Afternoon all
Recuperate well, PK.
Happycas, thanks for mentioning that title. I can't find a library audiobook of it but it looks like the kind of thing I'd enjoy. I have a couple of Audible credits left in reserve (am keeping my Audible subscription in limbo at the moment) so let me know if it's a good one. I have reserved 'At the Edge of the Orchard' on Overdrive though.
&, I love the shape and colour of the chalice.
Five recent pleasures:
1. Week's washing done and on line.
2. Found my pedometer and have put a new battery in it - no excuses now!
3. Tiniest bunch of spring flowers from the garden on my 'happy things' windowsill (a new creation).
4. And added a couple of photos of my children when they were small: one a picture of them with the harvest from the garden that we were going to take to our first ever village show, and the other is of them laughing their heads off with each other about goodness knows what but it was obviously massively funny. I love that picture.
5. At long last, replaced my bedside lamp's bulb with an LED one. Another little energy saving job ticked off the list.
Have a good rest of Wednesday,

1 Thank you, I have a bug that just won’t go despite IV and pill antibiotics, I don’t make a very good part better patient and over did it trying to clear out the green house, I achieved half of what I wanted but also listened to myself realising I’d over done it. Tomorrow I shall “potter” and make a cake.
2 Took Kat the ferret for a 6-month check-up this morning, all of us pleasantly surprised he’s still here as he was so ill, I was contemplating the PTS option 6 months ago, he’s on serious drugs but happily plodding on 6 months later.
3 Used up all the leftovers from the fridge for tonight’s tea.
4 I re stocked the birdfeeders as I love seeing the garden alive and watching the bulbs starting to spring to life.
5 It feels luxurious to be able to turn from the tragic news and be distracted by Fred Dinah’s back street mechanics.

Evening all - sorry you've been poorly PK
Good haul mhags
Pleasures for yesterday
1. busy busy - restored two bedside tables. Very pleased with them, one is for our new spare room and one for DD's spare room
2. bleached the grout in the bathroom then cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen
3. stacked the logs and did various other chores.
4. late tea of salmon and veg
5. Caught up with peaky blinders.
ANd today
1. early train to London - was busy so no breakfast. We went to a cafe near euston for cheese omelettes
2. Then a train out to Windsor and we walked the Thames Path back to Staines. was lovely and warm in the sunshine
3. back in London and we were starving so ended up in the Lamb and Flag in Covent Garden for beer and fish pie (am stuffed now).
4. put together the new (old) spare bed, it's come back from DD's as she now has her new one (keep up at the back 🤣🤔)
5. DS survived his first early shift (5.30 - 2.30!). He's already in bed (at 7.30!)
Have a good evening all.I wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son went to college!
3) Had a tidy up and put the washing on once he had gone.
4) Bigger son then appeared and we had a cup of tea and a game of Scrabble.
5) Phoned my brother so he could see bigger son and he came up and we had a game of Settlers of Catan!
6) Bigger son then showed my brother his new lock picking abilities (learned off YouTube) and managed to half lock the front door. This took a considerable time to unlock and my brother had to climb out of the window to work on it from outside (we have only one outside door...)
7) A sad day for the hens as we are now down to two. The one who died today had 21 months life after leaving intensive farming. The other two are looking ok.
8) Popped to Sainsburys.
9) Did lots of cooking - tea then a pumpkin tart and had a bit of pastry left so I made smaller son a spring onion and cheese tiny pie.
10) My brother just popped round to tell smaller son about his unfortunate injury climbing through the window and, whilst talking about it, nearly knocked himself out on a lampshade!

Good morning. Rather dramatic sunrise as it’s a rather dramatic cloudy / breezy sky. Just been Re-reading the start of this thread, for some reason it had clicked on first page rather than here. Anyway I was newly widowed, working early mornings, walking my dog, kids in and out at various times, dealing with so much paperwork, making decisions to move back, selling stuff to come back, chatting to friends on phone ( all be it at weird times with time difference)Wednesday pleasures. Was full of good intentions…
However niece texted and said can we visit? so her and boy came for a couple of hours which was nice but he has so much more energy than I do! And all thoughts of hoovering and cleaning bathrooms were forgotten 😆
Had a back massage first thing. Much needed. Then had to drive way over other side of town and pick up something for someone else. Trying hard to remember it’s nice to be nice!Supermarket on way home. Had to replenish for the first time since I think September time dog food! And toilet rolls were on the low side too. The rest was just veggies, pasta and tinned tomatoes. I often wonder if supermarket staff inwardly raise an eyebrow at what goes through the tills! We had RTC Thai curry for tea which was so tasty and I could have eaten DD2 bowl too!12 -
The door shenanigans made me smile Frith ☺️For yesterday,
The flower beds are the back of the cottage are now full of daffodils, makes a cheery walk to the washing line.
After 7 years I have upgraded my phone and it arrived, no more cracked screen!
The clouds blew away and it was a sunny afternoon.
Fun in the sun with my gorgeous horse, groundwork day so a bit of serious work over poles then we played games, she was very excited at the sight of her Mum trotting over the poles without her, cue much mane tossing and jumping on the spot!
Tasty tea, chicken and roasted veg.13 -

1) still no internet so a lovely walk into the deanery
2) at lunch time walked round the perimeter of the hospital (outside) including all the way round the labyrinth outside the maggie centre - used the time also to phone my dad which was nice
3) at 5:30 the uni internet went down (the curse of the internet is following me!) so saw as divine intervention to catch a bus home
4) and a power nap after a very good day of making major shifts in work
5) then mennies to watch the footie with MrG and DrM - pint of water alongside my pint of cider - was a school night after allMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
