VJsmum - last week I machine washed the cuddlies for the last time and they are now in a bag in my wardrobe. It felt very wrong putting Uncle Monkey and friends away. Hope the moving out goes smoothly.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) A lie in and not such an horrendous sleep as in recent days.
2) Hens OK. Popped down twice as I cleared and sorted the kitchen and more titbits came to light that they could eat.
3) Cleaned the bathroom.
4) Went for a walk below the Clee Hill. It was a shock to see how long it had been since I last used Strava! Watched some red kites circling.
5) Emailed my auntie, which I had meant to do for ages, then got organised, filing notes from recent training courses and printing out the info that accompanied them. Also printed out a certificate from last year. I was on a roll so printed out the tickets for the FA cup match next Saturday!
6) The Oddbox delivery appeared overnight. I had half the mushrooms for lunch, fried up with garlic. For tea I made coleslaw from half the cabbage, an apple and 2 carrots. I had half a roasted squash with my coleslaw and smaller son had a mini pizza from the depths of the freezer and a jacket potato with his.
7) Will watch the Pottery Throwdown just now. Already in bed with 2 hwb, though we don't really have the storm here.
Did online church this morning. which meant I had time to get on with some more sorting. 1) had a good idea - I had some boxes from the provost's move - they are perfect for a cupboard in my bedroom - I now have 2 boxes containing complete duvet / sheet sets, 1 for towels, 1 for dressing up stuff (minnie the minx etc), 1 for scarves, 1 still empty 2) and the bottom now has my boots in and my shoes now all fit nicely on my shoe rack and the plastic laundry basket with one missing handle (destined for the tip) is now on the top shelf with my bags in, blankets in the blanket box downstairs 3) took the surplus sheets / duvet covers to the recycle then 4) went for lunch with gbf - jalapeno and sweet potato soup, yum and a roast chicken sarnie - then a good dog walk then a nap 5) hm thick haddock chowder for tea, now catching up on The Responder So a bit more tidying is done and I have gained a whole drawer in my bedroom and of course still have that empty box, very exciting. and 3boxes for the CS Oh and Cardiff won which is good news for Luton - I see Grimsby is steadily climbing admiral
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
My pleasures: Reading all yours 😊 Awake since 3 a.m.☹️ so listened to radio and read on here. Then got up and showered and had crumpets and tea and settled down to watch the tennis 🎾 final, great match and fantastic result but didn’t expect it to take 5.5 hours of my day! OH cleaned the kitchen windows and I cleaned and oiled the sills. Phone call from a lady I met on my only solo holiday (22 years ago, to Cyprus) while going through a marriage break up. We have never met since and only speak once a year, but lovely to speak to her. Roast gammon and a glass of wine 🍷 for dinner. Watched the last 2 episodes of Hidden Assets, but I will have to watch the last one again as I couldn’t keep my eyes open. night all 💤
As with many, giving true thanks for catch-up reading, ever dependent on wretched connectivity/signal, to all posting here. # 1. We did it! 🦚33 - Brentwood 11 ....but no double header glory. No double header match! Colchester cried off only 3½hours before kick-off 🤬😤😈 Not on. Financial implications for a small community club, too. Lost revenue, actual and potential: likely Bar turnover, food prep. and waste, subsequent Bar Menu supplies wasted, staffing. 6 allocated luncheon tables, as requested, each seating 8 remained empty, would have been booked by home supporters. Chairman's strong letter immediate to RFU.
1b. Expected crowd+fundraising potential therefore halved. Wild and windy weather whipped Raffle Harridan's ott Peacock garment nonsense about, but did &-y best. So yes, takings weĺl down and hard grind. Called a halt at £600, suddenly realising that wasn't bad given circs. - and actually saw some of match! Great draw atmosphere afterwards, malgré tout.
1c. Somehow, Wonderful 🦚 Party Night then ensued - great music and wine and singing and dancing and wild floor games and happiness - all ages. Glorious! & literally let her hair down, to own and others' surprise. Definitely imbibed usual Thermos of black green tea before &squat return, 2 bells-ish.😁
2. The jays are courting, He wooing She with 🥜 peanuts.👏
3. NZ twins hold on, new slight reverses and stalling for elder, always the stronger until now. So concern up, but we pray and care and keep in contact. They should be just a month in our world, not +160 days.🙏🤲. Every day more is a miracle.
4. Long late afternoon msg'g with Spain. Yes yes, we know - 'sunny but cold, only 8⁰ first thing. 18⁰ now, warmed up a bit. Need sunglasses.' &'s usual 😬😖 and all our usual Envious? Moi? exchanges.😁😇. Good chat, as always. Today's Compare and Contrast sunset pics result: Spain Infinity - UK nil.

Hurrah for all the tidying away DD, I love a good sort ☺️
For yesterday,
Woken up before 6am by an insistent spaniel who needed a wee, knew I wouldn’t get back to sleep so made a lemon tea and read my book, snuggled on the sofa with the alarm clock dog.
Filling up bird feeders and caught a movement other side of hedge, Mr Fox making his way home, wondered why the crows were making a racket in the beech trees.
Spent the morning in the garden, mostly pruning back the apple tree and our form of wassailing, a glass of cider and wishes for more apples please this year. Also cut back the nepeta although kept a woody crown to protect the new growth, the smell as I cut reminded me of summer.
We needed our lunch after all that, roast pork followed by treacle tart.
Apart from walking the dog rest of day was really quite lazy, reading and watching a bit of tv.

Got a bit soggy on the early morning doggy walk. Was dry when we started and then more and more rain!

3. Time spent in the garden. More weeding and sowed some seeds.
4. Soup for lunch.
5. Went out for a meal with DH cousin and husband. DS1 came too. A good evening.
