads of tree branches to the front so tree man could shred them. He did but it cost quite a bit💰 although he has given me a reasonable price for other work “will be in about 5 weeks”. Ex OH is coming back to redo my front fence next week. Jobs my son does for a living but will never get round to doing for me ☹️
While they were shredding I tidied all my over wintered pots and planted up a spring hanging basket with mini daffs and colourful primulas, made me 😊
Roast gammon with roasties, cauliflower cheese and veg for dinner, followed by homemade peach upside down cake and ice cream 😋
Have a super Sunday everyone 😊13 -

Tips were mediocre however it’s more than I had this morning.
Quick doggy walk whilst still dark. It really surprised me how many cars were about the back of 5am!!A very happy welcome home. Oh doggy the feeling is mutual 😊15 -
A day away from tomorrow admiral and 4 days from the weekend - I am off Friday - Monday hooray
paulie re your son and fence, don't they say the cobbler's children are never well shod?
1) luton game with Dr M - we had coffee and at half time a lovely toastie - luton played well but QPR played better
2) then a brisk walk home cos we both had papers to get finished
3) walked the dogs while doing a litter pick - 163 items (!) now in the grey bin which is out for tomorrow. paper almost finished then back for
3) Leicester game with Dr M - I got there first, secured a table and the right channel, Again I was supporting the losing team. Mr G arrived later and went straight after the match, Dr M and I stayed a bit longer. nice walk home

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) A lie in.
2) Hens OK and I tidied up the bowls left by the hen pen. I've got a bad habit of taking leftovers and treats down then leaving the crockery there until quite a collection has built up. Then I have to take it all home, wash it and fill it with boiling water!
3) Took a parcel to 2 doors down that we have had here for days.
4) Took some fruit round to my sister as the Oddbox delivery gives us about 10 oranges and apples each week which is too much for two of us.
5) Had some leftover quiche and salad for lunch. Tea was tasty - a lamb shoulder from the freezer plus roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips.
6) Went to Sainsburys for a cup of tea and to get a few bits.
7) Went to the pub attached to the football ground to drop off stuff for Ukraine but they had had so much stuff donated that they had had to close!
8) Spoke to my school friend on the phone.
9) Watched Servant of the People yesterday (or the day before?) and might watch another episode just now. You have to have your wits about you to follow the subtitles as it's not like French or German where you can catch a few words. Funny though and good to see Zelensky in happier times.11 -
Good morning. It's really lovely here. Bright spring sunshine. Good for the soul.
Frith - what a thoughtful mother's day gift. A pity they didn't turn out to be lucky socks at the match!
A steady few days here so nothing much to report - which in itself is good news!
Nice strolls every day interspersed with coffee and cake.
Stew and dumplings for tea. Suet was nearly out of date so I made extra dumplings and froze them uncooked. Don't know if that will work but it's worth a try.
In not so good news, DD tested positive yesterday. Was a bit fluey at first but now settled down to heavy cold level. She's working from home until testing negative. I've ordered some more tests Just in case.
Started knitting little blue/yellow hearts. Not sure quite what I'll do with them but it seemed a good idea at the time!
Happy 🌞day everyone
