Morning! I still have the headache I had when I took myself to bed early last night! Snow is forecast this morning so I’m just going to take doggy out a very quick walk just now and then see what the weather does.Thursday! Came and went, thank you all for kind words about me almost losing all my words. It was just so awful at the time but thankfully they are still there.DD2 started her new job! Hurrah! She had a great first day. I’d to pick her up mid morning to go out to hospital where parking is a blooming nightmare but a nice chap waved to us to let us know he was leaving ( and then gave us another cheery wave as he left) ….yeah…the tightest space known to mankind but after a few turns here and there I squeezed in and DD2 squeezed out! I sat and watched Casualty in the car whilst she was gone. Dropped her back at work. This was so she didn’t lose her parking spot 😆Went into supermarket but just bought veg and fabric conditioner and I hopefully don’t have to go back in for a few days ( though that reminds me my mother wants something today but I shall just get what she’s after )
Friend popped in.Then I’d a reiki session late afternoon.Nice text from the cottage owner. Telling me the weather had been wild there.Had pasta for tea. Then took me and my headache to bed.Have a lovely day.11 -
Hope you feel better soon Mhags.
For yesterday,
Busy morning with food restocking chores, emporium and the farm shop, small dog watched all my comings & goings from the comfort of her bed.
Three bunches of daffs purchased and distributed around the house, such cheery flowers.
Not very MSE but finally got round to ordering new socks, am hard on mine with yard boots etc and my darning doesn’t last so long, box of fav bamboo ones on the way.
Over to see pony, she is opposite her boyfriend in the barn, my pal’s ex-racer, and he has realised that when I turn up it’s usually with treats so also whinnies for a morsel, my pal always shares with my girlie so am happy to oblige. The pleasure of two lovely heads watching me walk towards them.
Salmon for tea, oven parcel with loads of veg.

Salmon and restock!
Headache and Rugby!
The Hens are OK! Oh Frith, good luck with West 'am!On the Leeward side!
There, not better! Was at the Veterans Breakfast this morning and had scran! Snorkers and best back for all! Tee was drunk, world was putt back right! That bit sore ted!
Then off to the discount surplus stores for provisions, got stakes inn for tonight, and snorkers for the Toad inn Hole! Did mes chicken tika as well! Tika now brewing on the side! Fresh! Not that wet carp you get from the boutique!
Court up with the railway programme yesterday, found out that the BBC wasted a lot of money again on some channel! FiL has given up trying for a discount, I think he'd rather not pay now! So should the rest of us!
Now just getting the furnace serviced again, that time of year! £65 and he does a good job, far easier than the rip of £20 a month and a condemned thing two boot!Bills!
Now ons about them utility bills! Tom Keene on Bloomberg was right, both that and the bankers got it wrong! They trashed it? Inflation had peaked, but based on two years, it has not, as 2020-21 was exceptional due to the super bug! Very good point, bankers the lot of them!
My consumption is
Gas 12,000 kWh per year!
Electricity 3,300 kWh per year!
As I was hiding under the parish back when I fixed, I was not around late August to tells yous lot to do so! So to get 10% of the electric, get them LED lights fitted/ I used coupons to do so BOGOF type! No coupon, then my search engine gives me rewards! And it nis not google. I has £20 built up ready for the surplus store to give me £6 off £40, and a reward! You can do the same! It is your money!
Now on about the spring! I doubt France has got it wrong in their uplift! So what does that mean? Spot Gas was £1.80 a therm back when I fixed. Yesterday it was £1.80 a therm! Oh bovver? I fixed at £97! But the OFGEM base their price on what was the levels Oct through December ! Bankers! It was high, but no longer!
So I think deals are coming soon, possibly in April. I will keep looking!
If you are on any tariff that is exceeding £200 a month, and I count the backer of the local football team who sit artificially on the top of League Division 4, get off that tariff! NOW!
Utility warehouse have deals similar to mine, but that means taking a package of items such as TV and boredband!
Oh, I have not switched in 30 years, apart to restrart with my supplier when I moved, that is Scottish Power! Them that told you to switch are the ones that made money! Now lock in deals cost £200 to leave. Be Careful.
Current Prices on the 'your stitched dot con' sites suggest £200 a month! No deals available to be honest!
Standard Variable rate suggest that £160-£170 at present, on my consumption!
If you deal is at an end, try and get onto one of the big suppliers, I am with Scottish Power and they have in contract deals, so moving to them at SVR and riding out till a deal seems the best. That is my opinion!
If yoiu are with the Eco based scam from Stroud, MOVE NOW! Their opffer yesdterday to me was £270 a month! Swing the cat for that! Note to Moderators, the Cat is a whip used in older days to get people working harder!
Jen Gives her best!
Keep Safe and do not freezeI work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!10 -
Hello. We’ve had all sorts of weather today. Wind. Rain. Snow. Sun. Sleet. Hail. Thunder. Lightning. Currently snow. Not done terribly much today. Woke with sore head which did eventually go.Walked round to mums , thankfully got it dry in either direction.Steak pie, parsnips ( from the parsnip mountain) and carrots and cauliflower and peas for dinner.Fire has been on since about 10am ( would usually put it on mid afternoon if I was putting it on )
Dog snuggles.oooh and made a peach crumble for pud!13 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) A lie in.
2) Bigger son reappeared for a cup of coffee. In worrying news, his paternal granddad is in hospital with coronavirus. He is 87, All the other members on that side of the family have caught it as well.
3) Hens OK.
4) Survived a dentist's appointment. All their staff were off ill as well, just the 2 dentists remaining! One did the dentistry while the other opened the door and answered the phone. No work needed doing on me, thank goodness.
5) Had a cup of tea in the cafe afterwards.
6) Bought smaller son chips from the van. (I'm on the BSD). The van and man will not continue parking opposite after the end of February due to the absolute chaos from the building work. They're going to find a different village altogether, which is a shame.
7) Have enjoyed all the build up to the FA cup match tomorrow on the local radio plus TV etc.
8) In bed with 2 hwb waiting for the Last Leg.12 -
awol for a day, a very late christmas card arrived yesterday, sad sad news with news of a Cambridge friend who had her first time i had my second, at one point we were very close, when i moved to dundee we moved to christmas and birthday cards, the Christmas card was from her husband, now a widower, ruddy C had returned with a vengeance, bummer,so let's think of 5. all i want to say is being alive, enjoying life, breathing, loving, feeling the air on my face, but that seems somehow selfish because she will never again do those things. Carp!
1) seeing a fox - i like to think that was her goodbye to me
2) hearing a beautiful wind chime
3) gbf coming round to walk the boys with me then take me to the botanics for tea and cake
4) watching the 4th round FA cup game with friends - i think they would have preferred to watch the Arbroath game but they weren't watching footie when i arrived so they can't complain that i had the man u put on. but of course they did 🤣
5) then A arrived with his lovely lovely gf, she an Arbroath supporter, he Dundee and Birmingham. I might have said how i'd be perfect for dr m. oops. A has a coffee with dr m every Saturday morning. but then again my friend's death has emphasised that time is finite. carpe diem and all that. and if he's not interested but happy to still be friends, well... oh but the big C stinks as so many of you know. emotions a wee bit in the air tonight, apologies if my post seems a bit rambly. need to go read my book and go to sleep, night all xxxMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

3 I was up at 5 this morning - writing one animal came and cuddled on me and then the other took it in shifts to make sure I was okay before I went back to bed for a bit.
4 The woodpecker and all the animals on the feeders.
5 Looking up local walks and getting engrossed in old maps of the area.

Have been awake for a couple of hours, needed to redo hwb.
Huge Raffle Harridan day ahead and need to snatch another hour or so if possible, but have been meaning to post this for you, Lainey:

She's a terrific equine vet and all-round good gal person.
Put McCulloch on to her a wee while ago.

Dd - have just spent an hour replying to someone young, similarly mourning. There was a ting! as hwb and & returned to bed and couldn't leave it echoing unanswered - especially as same happened 2 days ago also.

Care and thoughts to all - and to Frith and son for Round Ball excitement soon. You'll have to keep up a twitter feed for Tom W!😁👍🌹

Good morning
Bright and sunny though looks cold out there.
D Doll - I'm so sorry to hear your news. There are some things that just tilt the earth out of kilter. I do hope you soon feel back on an even keel.
Another change to DH operation. It's gone from next Thursday to next Wednesday in one hospital to a week on Thursday in another hospital altogether. The good news is the latest hospital is much nearer. But we're not convinced that will be the last change!
So all the prepping, organising and not seeing the DGC has been for naught. But now we have to start again. Hey ho. There are people awaiting much more vital surgery suffering the same difficulties so I'll stop moaning.
Going to meet DD soon for breakfast. A good way to start the weekend😀
Happy 🌞 day everyone

So sorry to hear about your friend DD, the big C is a real s*d and has no respect for age or health, carpe diem indeed!
Thanks &, an interesting read.
For yesterday,
Bit of a rubbish night sleep wise so a slower start.
Sleety rain most of the morning so home was best place to be.
Made a loaf plus a lemon drizzle cake as had a couple of sad looking lemons in the bowl.
Capt S arrived home for lunch looking at bit shell shocked after unexpected news from workplace, chats and reassurances during the afternoon.
Rain had cleared away and a big, starry sky with just a slither of a moon for the evening walk.Wishing all good luck in the cup, may the best teams win!8
