Good morning. Think this is the sixth glorious spring day in a row. Loving it!
PK - hope you soon feel better. Antibiotics are miracles but they can make you feel bad at first. Be kind to yourself
Frith - never a dull moment at your house! Breaking and entering now ( or exiting😂 )
Took advantage of the beautiful weather and went for a walk yesterday. DH still gets tired but enjoyed the fresh air, and the coffee and cake at the end.
D D's partner now testing positive. Not too poorly though fortunately. I seem to have heard of more people I know testing positive in the last two weeks than I did in the previous two years.
Finally got round to adding my new engagement and eternity rings to the insurance policy. I can start wearing them now - if we ever go anywhere 'dressed up' !
Right - onward and upward!
Happy 🌞day everyone13 -
For yesterday,
Out and about first thing, emporium followed by farm shop, lovely spring day.
There are a pair of kestrels nesting in the old walnut tree at the top of the field and it was fascinating to watch them taking turns to hover & hunt.
Finally managed to order some heating oil, my usual supplier wasn’t answering phones / replying to emails so tried another local firm. The price certainly wasn’t a pleasure at over double what we paid last summer 😱 but we were running low and didn’t want to risk messing up boiler, thank goodness we are heading into the warmer months.
Into Uni City for a haircut, good to get it done.
Tea was a red pepper and fete frittata as had eggs that needed using up.12 -

New Gogs!
Pittas? Sourdough bread gone wrong!
Haircut!Doldrums?

Morning all
Frith, your son's lock-picking antics made me smile.
Five recent pleasures:
1. Two days of gradually starting to increase my step count again. I've set the goal low and will build on it.
2. Joining in with a very enjoyable zoom lecture/discussion yesterday tea-time - haven't done one of those in a while.
3. Lit the fire. I'm rationing the wood pile, only enough for three more fires over the next couple of weeks until the new delivery arrives. Yesterday was one of the days I'd earmarked to light the stove. Lovely.
4. It wasn't really a pleasure, more a rather odd feeling, but I wanted to record it. I forgot to take a mask with me when shopping locally but I decided to manage without it since there were very few customers. I realised that this was the first time I'd been into a shop in two years without wearing a mask. So strange. It felt all wrong. (I don't intend deliberately to stop mask-wearing yet though.) It was a reminder though of everything we've been through over two years. Astonishing really.
5. Blue skies and sunshine yesterday.
Have a good Friday.

like my reaction to the shared cup coming back in communion broomstick
1) first meeting not till 2pm - had a much needed lie-in, bliss and started at 10
2) last meeting finished 6:30 (they get their money's worth!) then bangers and mash for tea (proper food admiral)
3) PhD student's bed in shared flat has become available so he moved out - he wanted to make a financial contribution so i have given him the link for toilet twinning - he has already twinned a toilet
4) walked dd2 down to guides then onto mennies in good time to secure seat, Leicester channel - texted Dr M, he replied on his way. Ordered tea (school night, busy day Friday), settled down to reading my book till KO (Dr M late as usual, he had coffee)
5) lovely evening, good match (2-0), Dr M meeting up with friend back from Oz Friday, said they'd be in Mennies at 10, seems to want me to come along so guess what I'll be doing after book club...

So sorry to hear about the chook Frith, so glad she had some time with you.
For yesterday
1 De cluttering and tidying is going so well; DH and I are contemplating hiring a skip.
2 We didn’t do a lot; I admit I slept to the afternoon – yikes. I did the basics, animal cleaning out, food, water, and their meds but aside from what must be done little else.
3 Grilled chicken thighs that thawed overnight and I marinated in various bits, served with cheesy broccoli and cawli, as I’m trying to cut back on pasta/potato, which I slipped into having daily.
4 I ordered some wilding seeds online, but I am conscious I will need to not weed as there will be a lot of randomness growing.
5 Growing some cress and salad leaves on the kitchen windowsill, it’s not going to save a lot, but I enjoy it.
For today
Feeling a lot better, also haven’t really done much at all.
1 I’ve noticed our shopping has shifted to marked down and wonky, which I am fine with but it’s only back to the usual price. This time we got wonky carrots and grapes, and marked down chicken thighs, pork chops and mince for the fuzzies from aldee.
2 We don’t have “sweet stuff” in, but I have a very sweet tooth, so I cooked up something different for me, a sort of carrot, nutmeg and cinnamon cake.
3 After my cussing at the shredder, DH managed to save it and my sanity, taking it apart cleaning it up getting it working and moving a power switch, he’s saved us from spending out at some point.
4 We had 400 litter pads arrive, we unboxed them all and the ferrets are now happily box ferrets in their own castle as far as they are concerned.
5 Straight from freezer for dinner, breaded haddock, oven chips and baked beans.

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) No college on Fridays so a lie in.
2) Hens OK.
3) Had a bit of a tidy up during the morning.
4) Popped out in the afternoon and got various jobs done e.g taking stuff to the food bank.
5) Had homemade meals from the freezer for tea, which saved cooking.
6) Watched Gogglebox and the Last Leg.
7) Smaller son had ordered me a mothers day present and wanted to give it to me the second it was delivered! So I now have 3 pairs of thermal socks to wear at the football (not all at the same time).13 -
what a long day
1) have now convened my first periodic review - bit scary (they happen every 6 years for a programme and are very serious, this one was joint with the accreditation board) - think it went ok but goodness exhausting!
2) then a power nap - hooray for the power nap - before cooking a spicy sausage pasta dish with lo sausages - yummy - while listening to add to playlist- my absolute fave radio 4 programme currently - fascinating insight https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00154qh
3) lovely flowers from the phd student who stayed when between flats - the card said 'to one of the most caring people i know' which made me a bit damp-eyed.
4) bookclub - online - i hated the book, managed to finish it, 500 pages, turns out others really struggled but the furthest any of them got was page 46 🤣 (The famished road) - good to catch up, and we have a couple of good suggestions for next meetings
5) trotted down in the rain to mennies, was late, missed Dr M by minutes (change of plan), stayed for a couple of drinks and a good chat with someone i've not seen for a while who was with a group who all knew mutual friends - nice way to end the week. message from dr m he'll see me Sunday. and now in bed relistening to add to playlist.

Lovely flowers DD and have bookmarked the R4 programme, thank you.
For yesterday,
Friday morning tidy up and made a loaf for the weekend.
Long chat with bf, she was after a book which I luckily had so packed up and popped out to the PO.
Out and about on pony, she is shedding like mad so as we went along I kept running my hand across her coat and we were leaving a trail of grey hair as we went, clumps for birds to pick up and line nests with maybe. Got back just as the rain came over so well timed.
Snap on tea PK, breaded haddock, chunky chips and peas.
The welcome return of Monty and GW, says spring to me more than anything.
